00:00What do you think is going on with Derek White?

00:02I think he is the biggest issue overall on the team,

00:05and it's just because I had high expectations for him, right?

00:08Like some of the other guys you're not expecting as much,

00:10and you're thinking with all the scoring that has left the team,

00:13he was going to step up, and he'd be an obvious guy

00:16to be the number two option offensively.

00:19And then you know he's a good defensive player.

00:21I thought he might even make a run at an all-star team.

00:23He's been incredibly disappointing.

00:25Yeah, I think it's a mixture of two things.

00:26Like both can be true.

00:27One, that he could be missing shots that he typically makes,

00:30and the tracking data would line up with that.

00:32But we've been talking about this for a while,

00:34that you look at the tracking data,

00:35it's more so just a point of reference

00:37where like how many of their shots are considered open.

00:40Like you can't take that thing for what it's worth

00:42and look at it as like totals.

00:43Because the other night, the NBA had 50 of the 51 shots

00:47that they took were considered open to wide open.

00:49Watching the game, you know that was not the case, right?

00:51Like there was a couple that were contested.

00:53So part of it is that, that he's missing shots

00:55that he usually makes.

00:56But other than that too,

00:57I think it's just like he's adapting to a new role

00:59and he struggled with that.

01:00And in the past, like you've had guys

01:02that can space the floor,

01:03that can create open shots for him,

01:05that can screen for him.

01:06And it's a lot different now

01:07where he's creating a lot for himself.

01:09It's a lot off the dribble.

01:10It's not as much catch and shoot.

01:11And, you know, that's been a problem.

01:13You know, real quick on White.

01:15So the season opener, he had 25 points.

01:17They lost that game.

01:18He had 25 points.

01:19And you're like, all right,

01:19this is probably what he's going to be like.

01:20Like they need, they need people to score.

01:23After that, he went 15, 15, 11, 19, 15, 5, and 10.

01:28And just going to his playoff log from last year,

01:31it was way higher.

01:31And that was with Tatum for most of it,

01:34with Holiday, with Horford, with Porzingis,

01:36like all these guys that he's playing with.

01:38Yeah.

01:39And I just wonder if he's, you know,

01:41not cut out for being a number two

01:43or maybe even a number three.

01:44Like, I think he's a really useful player

01:46when he's like the fourth guy.

01:49Like, I don't know if he's even going to be able

01:50to like grow into that.

01:51Yeah.

01:51I think that also, you know,

01:53there is some patience that's needed with that.

01:55Like they've only played eight games

01:56and the game that we talked about this,

01:58like the schedule that they faced going into this,

02:01like three of the teams that they've played

02:02already had 50 wins last year.
