00:08First up, Representative Zia Alonto Adiong of Lanao del Sur condemned the online attacks and mockery directed at the Philippine Coast Guard and stressed the importance of modernizing the agency.
00:19He introduced House Bill 5552, which aims to amend the Philippine Coast Guard law to better equip the PCG in defending the country's maritime sovereignty.
00:30Particularly in the West Philippine Sea.
00:32The bill proposes reforms such as military-aligned rank system, enhanced maritime safety and law enforcement, and support for PCG families, including full scholarships for children of fallen officers.
00:45Adiong called the bill a tribute to the bravery of the PCG and a strong rebuttal against those who belittle their sacrifices.
00:52He also urged Filipinos to stay alert and reject the spread of this information, especially those supporting narratives that undermine the PCG's efforts in protecting the nation's waters.
01:03The Department of Justice launched the Justice Summit today to discuss measures for ensuring the safety of children, coinciding with Children's Month this November.
01:14The summit aims to create a whole-of-government approach to prevent abuse and exploitation of children, both online and offline.
01:22Although the number of abused children has slightly decreased from 2022 to 2024, child labor remains a significant issue that many people are unaware of as a form of abuse.
01:33The DOJ also emphasizes the importance of public awareness about children's rights violations and the need for fast responders to reports of child maltreatment.
01:43According to Undersecretary Frederick Davida, the Philippine population of children highlighting the country's responsibility to protect them.
