00:00I want to thank my hero and maestro David Lynch, who gave me the opportunity at 17 years old
00:07to play a rather archetypal girl next door character in the film Blue Velvet,
00:14while only maybe two years later he allowed me to completely discover the most radically
00:23opposite kind of, again, perhaps archetype, with this shift into exploring a sex siren of sorts.
00:32And then years later, along with Justin, amongst all the other work that he would have allowed me
00:39to be part of, he asked me to play, Justin knows this, not one but four different characters,
00:47because he never saw anyone as one thing, not any of you as one thing, not any actor or artist as one
00:56thing, always teaching me to trust endless potential, and not only in myself, but more
01:02specifically in all the women that he wanted to explore in story, all the women that I have had
01:10the privilege to play and learn from, and never to be defined, but always to be explored through
01:17storytelling. And may we, may all of you, in your guidance and your art, help artists and women
01:25find their way to that.
