00:00Working hard for each other, I've always tried to help your mate out, and I thought the quality was there as well.
00:05So I thought the keeper was outstanding, and obviously managed to keep the score down,
00:10and we had a few big chances, especially at the start of the second half.
00:13But yeah, 1-0, pleasing night, massive three points for us, and I'm going to move on.
00:18When that line of stage was coming from Courtois, it seems to be what was happening against us, doesn't it?
00:22But there was a patience about us tonight as well, that we felt that that moment would come.
00:26Yeah, look, you just have to keep going.
00:27And, you know, probably the lads that played in the final in Paris probably had a bit of, you know, de-ja-vu.
00:33And yeah, he's an unbelievable keeper, et cetera.
00:36And he always seems to pick out his best against us, and he's really hard to beat.
00:40But thankfully, we just kept knocking at the door, and we believed if we kept creating the chances in,
00:44we'd hopefully knock it down eventually.
00:46And thankfully, Maka popped up, got the goal, and, you know, then we could have probably scored more.
00:50The game really opened up, and, you know, we were then defending and playing on the counter-attack,
00:53which was probably suited as the last 10-15 minutes, and just if that last pass was right,
00:57we could have been through one-on-one.
00:59But, yeah, look, everyone worked their socks off today, even the lads coming off the bench really played their part as well.
01:04And, yeah, a massive all-round performance today.
01:06Clean sheet as well, which you're on the bounce now.
01:08It's the sport, isn't it, to build, like you say, that team momentum.
01:11Well, that's where results start, you know, too many times, you know, this season.
01:16We've kind of, we've had to score three goals to win games and things like that.
01:20And you can't keep, you can't keep doing that at the start of the season.
01:22We were doing that well, and we were still winning the games, but that's not sustainable.
01:26You know, it's sustainable when you win games with clean sheets, and you win one mil or two nils and things like that.
01:31And, of course, you're going to concede goals now and again, but it's about having that control.
01:34And I think we've got that back the last two games, and it's important now that we have to be consistent.
01:39That was the message today, before the game.
01:41You know, we need the consistency back in the game, and I think we really brought that today.
01:44But we've got another massive game Sunday, and it's going to be tough.
01:46You know, we've put a lot into this week already, and, you know, it's going to be difficult.
01:50But, you know, we obviously go there with more confidence than we had last week, so that's pleasing.
01:55Macca makes his way off the pitch with the Man of the Match award.
01:57There was probably ten other candidates, and Conor Bradley will have driven him pretty close for that.
02:01Unbelievable performance from him tonight.
02:03Ah, they gave it to Conor.
02:04Maybe I'm biased with the full-backs, but I thought he was outstanding.
02:07Again, he's one of the world's best.
02:10You know, he really defended so well against Inicius, and, you know, Conor's a fantastic player.
02:16You know, unbelievable talent.
02:17People still forget how young he is, but I'm always on that, and it's about the consistency now.
02:23You know, Conor's always had a performance like that in him, but it's about doing it week in, week out.
02:27And I think now he's starting to get that.
02:29He's getting a run on the team, and you can see the confidence growing and growing.
02:32I thought he was magnificent tonight, and I thought he was excellent against Real Madrid last season,
02:36but I thought he was even better tonight.
02:37And I thought he was excellent against Villa as well.
02:39So, that's two really good performances he's had, and it's now about consistency as young lads.
02:43It's so hard to do that, and with the help of all of us, he can hopefully get there,
02:47because he's got Bennetton to be the right full-back for Liverpool for so many years.
02:52But it's just up to him to keep his feet on the ground, which he does, because he's such a good lad.
02:56But it's also about the inconsistency, and that's where we can try and help him.
03:00Just finally, what about the noise inside here tonight?
03:02You've played in so many of those classic European performances.
03:05You were never tired of that, were you, listening to that crowd being the way they were tonight?
03:09No, they made an outstanding noise.
03:10I think just after we scored, I think somebody was floating down on the ground and the noise they made.
03:16I think the lads were just kind of looking back and looking around and thought,
03:20yeah, this is where you want to play, and this is the game you want to be a part of.
03:23And that's what these fans can do, and that's what this club can do.
03:27So, it was a real special atmosphere tonight, and we're going to need that all throughout the season.
03:32But we know on European nights it doesn't take them much to get going,
03:35and thankfully we gave them what they wanted at the start,
03:38you know, high press, winning tackles and things like that.
03:40We know this crowd always react off the back of that,
03:42and I thought, you know, they really helped us over the line at the end as well.
03:45So, credit goes to them, and yeah, all round it was a really pleasing night inside the world.
