Taiwan's defense minister, Wellington Koo, says the government is doing its best to speed up arms deliveries from the US, especially fighter jets, glide bombs and heavy torpedoes. Koo said the US has set up a special project office for some weapons orders while the manufacturer of the F-16V fighter jets Taiwan has ordered is running assembly lines 20 hours a day to overcome the backlog.

00:52Kou also gave updates on another delayed project, Taiwan's domestically-made submarine the Haikun,
00:58saying the Defense Ministry will fine the shipbuilder for failing to meet deadlines.
01:19The Haikun was originally meant to be delivered in November, but it's only finished part of its testing.
