00:00She is one of the biggest voices in pop right now.
00:03Bittersweet is everywhere.
00:04You are the face of Victoria's Secret.
00:07Oh, I'm saying lies.
00:08Brand new album, Lock It, was announced today when it's coming out in the new year.
00:12Madison Beer is in studio.
00:14What's up?
00:14Hello.
00:15You just said a lot of lies, but I appreciate you.
00:17Lies?
00:17Yeah.
00:17What was wrong?
00:18I'm not the face of Victoria's Secret.
00:20Well.
00:20I'm not the voice.
00:21Come on.
00:22But thank you.
00:22You're welcome.
00:23I'll take it.
00:23I'll take it.
00:23I'll take it.
00:23Listen, when people talk about the show, they're talking about Madison Beer.
00:26That's very, very sweet.
00:27Can't wait to talk about your experience at the show.
00:30Congratulations on all the things.
00:32Big news today, though, the album.
00:33How do you feel that that news is out in the world?
00:35It feels really weird.
00:36I wasn't anticipating to cry after I posted it, but I kind of like right before I posted
00:42it, I had like a sample of the vinyl in my bed.
00:45And so I just went live for literally 30 seconds and flashed it right before I posted just to
00:50get people excited.
00:51And I started like shaking and I ended the live and then I posted my announcement.
00:57And just weirdly, immediately started like hysterically crying.
01:00I don't know why.
01:01I just think it's kind of the end of an old chapter, the beginning of a new one.
01:06There's just so much, so many feelings that come along with it.
01:09But yeah, I was hit with like a wave of emotion.
01:11Oh my gosh.
01:11And stressful stuff just going live on Instagram anytime.
01:15Oh my God.
01:15And my Wi-Fi is so bad and will drop out.
01:18So I'm like, I'm so, I want, it had to go up exactly at 10 a.m. this morning because
01:21we had a lot of other partners going live at 10 a.m.
01:23So I had to go live at 10 a.m.
01:25And I was like, my Wi-Fi is going to drop, isn't it?
01:27And it just, thankfully didn't.
01:29But yeah, it is stressful.
01:31Why is posting on social media so stressful?
01:33I was going to say, I get stressed.
01:35Like it's so stressful.
01:36And I'm like, infraction.
01:36You and as many followers you have.
01:38But it's regardless of, it's so just like annoying to post.
01:42I know.
01:42I miss the old stuff, right?
01:43Side rant.
01:44Just like, come on, social media, fix the algorithm.
01:46It's stressful.
01:47And you never see your friends anymore.
01:49No, I'm like, can we go back to 2012 when it was just like your food with like a weird
01:54filter on it and your dog and your friend.
01:57And then, you know, when you used to be able to say like you've reached, it said something
02:00at the end where it would have like a check mark and it would be, sorry, it would be like
02:03a check mark and it would say like, you've, you're all caught up.
02:06Do you remember that?
02:07Yes.
02:07Yeah.
02:08That's what we missed.
02:09There's no end anymore.
02:10No, now it's just endless.
02:11It's a black hole.
02:12I'm scared.
02:13I'm like, come on.
02:14Man, who was that that thought of doom scrolling?
02:16Like, I got a great idea.
02:17Oh, geez.
02:17It never ends.
02:18Jail.
02:19Jail.
02:21Oh, I mean, congratulations on Bittersweet.
02:23It's been so fun to see the journey of this song.
02:26And, you know, it's, it's such a fun like concept, especially with the music video.
02:30Like it's the end of a relationship.
02:32Yeah.
02:32And coming out on the other side of that, what was the exact moment when you knew this
02:37song like had to be on the album?
02:38Cause that it was done, right?
02:40Yeah.
02:41Pretty much.
02:41Yeah.
02:42The album has gone through many like forms and shapes.
02:44And I even saw there was like a lot of discourse going on online about how there's only 11
02:48tracks and inclusive of three that we've already heard.
02:50So they're like, we only have eight songs that are, you know, new and whatever, but there's,
02:55I could probably confirm there's going to be a deluxe and there's like other songs that
02:59do exist.
02:59Whatever.
03:00That's, that's beside the point.
03:01But bittersweet was a song that was made during a very, very real time and very real experience.
03:08And so I just honestly crashed a studio section, a studio session that was already existing.
03:12And I was like, can we, can I come in and write about this with you guys?
03:15And I think because I, it was, it was some people that I had never worked with before.
03:19I was able to explain my situation in a different light than to people that I feel like I work
03:24with all the time.
03:25You know what I mean?
03:26So yeah, it was just really fun, really easy.
03:29We wrote it with no pressure.
03:30It was just kind of like, let's get this feeling out there.
03:34And then I was listening to it a bunch and I was like, I really think I want some of the
03:37album.
03:38It feels so hopeful.
03:39And I like this perspective.
03:41And, and then the more people I played it for in my life, they were like, this is a really
03:45special song.
03:45And almost everyone would like tear up, but also smile.
03:48And it kind of, I don't know.
03:49I just wanted something that, yeah, felt like it evoked that emotion, that bittersweet emotion.
03:53Oh, I love it.
03:54Love it.
03:55It's, it's gotta be such a good feeling to be able to go in the studio and be able to
03:59do that.
03:59You're just like ripping, you know?
04:00Yeah.
04:01Um, what was the feeling?
04:02Like, was there a certain sound or emotion?
04:04I mean, obviously the emotions there, but like, what were you chasing when you're in the
04:07studio that day?
04:09Not to be like corny, but genuinely that bittersweet thing.
04:11I was like, how can we make a song that feels hopeful and has a beat to it and is something
04:16that you can dance to, but also the lyrics are sad and it's kind of that duality and how
04:22can we capture that?
04:23Well, and so that was really what we were after was just how, yeah.
04:26How can I make a song that literally feels bittersweet?
04:28Like it feels sad, yet happy, hopeful, yet reminiscent.
04:33Yeah.
04:33I don't know.
04:34And you captured it so well in the music video too.
04:37Congrats on co-directing it and co-producing and everything.
04:39Thank you so much.
04:40Um, I wanted to ask about like the visual celebration of the parade.
04:43Yeah.
04:44And it's just so fun about how it's independence, but it's also like a little bit of regret.
04:48Yeah.
04:48Um, how do you decide to lean into that tension, I guess, of like party and pain?
04:52Yeah, it's definitely layered.
04:53I was really inspired by the scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off where he kind of hijacks
04:56the parade and makes it his own.
04:58And that scene I feel like is such a hopeful, happy, fun, like random scene in that movie.
05:03And I always loved it so much.
05:04And so that was the original thought that I had was just, I knew I wanted something pulling
05:09from that reference.
05:10And then I was like, well, how do we get to a parade?
05:13What does the parade mean?
05:15At first I was like, is it, you know, people congratulating me getting out of a situation
05:20that's bad?
05:20And then I was like, I don't feel like that's, that's very one note to me.
05:24And then I was like, is it people coming around me and being supportive and telling me
05:29it's going to be okay?
05:30And, you know, everyone's just kind of trying to cheer me up.
05:32And that felt much more like in line with, with me.
05:35And so that's the route that we went down and it was just, yeah, I thought, and also
05:38it's just kind of silly and funny.
05:39I feel like it's just to have that metaphorical thing of like, okay, this guy dumps me in
05:44a very aggressive way.
05:45And then I'm immediately met with like fireworks going off over my head and people, yeah, news
05:50crew, there's a parade busting through the streets.
05:53It's like, it feels, it feels like, you know, just trying to cheer somebody up in the most
05:58extreme way.
05:59And then, you know, I didn't want the tone to be misconstrued.
06:03And like, by the way, like, you know, we all love to be shady and whatever.
06:06But I think that my main thing with it was I wanted to make sure that it returned to that
06:09vulnerable real place is like, yeah, sure.
06:12There could be media and there could be a parade and we could all be singing on this
06:15float.
06:15But like, at the end of the day, I still go home and have these real, very real feelings.
06:20And so that was important to me too, you know, so having, having all of the truth in it, because
06:26I think that like, I don't know, so many people have come up to me and have met me and been
06:31like, you got me through my breakup regarding like selfish or reckless, which means so much
06:35to me.
06:35And like, literally, I can't tell you how many times I've heard that exact sentence.
06:38And I love it so much because I think that people listen to it and relate because someone
06:43has treated them like that.
06:44But I also want people who are going through a breakup to listen to bittersweet and be
06:49like, oh, you know, you can be happy and sad and you can have it feel sort of like a wave
06:54that you're riding.
06:55It doesn't have to be this one note sort of situation because that's, that's, that's like
06:59the real, realness, you know, it's like we can all pretend like it's just clean.
07:03Maybe some people it is not for me.
07:04Like, I'm just not a clean cut.
07:06My feelings are severed kind of person.
07:08Like I, I feel everything.
07:11So, um, yeah.
07:13So yeah, we encapsulated it perfectly like in the song and obviously the music video
07:17too.
07:18And shout out to Sean for being such a good part of that.
07:20He's awesome.
07:21We had so much fun.
07:22Some right turn pretty cameo.
07:23Have you ever talked about which team you're on?
07:25Have you watched that show?
07:26I'm going to be so honest.
07:27I haven't even watched the show, which is why I'm so fraudulent for having him in my
07:30video.
07:30No, literally none of it.
07:31I've never seen the show.
07:32And he was like, honestly, it's better that you haven't.
07:34Like, I feel like, I feel like we were able to improv with each other better because I'm
07:39also someone that if I've watched your work and I'm into it, I'm so nervous around
07:43you and I've become a little bit weird.
07:45And so it's almost, it was better that I hadn't seen the show, but, um, I'm going to
07:49watch it now, but I'm Steve, team Steven.
07:52Team Steven.
07:53You'll be happy.
07:53I think.
07:54Yeah.
07:54I mean, I hope he goes through his own arc.
07:56He's an underrated arc too.
07:58That's why I chose him.
07:59Cause I was like, I've heard that he, he does his own thing.
08:02Yeah.
08:02Which I like.
08:03There's nothing like that too.
08:04When you go up to someone, you're like, that was a cool dude.
08:05And it's like, Oh, it's the president of whatever.
08:07Exactly.
08:07And then you start freaking out.
08:08You're like, Oh, thank goodness.
08:10Exactly.
08:11Exactly.
08:11Shout out to Steven though.
08:12He did.
08:12Or Sean.
08:13Sorry.
08:13Just thinking of the CEO of Google.
08:16No, he's the best.
08:17It was so fun.
08:17He like, we riffed all day together.
08:19It was like, just, it was really fun.
08:20Well, you could tell even in the ending clip, it's like, this was so fun.
08:23Yeah.
08:23That was also like the ending clip I wanted to throw in there.
08:25Cause I was like, no, we did do dialogue, but I, yeah, it was, well, everything was just,
08:29nothing was scripted really.
08:30We had like a little bit of a open the door dialogue, break up with her, give her stuff.
08:35That was it.
08:35But everything that was in between was just completely improv.
08:38And yeah, that one was funny.
08:38Cause I'm just like, hi, what do you mean?
08:42Hi.
08:42I'm like, what do you mean?
08:43Hi.
08:43Like it was just, it was just great.
08:45And also watching him try to play a jerk, you could tell it was very difficult for him.
08:49So I thought that was endearing and sweet.
08:51We both had a lot of fun with it that day, but also just the last thing I'll say about
08:53bittersweet is like what felt really special about the video and the song to me is like,
08:57it's not only about this relationship and a breakup.
09:00It's really about like my life and like my life in this position and whatnot.
09:04And my fans actually picked up on like my first music video melodies was a kind of a
09:09reference for this video and the same sort of sudden confetti parade thing.
09:13And a lot of it is, is also referring to not being bitter about my past and like not having
09:19to always control the narrative, being able to let go a little bit.
09:22Like that's, that's been something that's been really huge for me.
09:25So that, that's the other meaning I just want to put out there in the song is it's not only
09:28a relationship, it is a little bit of like, I can be bitter about things that have happened
09:32to me, but I'm choosing to be bittersweet.
09:34That's growth.
09:35Yes.
09:36That's what it's all about.
09:37And you've talked about the growth just as an artist too, you know, you're like songwriting,
09:41producing everything.
09:43What is like a production detail?
09:44I'm always curious about a production detail or a lyric maybe on this new project that you're
09:49like particularly proud of, or you can't wait for us to hear.
09:51My goodness.
09:52I wish I could tell you more because I just, I'm trying to be better this time around and
09:56like not spill everything.
09:57Come on, let's go Instagram live real quick.
09:59No, literally.
10:00I can't because I'm just, I'll say everything.
10:02Um, the, is it the third track?
10:05I want to say it's the third, it's the third track on the album.
10:08I'll tell you that, um, the intro for it, I'm super proud of cause it was like totally
10:13my idea and I just am proud of it.
10:15It came out really cool.
10:16I love that.
10:16That's all I could tell you for now.
10:17All right.
10:18I'm sorry.
10:18Just keep thinking.
10:19Hopefully it's a, yeah, I can't wait to hear it.
10:21I mean, it won't be too long.
10:22It won't be that long.
10:23Until January 16th.
10:24Drop it now.
10:25No, it literally feels like forever, but also tomorrow.
10:28So performing Bittersweet Live, obviously you did it for the Victoria's Secret Fashion
10:31Show.
10:32What's your like vision for this song once you get to do it live though?
10:35I don't know.
10:36I feel like I genuinely have no idea.
10:38Like I've, tour is definitely something that I'm planning and wanting to do, but what it's
10:44going to look like and be like, I have no idea.
10:46I'm just like not there yet.
10:47Honestly, I feel like because of just the time we're in right now, I picture like snow
10:52falling during that song.
10:53It has such a snow globe feel, doesn't it?
10:55Like I just want to be spinning a snow globe.
10:57I'm annoyed.
10:58I didn't do that for the video, but yeah, it has like a snow globe vibe in my brain.
11:03If you get out there in January and the album's out, it'll fit.
11:06When you see it, remember I said it, but yeah, no, I don't know.
11:08We'll see.
11:09Talking about a Victoria's Secret fashion show, like what is going through your mind
11:13when you're doing this?
11:14Because I feel like fear, anxiety, you're walking, I'm guessing in heels, right?
11:19Yeah.
11:19And I don't really wear heels.
11:20So singing your brand new song in front of people for the first time.
11:23Yes.
11:24What was that day like as a whole?
11:25And what are you thinking when you're doing that?
11:27You know, like these, these broadcast live things of any kind are crazy.
11:34I don't even think people realize like the backstage behind the scenes of what goes on
11:37with like a live broadcasted thing.
11:40It is every step is, is choreographed and ever it's, it's, it's the craziest thing I've
11:45ever seen.
11:45I haven't done that many things like this, like live, live meaning because they transparently
11:51petrify me.
11:52Yeah.
11:52So, cause you, you mess up one thing.
11:53Like it's, it's out there.
11:56Um, so Victoria's Secret, I don't know if this is public.
11:58I think it is.
11:58They, they usually will like pre-record one or two takes of the broadcast, like before
12:03the broadcast is live so that they can have something, you know, when they upload it to
12:07YouTube to clip between, if there's an audio, if there's a mic, if the mic goes out, they
12:10have audio from earlier, whatever, things like that.
12:13So they record each rehearsal so they can use it.
12:18Sorry if this is not public knowledge, Victoria's Secret.
12:20I think it is though.
12:21Cause someone said it online anyway.
12:22So we were supposed to do three of those.
12:26We did one and everything went wrong.
12:28Oh man.
12:28And, um, my walk didn't work.
12:31The timing was off.
12:33Um, there's a bunch of camera moments that you probably don't notice, but if you watch
12:36my performance back, there's like a camera moment.
12:37I look up, there used to be this like vintage mic that dropped down during bittersweet and
12:42I would pass my mic to someone singing to the vintage mic and then grab it back.
12:47And the move was just not working very well.
12:50Like it wasn't, it wasn't very fluid.
12:52And so literally after the first rehearsal, I was like, I think we should ditch.
12:55I told charm, who's the choreographer.
12:57I was like, I think we should ditch the changing of the mics.
13:00First of all, it's going to, the sound is going to change.
13:02Like the sound is going to change.
13:04I think that's a little weird.
13:04Also, if it doesn't go perfectly, this thing is coming down from like 40 feet or like 30
13:09feet in the air and it swings a little bit when it comes down that I'm like, what if
13:12it's over here?
13:13It's just not worth the risk, you know?
13:14So we cut this thing and then we didn't get to do the additional two run-throughs.
13:18So we only did a run-through one time, didn't rehearse the mic trick, didn't rehearse my
13:23walk properly.
13:25I only got to sing through the performance once.
13:28So I was just panicked, transparently, like genuinely panicked.
13:32Multiple people had to come to my room and talk me down from like the verge of a panic
13:35attack beforehand.
13:37I was just scared.
13:38I think also because this is like my Super Bowl, I knew how much pressure was on me.
13:42The wings, just the whole thing.
13:44The whole thing was scary.
13:45I also had not practiced with the wind.
13:48There's wind at the end of the runway.
13:49So many.
13:50So right when I got out there and I was standing like this, I felt the wind on my back and
13:53I was like, oh God, I really got to make sure I like catch my hair in the wind.
13:57There's just so much that was going through my brain.
14:00And for that reason, when it finished and I walked down the runway, also the only thing I
14:05told myself before walking down the runway was do not walk with both of your hands on
14:10your hips.
14:10I don't know why because people do that and it looks great, but I just didn't want it.
14:13I wanted either one hand on my hip or none and then a hand on the hip at the end.
14:17The entire walk was me with both hands on my hips, of course, but it's okay.
14:21People didn't have an issue with it.
14:22Now that I'm pointing it out, they may.
14:23So then after I was done with my set, I literally turned the corner and run off stage and I just
14:30dropped to my knees and started screaming at the top of my lungs, actually also like bursted
14:34out.
14:34I've never really understood the term bursted out into tears.
14:36I bursted out into tears and just, it was like such an overwhelming feeling because I
14:41wasn't expecting it to go well.
14:42And it, it like went perfectly in my eyes and it was just such a relief and oh my goodness,
14:48I can't even tell you like that feeling of just being like, I did it and I didn't trip
14:52and I didn't like everything went right somehow.
14:54And shout out to everyone who worked on that.
14:56The dancers were incredible.
14:58Everyone who made the outfits, like all the models.
15:00It was just such, it was an unreal day.
15:02Gosh.
15:03I can't imagine.
15:03Very grateful.
15:04That's the rundown though.
15:05That was my day.
15:05And it really is like you said, it is like the Superbowl.
15:07Like every girl lists this off.
15:09Like I would list off football players.
15:11Like they know, oh, it's this model, this model, this model.
15:12Yes.
15:13I'm like.
15:13100%.
15:14Your girlfriend was telling me all about it.
15:15I'm like, gosh, you know all the analytics.
15:16You guys can say to us, oh, name, name Bubba Baws and then we can say to you, you name
15:19Victoria's Secret Angels and we can do it.
15:21I give you so much credit.
15:21I feel like walking is such an underrated hard thing when everyone's watching you.
15:25Oh my gosh.
15:25I look like, I was just thinking about like people watching you and trying to walk and
15:28I'm like, like lanky, like my arms are a little too long.
15:31And so I think that I was glad that I put my hands on my hips, but like, yeah, there's
15:35just, there's a lot that can go wrong.
15:37Yeah.
15:38So you crushed it.
15:39Thank you so much.
15:40It was really fun.
15:40I'm stressed just thinking about it.
15:42It was scary, but, but fun.
15:43Live.
15:44You did it.
15:45Gosh, that's so fun though.
15:46Thanks.
15:47All right.
15:48So back to music.
15:49I was like, I'm so excited to like learn about that.
15:51I had to give you the rundown too.
15:52Like no one's, no one's heard the rundown.
15:54So you're a broadcast show.
15:54I'm like always curious about how others do it.
15:56So that's so impressive.
15:57Yeah.
15:57It's crazy.
15:58I feel like there's a shift going on right between your sound.
16:01Like it was such a dance pop for a second and now you're moving into, I don't know,
16:06what would you say more mature or like reflective maybe?
16:09Yeah.
16:09Yeah.
16:10What was the turning point where you said like, this is the album I want to make now?
16:13I think the tour really pushed me in this direction.
16:16Like I, um, I love my album sounds between songs, like don't get me wrong.
16:20And I don't want to speak ill on my child, but she accomplished what I wanted to accomplish
16:26with it, with, which was just, hello, which was just telling my story and being vulnerable
16:32and, you know, explaining things I've been through and just like taking my truth and being
16:39like, this is what I've experienced.
16:40You know, that was kind of the energy with that.
16:43And then with the dance stuff, I was like, okay, well now I want to have fun and I want
16:46to make a song for tour that is fun.
16:48Literally make you mine was made just for tour.
16:50And then when I finished tour and I started making this project, I was like, how can I
16:56mix all of that and life support and like my EP?
17:00Like, how can I just mash everything I love about everything together?
17:04And I feel like that is something that I'm really proud of because I feel like I really
17:06achieved that.
17:07And everyone who knows me that I've played the whole album for, they're like, it's just
17:11so you, like everything about it.
17:12I don't know how to explain that.
17:14And that sounds kind of dumb, but like each sound is picked, was picked by me and like
17:18every note, it just, it's just so me.
17:21Like it just sounds like me.
17:23And so I'm just really proud and excited about it because it just feels like everything I've
17:26ever worked towards now makes sense.
17:29And now feels like it's falling into place.
17:31And I just, I really just love this project.
17:33I love that.
17:33It has to be such a good feeling too, right?
17:35Totally.
17:36It's the best feeling ever.
17:36Um, with locket, I want to make sure I get this quote, right?
17:40You've said it's, um, metaphorical locket for safekeeping.
17:44What does that metaphor like means you personally and creatively?
17:46I'd love to hear more about that.
17:48Yeah.
17:48I mean, I think like lockets literally are something that is close to your heart and
17:51people put photos inside of them today.
17:53I have my cats in my, Oh, so it's literally the locket.
17:56Let me see.
17:56I have like a billion and they're all vintage.
17:58I actually have one that I made.
18:00Are you getting a closeup on this?
18:01Here we go.
18:02Boom.
18:02There they are.
18:03They're my caties.
18:04You have a million of these.
18:05What's the most random one you have?
18:07I literally have so many, like probably like Rick and Morty or like Adventure Time.
18:10Rick and Morty locket?
18:12Yeah.
18:12No, I honestly just have so many vintage lockets.
18:14I've been collecting vintage jewelry and just random stuff for years and I've collected
18:19a lot of vintage lockets and, um, that was a huge reason why the album name was chosen.
18:25Like that was because it just was something that was actually in my day-to-day life and
18:28something that I really have a part of me.
18:30Yeah, I just, I just feel like that's, that's, you hold memories, you hold things that are
18:34safe and you want to keep them close to you.
18:36But also like you'll hear on a song on the album, I talk about how my locket is something
18:41that I metaphorically carry with me, which is inclusive of the good and the bad and things
18:46that have been hard and things that have been intense and whatever.
18:49And it holds and in the bittersweet video, you see, I open it and has memories of me and,
18:52um, Sean.
18:54And yeah, it's just, it's, it's everything and it's also the music is in there and it
18:59just feels like something that I keep close to me.
19:01Also something that I like to get off my chest once in a while.
19:03Like there's a lot of metaphors that I feel like work with it.
19:05Um, but yeah, at the end of the day, like it really is to me, when you think locket,
19:09you think something that means a lot to you is in there and that's what the album is.
19:13Yeah.
19:14Yeah.
19:14That's great.
19:15I know you're not going to tell me much about it.
19:16You already said that, but is there any song, I mean, I, we got bittersweet.
19:20Yes, baby.
19:20Um, any other songs you're especially excited for fans to hear that maybe feel like unlike
19:25anything you put out before?
19:27There's one that they definitely already know the title of.
19:29I can say that.
19:31Um, and is, what is that?
19:33Hmm.
19:34What is it?
19:34Hmm.
19:35Okay.
19:35You said they knew it.
19:36I just, I didn't know.
19:37They know it.
19:37You don't, they do, but I, yeah, you'll see it on Twitter.
19:41Um, they, they know a title.
19:43I can confirm that.
19:44I'm not gonna tell you which one, but yeah, I don't know.
19:47I just, I'm excited for all of them.
19:51Yeah.
19:51I have a different favorite every day too.
19:53Like I've had it for a while now, so I really sit with it.
19:55Um, but, and I'm excited to get back in and make a deluxe.
19:58Great.
19:59That's gonna be fun.
19:59I want to make a deluxe.
20:00So I'm like, not, I'm not, I don't even need to lie and hide, hide that.
20:03Like I, I want a deluxe.
20:04So 11 songs.
20:05Come on.
20:06Yeah.
20:06Got it.
20:06We need more.
20:07I'm going to, I'm going to give you more.
20:08Um, I'm trying to hit everything else.
20:10I can't, any surprises in what you discovered about yourself in this album?
20:13Um, to trust myself more, I guess.
20:18Like I, I made a lot of these songs early in the writing process and I think I was overthinking
20:22them and I was like in dissect mode and I was like, oh, this could be better and this
20:26could be better.
20:27But I actually just made stuff that I really liked.
20:29And I just think trusting my first instinct in general, I can learn a little bit to do
20:33that more.
20:34And this album showed me that like my first instincts are usually right.
20:37Yeah.
20:38Got to go with that gut feeling.
20:39Yeah.
20:39Um, anything else I missed?
20:41I'm trying to think of like, what about aesthetic?
20:43Any other worlds you're trying to create with Lock It?
20:45Oh, I'm sure.
20:46My music videos, I love to just tap into whatever.
20:48And I feel like that's, that was so exciting for me from Yes Baby to Bittersweet.
20:51It's like, it couldn't be more different, I feel like.
20:53And I'm excited to just see what, what comes next.
20:56Like I want to just keep playing characters and tap into all these different films I love
21:01and just whatever feels right for the song is what I will deliver you.
21:05So snow globe on the way.
21:06Yeah.
21:07Honestly, we'll get that.
21:08Honestly, there's no limits to happen.
21:10Well, before we let you go, I would love to, we played a game last time.
21:13We played Madison Beer Pong and you kicked my ass, I think.
21:15I think I got destroyed.
21:16So I'm trying to redeem myself.
21:18Okay.
21:18Not in Beer Pong.
21:19I'm not good at Beer Pong anymore.
21:21I retired that.
21:21Well, you wore a Duke sweater and you were like, it's like you went to college or something.
21:24I know, that was craziness.
21:26This will play through the headphones for us.
21:28This is called Beat the Intro.
21:30How good are you at like a song starts and you're like, that's this song?
21:33If I know it well, I'm good at it.
21:35But if I don't, I'm not.
21:36I mean, that's a stupid answer, duh.
21:38Well, we're going to try because I have no idea what these songs are.
21:40We're going to play one second of the intro.
21:42I'm not good at this.
21:43Okay, fine.
21:44Neither am I.
21:44Fine.
21:45Maybe I am.
21:45I play these songs every day on the radio.
21:47So maybe, um, I don't know what any of these are.
21:49Are they radio songs?
21:49I don't know.
21:50Maybe.
21:50Oh goodness.
21:51Maybe they're your songs.
21:52Maybe they're Michael Jackson songs.
21:55Who knows?
21:55Let's try this first one.
21:56Let's see how this sounds.
21:57And, uh, you just blurt it out if you know what it is.
22:00Okay.
22:00I don't know how loud this is going to be to embrace yourself.
22:06Do you know it?
22:07No.
22:08Let's try it again.
22:11Wait, I kind of do know it.
22:13Hold on.
22:14Sounds familiar.
22:15Wait, I do.
22:15It's a girl.
22:16It's a girl group?
22:17Okay.
22:17No, not.
22:20I'm trying to think.
22:21Is it a girl group?
22:22I don't know.
22:23Is it Gabriella?
22:24I don't know.
22:24I don't know either.
22:25Let's play the chorus and see if you're right.
22:28I could be so wrong.
22:28That's insane.
22:32Come on.
22:33I'm like, I just, you know, I'm going to be so honest.
22:35I actually have like only heard the song on the radio.
22:37And so I only know the chorus, but that sound is very specific.
22:40That's insane.
22:40Also, it should be like a walk in the park for me.
22:42No, you should have known that one.
22:43That one plays on the radio all the time.
22:45Sorry, Cat's Eye.
22:46That is one of my favorite songs.
22:48Okay.
22:48Next one.
22:49I'm going to come back on this one.
22:50I can feel it.
22:51Here it is.
22:54Crazy.
22:56That's what it is.
22:57It is, right?
22:57Come on.
22:59You know that.
23:00I knew it.
23:00I couldn't think of the name.
23:01I was like.
23:04In my head, I was like, it's CeeLo Green, right?
23:07Is it?
23:08Doesn't matter.
23:09You won that one too.
23:09Okay.
23:10So there's three songs left.
23:11I have to get them all right to win.
23:12We need more than this.
23:13Okay, fine.
23:14Get ready for a comeback.
23:16It's you.
23:17No, wait a minute.
23:18It's not me.
23:19That's not selfish.
23:20No.
23:20You think it's selfish.
23:21It's not selfish.
23:21It's not selfish?
23:22No.
23:23No.
23:24What is that?
23:24Do you not know?
23:25No.
23:26So this is your chance.
23:28Play it again.
23:30Turn it up even more.
23:31What is that?
23:32It's not selfish.
23:35It's this big buildup.
23:36I need a hint.
23:37Brooke, give us a hint.
23:39Song three.
23:41It's big on TikTok.
23:42Big on TikTok.
23:43It's an R&B artist.
23:45Oh, is it folded?
23:47Kehlani?
23:47Yeah.
23:48Okay, I don't know the intro.
23:50Oh, good.
23:50There you go.
23:52That's a great choice.
23:53Good song.
23:56Oh, she does the best voice of all time.
23:59I love that songs like that pop up later, you know?
24:02100%.
24:02Like, they should get the love early on, but I'm glad.
24:04And you have that, too.
24:05Now I've experienced it.
24:06All right, here we go.
24:06So it's one, two.
24:07Here it comes.
24:09I thought I'd be so much better.
24:10Okay, make you mine.
24:11That's a tie, right?
24:12Yes.
24:13Okay, perfect.
24:13You knew.
24:14You knew.
24:14I was like...
24:16I was thinking, there has to be one Madison song.
24:19Thank goodness.
24:20Also, just that, like, ah, is so specific.
24:25This is for a thousand points.
24:28Ready?
24:29Here we go.
24:29I love that.
24:29I'm just like the cold shoulder to the camera.
24:31Here it is.
24:31That sounded like another EDM party.
24:41Unfamiliar.
24:42I thought I was going to crush this game.
24:45Because it's like, I don't know.
24:47Fully never heard.
24:48I'm going to listen to the chorus.
24:49Whoever names it first.
24:54It's the soda pop song.
24:56I've never heard this.
24:59We're back.
25:00I think that makes me...
25:01That's unfair.
25:02It's from K-pop Demon Hunters.
25:04You're a cheater.
25:05I didn't pick them.
25:06Cheater.
25:07I didn't pick these games.
25:08I think I won that.
25:09Shout out to K-pop Demon Hunters.
25:11All right, we'll have to...
25:11When the album's out, we'll run it back for another game.
25:13We'll run it back with a hundred songs.
25:15It's a hundred songs while playing beer pong.
25:17Madison, thank you so much for playing.
25:19Good to see you.
25:20Good to see you, too.
25:21Congrats on everything.
25:22Thanks.
25:31Good to see you.
