Ateneo takes out UE, snaps 5-game skid  Ateneo de Manila University takes University of the East out of Final Four contention and snaps its 5-game skid with a 78-74 escape in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Nov. 5, 2025. 00:00As happy as we are with the win, we're not very happy with our defense, especially the way we started the game defensively.

00:08Giving up 60 points in the first three quarters, you know, it doesn't speak very highly of our motivation and our defensive intensity.

00:19But we kind of reversed the trend in the fourth quarter, and we haven't been a good fourth quarter team.

00:25And today, our defense stood up in the fourth quarter, and the offense came in behind it.

00:31And so, you know, we managed to get a win that we desperately needed, but we're going to need to be better going forward.

00:39But, you know, very happy with where we're at right now.

00:43For the top of games that Devine was out, we're the one holding the fourth down low.

00:48We were taking on the legs of Conoff and the other big five of your opponents.

00:53So, how big of a relief, I guess, is it having Devine alongside you to hold it down while you're pretty much stretching the floor?

01:04Well, it feels good to play, you know, my natural position.

01:08But, you know, I still have to get the job done whether or not he's in or he's not.

01:14So, you know, if the five has to be filled, then that's the shoes I got to fill.

01:18But, I'm content with whatever the outcome is.
