Inilah Zohran Mamdani Wali Kota Muslim Pertama di New York, Ini Janji-janjinya

JAKARTA, KOMPASTV  Zohran Mamdani, seorang sosialis demokrat berusia 34 tahun memenangkan pemilihan wali kota New York City dan menjadi wali kota Muslim pertama.    Mamdani mengalahkan mantan Gubernur Andrew Cuomo, yang mencalonkan diri sebagai independen setelah kalah dalam nominasi Demokrat.    Dalam pernyataannya Mamdani ia merasa bangga bisa terpilih jadi Wali Kota dari kota terhebat di dunia.    "Selamat pagi, New York. Tadi malam, kita mengukir sejarah. Saya sangat bangga berdiri di sini hari ini sebagai wali kota terpilih dari kota terhebat di dunia. Lebih dari dua juta warga New York telah memberikan suara mereka. Baik mereka yang mendukung kampanye ini, atau yang mendukung orang lain, atau mereka yang merasa terlalu kecewa dengan proses politik untuk berpartisipasi sama sekali. Saya akan bekerja setiap hari untuk menghormati kepercayaan yang kini saya pegang," kata Zamran dilihat dari Associated Press.    Ia berjanji akan kerja keras untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup warga New York.    "Proses itu dimulai dengan transisi. Dalam beberapa bulan mendatang, saya dan tim akan membangun balai kota yang mampu mewujudkan janji-janji kampanye ini. Kita akan membentuk pemerintahan yang cakap dan penuh kasih, didorong oleh integritas, dan bersedia bekerja keras seperti jutaan warga New York yang menganggap kota ini sebagai rumah mereka," katanya. 00:37to participate at all, I will work every day to honor the trust that I now hold.

00:50In the coming months, I and my team will build a city hall capable of delivering on

00:57the promises of this campaign.

00:59We will form an administration that is in equal parts capable and compassionate, driven by

01:05integrity, and willing to work just as hard as the millions of New Yorkers who call this

01:10city home.

01:11We will cast a wide net.

01:14We will speak to the organizers on the front lines of the fight to improve our city, government

01:19veterans with proven track records, policy experts from around the country and the world, and

01:24working people who know better than anyone what their neighborhoods need.
