00:19Hello everyone, shuffle my doors in the road countries.
00:22In this video we are going to look at this chainsaw, the battery powered professional chainsaw from steel, the MS300CO.
00:30So why did I buy a battery powered chainsaw? Well, there are two reasons for that.
00:34The first one is that it makes much less noise.
00:36So when doing something in the neighborhood and you want to keep your neighbors happy, this will be a very good investment.
00:43But also for myself, because I am quite cautious about hearing protection, with this saw this is much less of a deal.
00:50Also with this chainsaw you still have to wear hearing protection, but because the noise level is much more, it will be much more pleasant to work with.
00:58And the second reason is that it is very easy to use.
01:01So especially for the handy type of work, like pruning, or when you want to remove something, you just simply take the saw and it runs.
01:10Now that electrical saws can be very handy, only you know from this guy.
01:15Now don't underestimate this little saw because it's quite powerful and I use it a lot for pruning and working for some small stuff around the house.
01:24This front is of course that you always need to connect it to a mains connection.
01:29But with a long cable you get quite a distance as well.
01:33And with the MS300C also a decent advantage at home.
01:37Strong engine, no cable and a longer blade so you can also do the failing of somewhat larger trees as well.
01:46And low noise and handy to use.
01:49So very curious how much I like this professional chainsaw from steel battery power.
01:55Now as you might have seen in one of my other videos, the MS261, this one, is really my favorite chainsaw.
02:12I use it for almost everything and because it's such a nice saw, I hardly use the heavier one, the 362.
02:20This is the standard saw that I always take when doing some work.
02:24But it has one main clear disadvantage, it makes a lot of noise.
02:29And that's exactly why I'm so interested in this one, because the noise level is much smaller on this saw.
02:37According to the specification of steel, 118 for the MS261, while for the MS300CO it's 109 dB.
02:48Well now you might think that, hey wait a minute, 118 versus 109, that's about 10%, who cares?
02:54Well, it doesn't work like that.
02:56The dB scale is a logarithmic scale, so that means that 3 dB is already a factor of 2 smaller in noise level.
03:03And this now talking about 9 dB.
03:06Now let's look at the type indication.
03:08This is the MS261.
03:10MS stands for Motorcycle, or as we say in Dutch, Motorzag, which means a saw with an engine.
03:17In English they say chainsaw, it still doesn't specify that it has an engine, which I think is the most important indication and advantages of these systems.
03:29The MS261 is the successor of the old O26, and those saws have about 2.6 kilowatt of engine power.
03:36Now the MS261 is already a next generation, and that's why the one is at the end.
03:43And this one has 3.0 kilowatt, so it's already increased a little bit.
03:47Now the MSI 300CO, what we have here, is also of course a Motorcycle, so a chainsaw with an engine, but also it has a battery, and in German, as well as in Dutch, we say a key.
04:00So that means the A stands for Motorcycle with an A key, a chainsaw with a battery.
04:07The 300C has a power of 3.0 kilowatt, while the electrical power actually is 3.0 kilowatt, but the mechanical power at the chain, because of some losses, is 2.5 kilowatt.
04:20So, this one is less powerful than the MS261, but it also makes much less noise, so we'll see.
04:33The chainsaw comes with an LED display.
04:36When I touch it here, the switch is on, and you can see it's now in Eco mode, and it also shows that the oil is too low.
04:43Well, it's brand new, so it didn't fill it with oil yet, so the sensor is working.
04:48That's also why this is a CO with oil sensor.
04:52If you now try to run the saw, it doesn't work.
04:56First, you have to switch it on, and then it will run.
05:03This is the Eco mode, which is for saving your battery by general sawing, a long chain speed, and a low power.
05:11With this button, you can change it to another mode.
05:15This is the failing mode, with medium chain speed, and maximum engine power.
05:21And of course, in this mode, the battery will last less long than going to Eco mode.
05:26When you switch it one mode up, it's in the third and last mode, which is the limbing mode.
05:32This is with maximum chain speed, and maximum power, for accurate cutting.
05:37And of course, in this mode, the battery will last the shortest.
05:41The chainsaw also shows that the brake is on, now it's on, and now it's off.
05:48If you use a chainsaw now, it won't run.
05:51First, you have to put it on.
05:54Now it runs.
05:56When I take my hand away, it will go off.
06:02And you first have to push the button again, with your thumb, to have it running.
06:09So there's also some safety in there.
06:16At this moment, when you buy this saw with battery and charger, you get it with an extra spare battery.
06:22And if you are very nice to the dealer, he will also put it in this nice battery box.
06:28And in this battery box, you can store two batteries and the charger.
06:37And then you can take it easy with you.
06:44Like this.
06:46And the charger of the battery can be easily checked by pushing the button.
06:51And it's now fully loaded.
06:53Now I don't know what the weight is of this chainsaw, with bar, chain, battery and the oil filled up.
07:13But that's something we're going to measure, and then we're going to compare both saws on the power to weight ratio.
07:19So the chainsaw also has these fast release caps.
07:24Let's put in some oil.
07:30And then I switch on.
07:32The oil empty indicator should not be on.
07:34So let's have a look.
07:38It's still on.
07:46That's weird.
07:49Okay.
07:52Maybe there's a delay in the signal.
07:55Let's wait and see.
07:59Otherwise we have no issue.
08:10It is full, so it should go out.
08:14A little bit here.
08:15Okay.
08:16We'll see.
08:17So now we're going to weigh this chainsaw with the battery installed and completely filled with oil.
08:31And the Steinberg scale with a resolution and accuracy of 0.1 kg since 7.7 kg.
08:37And for comparison we're also going to weigh the 261.
08:406.5 kg, completely filled up with bar, with chain.
08:53So let's compare these chainsaws.
08:54This electrical saw weighs 7.7 kg, which is quite heavier than the MS261 with 6.5 kg.
09:04And it's almost as heavy as the 362, the heavy fuel brother, which is 7.9 kg.
09:10When we go to the engine power weight ratio, we see that the battery powered saw has this ratio of 0.32 kW per kg.
09:20The MS261 with 0.46 kW per kg.
09:25And the 362 with 0.43 kW per kg.
09:28So the battery powered chainsaw is quite heavy for the power and gips, but of course it has other advantages when this is such an interesting product.
09:37The MS300 also has the light 1.1 mm thickness change.
09:51It goes very smooth through wood compared with the thicker 1.6 mm of the older chainsaw types.
09:58So let's now also test the device.
10:01We're going to cut down some of those cherry trees that you see in the back, which need to go anyway.
10:07Let's put the machine in failing mode, because that's exactly what we're going to do.
10:13And let's see how well it does.
10:28We're going to cut this one again.
10:29So let's get to those two.
10:30These three pieces will be cut down some of these.
10:31So I take a little bit for a counsellor.
10:32So another one was going to cut the pipe engine, which won't be cut.
10:33So I get that from this one!
10:34So the other one will be cut off.
10:35So I stop the pipe engine and cut the pipe engine and cut down some of these.
10:38So I don't get to these two or three or three times when this is your memory.
10:39I'm going to cut it out.
10:40So I get that from the power of the battery.
10:42I got to that I do.
10:43But I can't do that.
10:44So I don't do that.
10:47I got to be cut out.
10:49So I don't have to say.
10:50So I don't have to be cut.
10:51So I need to cut it.
10:53So I've cut down the first three, now all in pieces, so I can't do the second one, still
11:19have full battery power.
11:49So let's compare what I'll first do with the high speed mode.
12:18Middle speed mode.
12:25Eco mode.
12:31So yes, you can really feel the difference in change speed.
12:34But to be honest, all three go quite well.
12:37Of course, the highest gives the fastest results, but even in Eco mode it goes quite nicely through.
12:43And yeah, it takes a little bit more time, but it's only a matter of seconds.
12:47So not even that bad.
12:49So both trees are now down and in small pieces ready to take away.
12:54So let's also check now what the battery status is.
12:58And it says now three out of four.
13:00So still good to go.
13:02And I used multiple modes and I like all three of them.
13:07So here behind me you see this tree that I will take out.
13:13I'm cleaning all this area and these ones also need to go.
13:18And we'll use a single battery which is fully loaded.
13:23So let's see how far I get with cutting down these trees and see how much I can do on one battery.
13:40So what's the battery?
13:43Still four blocks.
13:45So I'm now going to take the large one.
14:10Two blocks.
14:22Now we're in the limping mode.
14:28One, two, three, four.
14:51Almost gone.
15:21Nope, not this one, almost true.
15:32All of this has been taken out by only one single charge of the battery package, so that's
15:38quite an impressive performance.
15:42And I must say, I'm not disappointed at all, it's quite a lot.
15:47The tree is almost gone, and it was not a small tree either.
15:52So let's compare the MS-8300 versus the MS-261, strong, stronger, very lightweight, less lightweight,
16:06silent, noisy, handy, even more handier, great saw, great saw.
16:15So the question is, is there an added value for this battery charged chainsaw?
16:20Oh yes, there is.
16:22I really think it's great in handiness.
16:26Just push the button, running.
16:28So easy when you just have to remove a few branches, taking out a tree, you don't need to start it
16:34or to have it run or things like that.
16:37So when you really want to have a saw that you just use for a few things, put it away,
16:41doing your other stuff, and then use it again, what you typically have in landscaping.
16:46This is a very nice saw for that.
16:48Another great thing about this is that it doesn't produce that much noise.
16:53To be honest, if you're working in an urban area where you just want to use it, or even at
16:59a day where you don't want to make too much noise for your neighbors, or maybe also for
17:04the wildlife, also this is a very great saw.
17:08Is it in a replacement for the 261?
17:10I think it's an addition.
17:11Of course, if you don't do too much sawing, this is a great one.
17:15You don't need another one.
17:16But if you have to do a lot of sawing, you have to take down trees, do a lot of delimbing,
17:23especially when you take multiple trees and you have to cut them in pieces, taking out
17:27the branches, things like that.
17:29This is so light and so strong, this is still a great, great saw.
17:35But especially for the handiwork, to be honest, I already used it multiple times because this
17:40one is just you take it, do some sawing, put it back, gone, ready.
17:46That's what I really like about this one.
17:48So for this saw, battery lifetime is very good.
17:52With a lot of cutting with it, I'm impressed what you can do with only one battery.
17:57The different type of modes that you have, it's also very interesting because I really
18:02use it.
18:03Especially for some easy delimbing, for cutting away some things.
18:07The Eco-mode already used a lot because it makes the saw very easy and it's good enough
18:12for those easy type of things.
18:13Of course, if you want to do it fast, then the other modes are better and also for falling
18:19large trees.
18:20Of course, that works better with the higher speed, but for the easy type of things that
18:24you typically use the software, I think the Eco-mode is also already a very nice mode.
18:29And the light bar, which I also demonstrated on the 261, is a very good chain going easy through
18:35the wood.
18:36In that sense, it's great.
18:38So the only major disadvantage of this saw compared to the 261 is the power to weight ratio, which
18:46clearly the 261 is the winner.
18:48But all the other things, I really love this saw.
18:52And I still have a lot of cutting to do in all the landscaping and the things like that,
18:55so it will be used a lot, I'm very sure about that.
18:59So I hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching, see you next time.
