AYANA and Erica are happily in love, but the pair received a whole heap of judgement over their relationship. Ayana told Love Don't Judge, "People feel like you can't be pretty and gay. You have to talk to a man." The women both love fashion and while Ayana is always wearing pink, Erica likes to flit between fem and masc styles, something that she often faces criticism over. "They feel like, if you're a lesbian and you choose to be a stud, you can't really choose to be a girly girl too," she explained. But determined Erica refuses to let others dictate what she wants to do - and in this episode of Love Don't Judge, we'll be seeing both sides of her style. Erica explained, "I will be switching to my masculine side. We're going to sit down with my mom and get her reaction to the change." Will Erica's mom embrace her daughter's masc look?

00:00I'm Erica and this is my partner I am.
00:02People feel like you can't be pretty and gay.
00:05Girls do anything for male attention.
00:07You're both pretty, but look for men and get married.
00:10They feel like as you're a lesbian and you choose to be a stud,
00:13you can't really choose to be a girly girl too.
00:16I will be switching to my masculine side.
00:18She's definitely going to shock you though.
00:20We're going to sit down with my mom and get her reaction on my change and my hairstyle.
00:26I'm not a big fan of locks on females.
00:29So it's kind of rogue, they would call it.
00:32No matter what they say, don't judge a book by its cover.
00:35When I see you, my brain automatically formulates an opinion about you.
00:43Wash our hands.
00:45I could have let you do that for me.
00:47I'm Erica and this is my partner Iyana.
00:49Men say we are a waste of females.
00:52Majority of people think of a gay couple.
00:54They never think of pretty girls.
00:56We met in high school and then we were kindled a couple years after that and then that's when we started talking.
01:02Well, I always was attracted to her.
01:04She was very beautiful.
01:05I never imagined lesbians being together.
01:08You don't even need that much.
01:10Uh-uh.
01:11Why is it so globby?
01:13We've been living together for the whole year and a half.
01:17Lesbian couples usually move very fast.
01:20So we was moved in probably about the first, second month.
01:25And that's really hard when it comes to two girls.
01:28She got makeup everywhere and I'm just like the tomboy.
01:31So I got my, you know, stuff everywhere.
01:34There's gonna be a timer.
01:36Ready?
01:36Mm-hmm.
01:37We do vlogs, pranks, comedy skits, dance videos on TikTok.
01:42All the judgment that I've gotten has been from social media.
01:45They feel like you can't be pretty and gay.
01:47You have to talk to a man.
01:49The same thing, just like I'm a waste of a female.
01:52Guys should be creating babies and the whole housewife type of thing.
01:57And that's not me.
01:58This one says, looks like two completely lost souls to me.
02:04Like, what do you mean by that?
02:05What are you referring to?
02:06Girls do anything for male attention.
02:08Why would you even be doing this?
02:10Girls even play lesbian for male attention.
02:12It's crazy.
02:13Someone say, you're both pretty, but look for a man and get married.
02:16You are being the children of your father, the devil.
02:20Repent and be the children of your real father, God.
02:23All men.
02:24It's always men.
02:24Sometimes we get a lot from, like, the females, but not really.
02:28This is what the world came to.
02:30I'm an 80s baby, raised in the 90s.
02:32Growing up, you didn't see this kind of stuff, nor did they promote it in movies.
02:36It's crazy time we living in.
02:38I don't get what's crazy about two girls being together in love.
02:42You both are a waste of time and wasting...
02:46Yeah.
02:47Like, we're a waste of coochies.
02:50Put some babies in there.
02:51Men deserve that.
02:52And we're just like, really?
02:55A man deserves my body.
02:56Want us to be with a man, just so a man can mistreat.
03:00I just let them do their thing.
03:01Because at the end of the day, we can't control what anyone says.
03:04I just look at it as a bright side.
03:05I mean, if you don't have haters, you're not popping.
03:08So, my personal style is definitely pink.
03:10I feel like I am a Barbie girl.
03:12I love pink.
03:14Everything about me is pink.
03:15They feel like, as you a lesbian and you choose to be a stud, you can't really choose to be a girly girl, too.
03:20But me, I did what I wanted to do.
03:23My personal style, it really depends on how I genuinely feel.
03:27Sometimes I feel like I just want to be like her.
03:30Sometimes I want to wear sweatpants and just be casual.
03:33When we first looked up, she dressed both.
03:35The first time, she was very masked, and then she switched a week or two later.
03:39And I'd never seen her with the wig and stuff.
03:42So, I was like, oh my gosh.
03:43Like, you are actually very pretty.
03:46So, later on, I will be switching to my masculine side.
03:51I'm getting my dress retwisted and a haircut.
03:54The switch and the demeanor will change.
03:57But just, it's going to be good.
04:00She's definitely going to shock you, though.
04:02The vibe I want to get off when I'm masked.
04:05I'm still very feminine.
04:06I really like to add a little glitter and glime with my style.
04:11Since I was a little girl, sometimes I wear my skirt and little flip-flops with my mom.
04:15And sometimes I'm with my brother playing football.
04:17I've been this way.
04:18I'm never changing.
04:19I think she looks her best with both.
04:21When she is more feminine, I feel like we get along a lot better.
04:25Like, we bond better.
04:26But when she's masculine, it's like a challenge a little bit.
04:30So, it's like she's the leader.
04:35We're going to sit down with my mom and get her reaction on my change and my hairstyle.
04:41And see how she likes it.
04:43Hopefully, she likes it, guys.
04:44Because as you can see, I look pretty good.
04:47My name is Marcia, mother of Erica.
04:50Erica's masculine side comes from not wanting to be controlled.
04:54She wants to be Erica so loud and proud.
04:57She wants everybody to know, well, I can be cute and girly if I want to.
05:01Or I can be, you know, masculine.
05:03I'm not a big fan of that.
05:05I'm not a big fan of locks on females.
05:08I think it takes too much away from the feminine side and adds more to the masculine side.
05:13And the clothes are definitely not, given of my little girl, that I would want her to look like.
05:19So, definitely not.
05:20You guys look really nice, but Ayanna, I mean, you got everything going.
05:25Your hair is beautiful.
05:26What brought this on with Erica today?
05:27How do you feel about the way she's looking?
05:29I think she looks really nice.
05:31I like how she can switch it up from femme to mask.
05:35Some people like the way that I look and dress, you know.
05:38Well, you know, I did have a daughter and haircuts were really, yeah.
05:44But see, that's how I want to explain to you.
05:46When stuff is not part of the plan, it can still be planned.
05:49Because you didn't plan me to have me a haircut.
05:51But I planned my own life.
05:53So, it's kind of like off-road.
05:56It's really not, you know, the path.
05:58It's kind of rogue, say what call it.
06:01Who is they?
06:02Me.
06:03You.
06:03Okay.
06:04There we go.
06:05You, exactly.
06:06But you're okay with it?
06:07Yes, 100%.
06:09Yeah.
06:10Which one do you like better, though?
06:12I like them both equally.
06:13There's no way.
06:14It is.
06:15I just feel I like them both.
06:18So, when you're all dressed up and ready to go out, you don't care which Erica comes?
06:22Mm-mm.
06:23Just any Erica?
06:24Yes.
06:25Any Erica.
06:26Because they are the same person.
06:28It's just a change of style.
06:30Why is it like that my feminine have you up here and my masculine have you down here
06:34when I'm genuinely the same person that you gave birth to?
06:37Well, I think every mother that has a daughter that she wants in her image.
06:41So, I would never have that image.
06:44So, when you're that girl, you don't reflect me as a mom who raised a daughter.
06:51You reflect a person who's rejecting their feminine side.
06:56So, as any mother, they want their daughters to be pretty.
06:59We want to have princesses.
07:00If we're queens, we want princesses.
07:03You know, our boys are our boys and they're our little prince.
07:07But we don't think that our princess is also going to be our prince.
07:10What about a studette?
07:12That's not a word.
07:14A studette.
07:16That means I have a little feminine and a little mask.
07:19You know, stutter has never been a good word.
07:22Nobody likes a stutter.
07:23Nobody likes a judgmental person.
07:26But we are here, right?
07:28Well, I'm not judging.
07:30I'm choosing.
07:31So, my question is, because I'm a mask, I'm not a princess anymore.
07:35I don't deserve to be treated like a princess because I have an edge up.
07:38Right?
07:39Is that, that's what you're telling me?
07:41Well, when you approach me and you're looking like my son instead of my daughter,
07:45I'm not going to offer you a spray of perfume or let me fix your lip gloss.
07:50So, your love is conditioned.
07:51So, that's not love.
07:53That's treatment.
07:54I love you, regardless of how you look.
07:57But the treatment that you will receive when you look like this versus the treatment that
08:02you will receive when you look like that is definitely going to be different.
08:08I could have sworn a saying was said, don't judge a book by its cover.
08:12So, I've already pretty much made a judgment.
08:15I'm not just coming from mom.
08:17I'm coming from the world.
08:18So, no matter what they say, don't judge a book by its cover.
08:21When I see you, my brain automatically formulates an opinion about you.
08:27Me, I'm going to be myself regardless of how all the whole world feels.
08:32And I'm going to be myself even with how you feel.
08:34Because you have never liked this side of me.
08:36You have always told me, ew, these ugly dreads.
08:39You know, judge me in those sorts of ways.
08:42But at the end of the day, I stayed true to myself.
08:44Well, there's one good thing about it.
08:46Some days you come in your wig and some days you don't.
08:49So, guess what?
08:50I still get to have my little princess.
08:52And then I get to have my little thug dread girl.
08:56That you need to help move big suitcases and stuff like that.
08:59Oh, yeah.
09:00I need that.
09:01Okay.
09:02Do you worry about what other people think when it comes to Erica and her mask?
09:10Actually, I don't worry about anybody's opinion but my own.
09:14I'm always Mama Bear.
09:16So, if anybody says anything, I'm coming.
09:20I feel like that this relationship works because we know love is a feeling, but it's also a choice.
09:25We wake up every day ready to love each other, ready to work through all our problems.
09:29The people that judges us, I feel like they should just love themselves more.
09:34Genuinely.
09:35It's just miserable to just sit on your phone all day and just write negative comments.
09:40We're going to live our life how we want to live our life.
