Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson says a new curriculum review will give pupils a "really firm foundation" in core subjects like English and Maths, as well as encouraging them to take up creative subjects like art and drama.

00:11will make sure that after a decade we refresh and revitalise our curriculum
00:15so that young people have a really firm foundation in the academic subjects like English and Maths,
00:20those kind of core subjects, but alongside that they have a broad and rich curriculum,
00:25the chance to study subjects like music and art and drama and that's what parents want to see
00:30and that's why the response today has been really well received from business leaders
00:35by some of our most successful academy trust leaders, creative organisations and I think parents will welcome it too.
