00:01Welcome back, Park Managers!
00:02You're likely to have already begun building out your parks,
00:05so here's a closer look at adding some spectacle through waterfalls.
00:11To begin, you'll need a cliff face, something with at least two different variations in height.
00:16Use the Terrain Tools in the Environment tab to sculpt your landscape.
00:20Raise your terrain to create some height, then use the Flattened Terrain Tool to spread the area.
00:26At the bottom of the UI panel, you'll find further settings.
00:30Radius changes the size of the area your terrain brush affects.
00:34Intensity determines how powerful the effect is.
00:38Fall-off is how much of a feather to the radius there is.
00:42The higher the fall-off, the more gradual the effect is towards the radius edge.
00:46Lastly, slope adjusts the severity of any inclines.
00:50A low slope setting creates a more gradual hillside,
00:54whilst a higher slope setting means a harsher cliff face.
00:57This is key when creating waterfalls, as water needs a steep slope in order to drop off.
01:03Your slope setting needs to be over half in order to create a sheer enough drop.
01:08If you ever want further visuals on how steep your terrain is,
01:11you can turn on the contour lines at the bottom of the Environment panel.
01:15The closer together the lines, the steeper the terrain.
01:18Now we've got our terrain sculpted, let's add some water.
01:23You'll need to place either shallow or deep water at both the top and bottom of your incline.
01:29As long as your slope setting is past the midpoint,
01:32you should now see waterfalls cascading down your landscape.
01:36There is no limit to how many waterfalls can flow into another,
01:40but there is a limit on the height of the upper terrain level in which waterfalls can form.
01:45Another thing to note is that when using other terrain tools over top of water,
01:50they will override the existing water and paint back in the ground.
01:55If you want to decorate your waterfalls quickly,
01:57simply use one of the brushes in the Environment tab to either add or remove rocks and foliage.
02:03And if you want to curate your landscape even further,
02:06there are plenty of scenery items to choose from.
02:09As well as being a stunning visual in your park,
02:12waterfalls can also be incorporated into your enclosures,
02:15with semi-aquatic species able to swim through the deep water.
02:19Jurassic World Evolution 3 is out now and available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
