Transcript
00:00Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to our benefit concert for the parishioners of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church in Spring, Texas.
00:19As some of you have heard at Mass this morning and last night, their church was devastated, and from Patrizio's communication with their pastor,
00:31we know that they have been celebrating Mass wherever they can find room, in auditoriums, in schools, basically anywhere they can find room.
00:40And I remember when my family moved to Maywood back in 2000, the first renovation was going on in this church, and we were celebrating Mass down in the auditorium.
00:51And I remember how awkward that was, but we knew that in a few months, we would be coming back up to the church proper.
00:58These people don't have that right now. So what you're able to give at this concert is going to help them rebuild their church.
01:07So we would love to share some hope and joy through our music this afternoon.
01:13You'll be hearing from a few soloists and our Greenpeace Choir, so please sit back, relax, and enjoy. Thank you.
01:24Thank you all for coming. It's a pleasure to see you all here. One of the beautiful things about music, you know, in the last couple of weeks, we have had a lot of hurricanes and earthquakes, a lot of disaster.
01:46But what music does is music heals. And it's beautiful to see how all the characters and some of our guests, artists came together here and choir to come together to support a beautiful cause, but also the music finds a healing. It's a beautiful thing.
02:12And I'm very thankful to Allison, to Allegra, to Megan, to Tim, and to all the choir members for making this concert possible.
02:23So we're going to start with the choir. Now, let me invite all the people I've seen in the back, if you would like to come closer.
02:35So if you'd better sound, you don't have to. I'm just sure that if you're in the back, you'd better sound better if you'd come closer.
02:44Anyway, so yeah. So let's start with our choir, please. Thank you.
03:39I ever ran, I ever ran.
03:45You was in the home of heaven,
03:47that was down with heaven.
03:50And sing with us,
03:51all our arms to look at our heads,
03:54All the earth's you wish and all the earth's you wish,
03:58all the earth's you wish and all the earth's you wish.
04:03Sing with us, all our arms to look at our heads,
05:07Just a few words.
05:12This is a song that will be very familiar to you all, but it is also very much in prayer.
05:17And it's quite a personal being in this sacred space.
05:20And God made this earth all sacred, right?
05:22So we are united and close-knit neighbors.
05:26But these are not happy to be actually physical neighbors.
05:28But right now, in prayer, everything is made that much more close, right?
05:35So I invite you rather to join me in prayer as I sing this song.
05:40Amen.
05:41Amen.
05:42Amen.
05:44Amen.

07:59I'm so happy to be here singing with you all today.
08:21This next donation a lot of you might know, feel free to sing along.
08:29My day in the hills has come to an end, I know.
08:44A store has come out to tell me it's time to go.
08:58But deep in the dark green shadows are voices that hurt me to stay.
09:10So I cross and I wait and I listen for one more smile, for one more lovely thing that my ears might stay.
09:30My ears are alive in the sound of music.
09:42My ears are alive in the sound of music.
09:54My ears fill my heart in the sound of music.
10:06My heart wants to sing every song in tears.
10:16My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds and eyes from the lakes to the trees.
10:28My heart wants to sigh like a giant eyes from a church on trees.
10:40To laugh by the brook at the trips that falls over stones in its way.
10:52My heart wants to sing through the night.
10:54My heart wants to sing through the night.
10:56My heart wants to cry.
10:58My heart wants to sing through the night.
11:00My heart wants to sing through the night.
11:04I go to the hills, but my heart is holy.
11:14I know I will hear what I've heard before.
11:22My heart will be blessed in the sound of music, and I'll sing once more.
11:52For those of you who know me, but don't know this night outside, this is my husband,
12:22and we have the privilege of being able to share two different events with you today,
12:28so this is the first of them.
12:30And it's one of those songs that's very special to my family as a military family,
12:38and I think you'll understand why once you hear the lyrics.
12:42Try to pull out the stand.
12:46Let's play.
12:52Let's play.
12:54Let's play.
12:56Let's play.
12:58Let's play.
13:00Let's play.
13:02Let's play.
13:04Let's play.
13:05Let's play.
13:06Let's play.
13:07Let's play.
13:08Let's play.
13:09Let's play.
13:10Let's play.
13:11Let's play.
13:12Let's play.
13:13Let's play.
13:14Let's play.
13:15Let's play.
13:16Let's play.
13:17Let's play.
13:18Let's play.
13:19Let's play.
13:20Let's play.
13:21Let's play.
13:22Let's play.
13:26Someone's making love me and light me tonight
13:37Somewhere out there
13:42Someone's saying a prayer
13:48That we'll find one another
13:53In a place somewhere out there
13:59And even though I know how very far apart we are
14:05Down to think we might be watching on the same great star
14:11And when the night there starts to sing
14:15Oh, stop, I'm mine
14:17It helps to think what's lately
14:20We love you with the sacred sky
14:26Somewhere out there
14:31In the past he was new
14:37Then we'll be together
14:42Somewhere out there
14:45And where dreams come true
14:51Are you alone
14:57Then we'll be together
14:58Forward go
14:59Go
15:00Get pummeled
15:02Someone's saying
15:04Go
15:05Go
15:07Go
15:09Go
15:10Go
15:12Go
15:13Go
15:15And even though I don't know how very far apart we are,
15:30Hell's the thing will be my illusion on the same bright star.
15:36And when my nightmare starts to see the ghost of the vine,
15:42It helps to think we're sleeping, I should keep the safety star.
15:51Somewhere out there, in love and see us,
16:01Then we'll be together in the earth, somewhere out there,
16:10And where dreams come true.
16:20This is another one you all probably know, if you haven't heard of in a while.
16:45If you haven't heard of in a while.
16:56You think I'm ignorant and savage,
16:59And in so many places I guess it must be so.
17:04But still I cannot see, if this sight was me.
17:11How can there be so much that you don't know?
17:19You don't know.
17:25You think you own whatever land you land on,
17:37The earth is just a death and you can play.
17:42But I'm a weary rock and tree and creature,
17:47As a life, as a spirit, as a nature.
17:54You think the only people who are people,
17:59Are the people who look and feel like you.
18:04Think of a fight,
18:05Like there's a struggle,
18:06I've got a struggle.
18:07You think you're a star,
18:08You think you're a stranger.
18:11What are things you never knew,
18:13You never knew.
18:16How can you ever hear the mind,
18:19You learn good?
18:22What else is written?
18:25I've got my ingribs.
18:28Can you sing with all the hoistings in the mountains?
18:35Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
18:41Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
18:48Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
18:57Come from the hip and high trails of the forest.
19:02Come take the sun, sweet berries of the earth.
19:07Come look in all the wretches all around you.
19:12And for us, never mattered what there were.
19:18The rain is warm and the blue are my brothers.
19:24The heaven that we offer are my friends.
19:30And we are all connected to each other.
19:35In a circle, in a world that never ends.
19:42How do I just ignore the road?
19:48If you cut it down, then you'll never know.
19:57Then you'll ever hear the white or blue or blue.
20:04Or I'll hurry up all your lover's skin.
20:10We need to sing with all the hoistings of the mountains.
20:16We need to paint with all the colors of the wind.
20:23We need to paint with all the colors of the wind.
20:33We need to paint with all the colors of the wind.
20:52We need to paint with all the valleys.
21:00We need to paint with all the colors of the wind.
21:13Hello again.
21:17So we're going from Colors of the Wind to Over the Rainbow.
21:43Some way over you, way over by.
21:56There's a laugh that I've learned once in a lifetime.
22:07Some way over you, skies are blue.
22:19And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
22:31Some day I'll wish upon a star and wake away the clouds are far behind me.
22:42Where troubles melt like lemon clouds, away above the chimney's house.
22:48That's where you'll find me.
22:54Some way over you, blue birds fly.
23:08Birds fly over the rainbow.
23:14Why, well, why can't I?
23:20If happy little blue birds fly beyond the rainbow.
23:32If happy little blue birds fly beyond the rainbow.
23:42Why, oh, why can't I?
23:54So this next song, even with the theme of Oz now, is Four Foot from Wicked.
24:11And I just want to thank you to our wonderful duet partner.
24:15Who, this morning, had never seen this music before.
24:18But we need a friend to sing.
24:20And you're so brilliant with the music.
24:22And you're going to have a thing for you now.
24:25So, thank you, thank you for the truth.
24:27Yeah.
24:28I think I'm sorry.
24:29No, I'll try.
24:41I've heard it said, that people come into our lives for a reason.
24:55Bringing something we must learn, and we are glad.
25:01To those who help us must grow, if we let them.
25:07And we help them in return.
25:11Well, I won't know if I believe that's true.
25:16But I know who I am today.
25:19Because I knew you.
25:24Like a thaw in both corporate, as it passes the sun.
25:30And my dream that kids are older, have they through the door?
25:38Who can say if I can change for the better?
25:43But because I knew you, I haven't changed for the better.
25:55If you fail, maybe, that we will never meet again.
26:05If it's my time.
26:08So, let me say before you part, so much of me.
26:16It's my dream that I've heard from you.
26:19It's my dream that I've heard from you.
26:21You'll live with me.
26:24Like a hand print on my floor.
26:28And now I will make our stories end.
26:34I know you'll have a vivid life, by thinking my breath on the land.
26:44Like a ship that calls a rocket's glory, by a wing of the sea.
26:51Like a sea dropped by the skyward, in the descent of the Lord.
26:59Who can say that I've been changed for the better?
27:05But because I knew you, because I knew you, I have been changed for good.
27:19And just to clear the air, I ask forgiveness for the things I've ever played before.
27:29But that I guess we know there's a way to share.
27:35And nothing exists to matter anymore.
27:41I know I've been walking for a cross, as it passes the skyward.
27:47Like a ship that brings a soldier, I have been on.
27:55Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
28:03I do believe I have been changed for the better.
28:11And because I knew you, because I knew you, because I knew you, I have been changed.
28:33I have been changed for good.
29:03So Tim and I first sang this song a few weeks ago for Art and Callie Penn-Hugh's 15th anniversary party.
29:16So we're freezing it now and sending our very, very best waves and prayers to Callie. It was not your best day.
29:33I pray you'll be our eyes and watch us where we go and help us to be wise.
30:01In times when we don't know, let us be our prayer as we go away.
30:20Lead us to a place, ride us with your grace, to a place where we'll be safe.
30:35I pray you'll find your love and hold in our hearts.
30:50In times when we don't know, let us be our prayer.
31:05In times when we don't know, let us be our prayer.
31:08In times when we don't know, let us be our prayer.
31:12Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace.
31:20In times when we don't know, let us be our prayer.
31:23In times when we don't know, let us be our prayer.
31:28We'll be our prayer.
31:30Oh
32:00Yes, and I may try to lead
32:06And march us from above
32:10Before we serve and love
32:15Let us know what's going on
32:21Let us be a prayer
32:27Just like every child, need to find a place, guide us with your grace.
32:43Give us faith so we'll be safe.
32:51Give us faith so we'll be safe.
33:01Give us faith so we'll be safe.
33:21So we're so blessed to have a home here in this beautiful parish, to have homes that keep
33:44us safe.
33:45And this little portion of our music is going to focus on that a little bit.
33:52But this one's going to lighten it up a bit first.
33:56You know where this is going.
34:03And this one's going to lighten it up a bit.
34:10And this one's going to lighten it up a bit.
34:17We'll see you next time.
34:18We'll see you next time.
34:24Bye.
34:28But don't make it not for me
34:32Won't I swap hands on fate?
34:35I won't let it be lovely
34:40I won't show the lies
34:43And act as the blue breeze did
34:48I know never much to scream
34:54Crandall, you can see you
34:57Someone's egg resting on my knee
35:01More than tender as he can be
35:06Who take the care of me?
35:10How wouldn't it be lovely
35:17Lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely
35:30We should all just give Patrizio a really big round of applause
35:45He spoke out a month
35:56It was his idea of putting this concert together
35:59And because we've all been so busy
36:01He only got some music this morning
36:04And he and I bring masses today also
36:07So he's pulled together a lot of music
36:10Amazingly well and amazingly fast
36:12So thank you so much
36:21This next column is very close to my heart
36:23And as the library said
36:25We are so lucky to have our own homes to go home to
36:29And to have this wonderful parish home
36:32To come and be together
36:35And sometimes we don't have that
36:40And sometimes we're somewhere
36:42And we wish we'd be somewhere else
36:44And really home is where the heart is
36:48And that's what we all sometimes need to remember a little bit more
36:54Is this home? Is this where I should learn to be happy?
37:13Is this home? Is this where I should learn to be happy?
37:23Never dreamed that a home could be dark and cold
37:32I was told
37:33I was told
37:35Every day for my childhood
37:38Even when people loved
37:43Home should be where the heart is
37:48Never a word so true
37:53My heart's far, far away
37:58Home is true
38:03What I'd give to return
38:08To the life that I've lived lately
38:12But I know that I can't
38:17Stop my problems flowing back
38:24Is this home? Am I here for the day or forever?
38:33Shuck away from the world until
38:39Who knows where
38:44Where once again
38:47As when life has been altered
38:49Once it can change again
38:54Yet I know what around me
38:59Change every look and keep
39:03Nothing else
39:05Nothing else
39:06Nothing close
39:08Above me
39:10My heart's far, far away
39:19Home and free
39:24At me
39:27As if
39:28I live
39:29I live
39:31To day
39:32I live
39:33Am I here
39:34I live
39:35To day
39:36And
39:37To night
39:37I live
39:38To day
39:39How document
39:41I live
39:42Can
39:43It
39:44To day
39:45Yes
39:47To day
39:48Toolar
39:49What
39:50Can
39:51You
39:52Can
39:53Me fight
39:54Keep your chin up high, and don't be afraid from the dark.
40:09And the end of the storm is the golden sky, and the sweet silver song of the dark.
40:31Fall on through the wind, fall on through the rain, and the sweet sweet trust and love.
40:51Fall on through the wind.
41:21Love
41:38We're in the homestretch here, you can tell, sort of, on the show, stopping after another.
41:43We'll bring a little bit of laughter into it at the moment,
41:47because did you all notice the first song that I was saying?
41:51The hills are alive!
41:53The hills are alive!
41:55For those of you who are familiar with my brother Stephen, and we're four years here,
41:59you know that he hates the sound of music.
42:03So, the fact that we have two sound of music songs in our concert today
42:09is actually kind of funny for those of us who know that about him.
42:15So, even though he's not here, and you probably hate it, this next song is for Stephen.
42:39Every path you know
42:53I never intend
42:57For every stream
43:03Follow every rainbow
43:07Till you find your dream
43:13A dream that will be
43:17All of love you can give
43:22Every day of your life
43:26For this life you'll live
43:32Now I never intend
43:37For every stream
43:42Now I never know
43:47Till you find your dream
43:53For every day of your life
43:59I wasn't going to say anything, but I feel pressured to say something. So we're being kind of began with a prayer, a lovely prayer. This is sort of a, I guess, a modern day prayer that we're kind of closing on.
44:09So I think that's all that needs to be said.
44:29So I think that's all that needs to be said.
44:35So I think that's all that needs to be said.
44:39So I think that's all that needs to be said.
44:44So I think that's all that needs to be said.
44:48So I think that's all that needs to be said.
44:54So I think that's all that needs to be said.
45:05So I think that's all that needs to be said.
45:14Let him rest, heaven and earth, bring him home, bring him home, bring him home.
45:38He's like a son I might have known, if God hadn't known to be a son.
45:48The summer's dying, I know how soon they fly, my dog, and I am known and will be gone.
46:08Bring him peace, bring him joy, he is young, he is only a boy.
46:30You can take, you can leave, let him be, let him live.
46:50If I die, let him die, let him live.
47:05Bring him home, bring him home.
47:17Bring him home.
47:29I don't think I need this.
47:36I am not going to sing, I don't want me to sing.
47:41So many people have asked me to sing, I promise I will not.
47:56I cannot be more proud of our music ministry.
48:01Every song was like, how can they do better than that song?
48:05And they did.
48:06It was just constant, just incredible.
48:09You see another side to the people you see almost every Sunday.
48:25You see 11, you see Megan, you see Tim, you see Patrizio and our choir.
48:30And you see another side of the talent that is here and how blessed we are.
48:37We're here to offer whatever we can to help the people of St. Ignatius of Loyola and Spring,
48:43Texas.
48:44They lost everything.
48:45And as we heard at the beginning of our celebration, our concert today, you know,
48:50it shows us how quick that the things we have, the things we value, the things that we are proud of when we take it away.
48:59We saw that with Hurricane Harvey.
49:01We saw that Hurricane Irma, Maria, the earthquakes, earthquakes, because there was another one yesterday in Mexico.
49:07How quick life takes a turn.
49:09And the things that we take for granted are not there.
49:13You know, we take for granted our beautiful church.
49:15We take for granted at times.
49:17Even the music that we have each and every Sunday.
49:20Let us, these events, this event, really makes us proud of everything we have.
49:27And to thank God for everything we have.
49:29Because we are so blessed.
49:31And I'm getting a little emotional because I look like a little father right now.
49:36My kids.
49:38I want to thank Patrizio.
49:39Patrizio put this world together as your murder.
49:52He's here.
49:53This is his favorite for the weekend.
49:55And I said the 8 o'clock mass this morning.
49:57It feels like he's here longer.
49:59And we need that in a good way.
50:01Because he has been such a part of our parish family.
50:03And as soon as we heard about Hurricane Harvey and the effects.
50:08And the people so devastated by Harvey and how quick that all happened.
50:13He emailed me and said I will have to do a concert.
50:16I said take it and run with it.
50:18And do it.
50:19And look what has happened.
50:21They have put this together.
50:23And I think we're only seeing a tip of a talent that Patrizio has.
50:28So I want to thank you for being here.
50:30I want to thank you for putting this together.
50:32And I want to thank you for everything that you do for our parish.
50:35And everything you will continue to do for our parish.
50:36Thank you so much.
50:37When I heard that song, the first one comes to the Opposal Worldwide.
50:49I was like I wish Stephen was here.
50:51He was going to be here originally and realizing a conflict.
50:56He was going to be part of this as well.
50:58And he realized that he could not.
51:01But I will make sure that he gets a copy of it.
51:04Because it's being taped on our website.
51:07And there's a video upstairs that's being taped on.
51:10We make sure he sees that.
51:11And every time you see or hear anything from the sound of music, think of Stephen.
51:16Because we've had a lot of laughs with that.
51:20Especially this one came out.
51:22And that's just, that's really his fear.
51:25So I do want to thank all of you.
51:28I want to thank all of you for taking time out.
51:30Today, this is not the finals.
51:32There's no more song.
51:33But I want to thank you for taking time out.
51:36We never know what's going to come.
51:38You know, we planned something.
51:39We hope that people show up that you did.
51:41I want to thank you for your generosity.
51:43I'm going to call the pastor tomorrow.
51:45And just let him know how well we did.
51:47Instead of a copy of this video as well.
51:51So you can share it with the people of this parish.
51:54To let him know that 2,000 miles away, people, us, are praying for them.
51:59That they're not alone in this.
52:01They're all just together.
52:02It's one parish family helping another parish family.
52:05As Mother Teresa said, and I know I can't sing, but I think of her words every time.
52:11What you can do, I cannot.
52:13What I can do, you cannot.
52:15But together, we can do something beautiful for God.
52:18We did that this afternoon by her voices, your voices, your voices.
52:23And I want to thank all of you again.
52:25Thank you so much.
52:58When I am down and all my soul so weary, when troubles come and lies are burdened me,
53:16when I am still, I'll wait you in the silence until you come and sit a while with me.
53:34You raise me up, so I will stand on mountains. You raise me up to those who I see.
53:51You raise me up, so I will stand on mountains. You raise me up, so I will stand on mountains.
54:21You raise me up, so I will stand on mountains. You raise me up, so I will stand on mountains.
54:51You raise me up, so I will stand on mountains. You raise me up, so I will stand on mountains.
