00:00But I do see some similarities of my husband in J.D. and Vice President J.D. Vance. I do. No.
00:09But I do see some similarities of my husband in J.D. and Vice President J.D. Vance. I do.
00:18And that's why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight. He's an amazing man.
00:24I am tremendously blessed and honored tonight to be able to introduce to you a very, very dear friend and his wife.
00:44They are incredible.
00:50And I see no one will ever replace my husband.
00:55No.
00:56But I do see some similarities of my husband in J.D. and Vice President J.D. Vance. I do.
01:05And that's why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight.
01:11He's an amazing man.
01:12So please help me welcome to the stage Vice President J.D. Vance.
01:24Love you guys too.
01:27Oh, it's hard not to cry after watching that.
01:31I haven't seen that portion of him saying that video since that day happened.
01:38But Charlie, when he came onto campus, he loved to immerse himself in the culture of the campus that he was in.
01:50And so, from word on the street, you guys have a chant out there.
01:58I hear it's a good one.
02:01It's hotty toddy.
02:02I love it.
02:20I love it.
02:22But it's a tremendous honor and blessing to be on stage today.
02:27And this is what Turning Point USA is all about.
02:32This is what the future of our country is all about.
02:36And I want to thank you all also on a personal level for all of your prayers and all of your support,
02:43not only for our family, but for the Turning Point USA family, which includes all of you,
02:47especially those that are students, a part of the Turning Point USA chapter at Ole Miss.
02:51So, I love you guys.
02:53Truly, this whole, you guys have no idea how helpful it is to have all of you in my life
03:07because you helped me feel even more deeply connected to my husband.
03:12And I thank you for that.
03:14I thank all of you for that.
03:21And I say that also because you guys are the heartbeat of Turning Point USA.
03:29You're the heartbeat of this organization.
03:31And every time we were at an event, especially one that Charlie was speaking at,
03:38he would always ask beforehand, he would always ask Mikey or the team.
03:42He'd say, who in the audience is a Turning Point USA chapter leader or a chapter member?
03:50And whenever there was a student there, he would stop everything before the event and he would sit down with them.
03:57He would ask you what your name is, what you're studying, what is the issues that are going on on campus.
04:06He would take the time to make sure that you guys knew he was investing into you, into your chapter, into your school,
04:14because that was a pulse point for him.
04:19And being on campus right now for me is a spiritual reclaiming of territory.
04:31And let me explain that because there is a lot of symbolism in today.
04:36Today, it's Wednesday, seven weeks, and the more that I am coming to grips with the permanency of this nightmare,
04:49the more that I'm starting to realize and witness that the enemy, he doesn't want you.
04:56He wants your territory.
04:57He wants your influence.
04:59And when our team asked my dear friend, Vice President J.D. Vance, to speak today,
05:09I really prayed on it because obviously it's a very emotional, emotional day.
05:15But I could just hear Charlie in my heart.
05:21I could just hear him say, go reclaim that territory, babe.
05:27Go.
05:29The battle's already won.
05:31God's love conquers.
05:34And that's why I'm here today.
05:36I'm here because this moment, it can either be your breaking point or your wake-up call.
05:41Essentially, essentially your turning point, if you will.
05:45And at this moment, every single one of us has a choice to make whether we stand for freedom
05:54or we're just going to fall for everything else.
05:59But I want to encourage you, especially the students here, find your voice.
06:05You are the courageous generation.
06:08That's what you are.
06:09All of you, Gen Z, you are the courageous generation.
06:16Hear me when I say that.
06:17My husband believed that to his core.
06:20That's why he went on campuses.
06:22That's why he was trying to reach you.
06:26You are the courageous generation.
06:28Own it.
06:30Make him proud.
06:32And students beyond Ole Miss, if you are pursuing a chapter on your campus, harness this amazing
06:43opportunity to advocate for something that you truly believe in and express it in the most
06:51articulate way of what exactly you're advocating for.
06:54You're advocating for America.
06:56You're advocating for freedom of speech.
07:00Because our chapters on high school campuses, I love it.
07:03Charlie was so excited when he named the programs for high schools.
07:08He said, we're going to name it Club America.
07:11Because he goes, who could hate that name?
07:13It's the perfect name, Club America.
07:16And he loved it.
07:17Who could be against it?
07:20And I want you to know that if you are trying to start a chapter, I'm with you.
07:24We're with you.
07:25Charlie's with you.
07:26You have an arsenal of Turning Point USA staff members that are with you.
07:32But I also, what I've been able to sit back and witness is the leaders that have stepped
07:41up to ensure that chapters can happen.
07:48For example, I don't know if you guys saw what happened earlier this week with Governor
07:52Ron DeSantis, which is amazing.
07:55I want to give him a massive shout out because he said, we're announcing a partnership with
08:01Turning Point USA.
08:01We want to say, we want to make sure that all high schools in Florida, anybody in a high
08:06school that wants to start a Club America chapter, will be able to do that.
08:11There will be no impediments to that and certainly no discrimination.
08:18That's amazing.
08:28And then also, Governor Youngkin.
08:31I want to thank him as well.
08:33He donated generously to Turning Point USA to support new Turning Point USA chapters all
08:39over the Commonwealth of Virginia.
08:42How powerful is that?
08:43So when I heard that, I just looked up, I was like, all right, Charlie, two down, 48 to go.
08:59I see you.
09:00But Club America and Turning Point USA chapters.
09:06If you're wondering what those values are, it's life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
09:10And that's what our country was founded on.
09:12And when you succeed in establishing that chapter, I want to commend you because that experience will leave a mark on you that will influence every choice that you make for the rest of your life and generations to come.
09:26Earn your voice.
09:29Earn your voice.
09:30Charlie loved the word earn.
09:32Earn your voice.
09:34This is about your legacy.
09:36Each one of you in this room, everyone watching, when you earn your voice and you stand up for what is right, that is a part of your legacy, your family's legacy, just as much as it is part of Charlie's legacy.
09:51Don't forget that.
09:53Don't ever forget that.
09:54Because if there's one thing I've learned, especially being with Charlie for the past seven years, it's that the hope we're looking for is not found in Washington.
10:07It's not found in media.
10:11It's right here.
10:13All of you.
10:14This is the hope.
10:17And he saw that.
10:20It's in stadiums like this.
10:25Charlie had a visual in his head.
10:27He loved the on-campus events.
10:30But for the night events, he had, he would send Tyler pictures and the team pictures of, I want our chapter events to look like this.
10:40And he sent a picture of one of the largest football, college football stadiums in the country, packed.
10:48That was his vision.
10:50And that's what makes all of this so powerful because your generation is living at a crossroads.
11:02And you are living in one of the most defining moments in American history.
11:07And we are all witnessing, in real time, the battle that is raging for the soul of your generation.
11:18Again, your generation.
11:19This is far more than political, and you will hear the world and the culture, for that matter, pressure you and say, go with the flow.
11:31Don't ruffle feathers.
11:32Don't say that.
11:33Don't say that.
11:34Don't say that.
11:35Don't say that.
11:36Don't say that.
11:37Don't say that.
11:38Don't say that.
11:39Don't say that.
11:40You might offend someone.
11:41You might lose some friends if you wear a red hat, if you go to a Turning Point USA chapter event.
11:44Don't say that.
11:45Don't say that.
11:46Don't say that.
11:47Don't say that.
11:48Don't say that.
11:49Don't say that.
11:50Don't say that.
11:51Don't say that.
11:52Don't say that.
11:53Don't say that.
11:54Don't say that.
11:55Don't say that.
11:56Don't say that.
11:57Don't say that.
11:58Now when I hear that, if you're worried about losing a friend, you might.
12:10I lost my friend.
12:12I lost my best friend.
12:16And if you're nervous about standing up for the truth, the assassination of my husband
12:23puts into perspective all those fears.
12:30It really does.
12:32Because my husband never went with the flow.
12:35He swam in the streams of significance.
12:40And Charlie knew so deeply to his core that comfort doesn't change the world.
12:49And you cannot influence the world when you look like it.
12:56The enemy of truth doesn't need to destroy a nation overnight.
13:01He just needs to convince people that truth no longer matters.
13:07And the enemy thrives when Christians don't speak up.
13:11When citizens don't vote.
13:13When students don't think for themselves.
13:18But in Ephesians chapter 5 verse 11 it says, have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds
13:23of darkness but rather expose them.
13:28That's what it means to live as salt and light.
13:31To bring flavor to a world gone bland and clarity to a world that lost its way and it's lost
13:37in confusion because Christians are called to go into the public space to correct error with
13:44truth and that's what my husband did.
13:48When he would sit there with his microphone.
13:51I got to watch this evolve over the years.
13:56At first he would hold the microphone the whole time.
14:00He would listen.
14:03When his ears went on he would put the microphone down and he wasn't listening he was hearing.
14:11He was absorbing what the students were saying and what they were asking.
14:16He was engaging.
14:19He was calm.
14:21He wasn't combative.
14:22He never insulted.
14:25He just wanted you to think.
14:26Again, like I said, he never told you what to say.
14:29He just wanted to challenge you so that what your convictions were you actually understood
14:35why you had them rather than they being talking points because your professor told you so or
14:39your friend told you so.
14:42He wanted the best of you because he demanded the best of himself.
14:50And Charlie would say this all the time.
14:54The rights don't come from the government they come from God.
14:59And he knew what every founding father knew and almost nearly almost every university has
15:07forgotten that you cannot have freedom without virtue and you cannot have virtue without God.
15:14And that's what makes this nation so different.
15:16That's what makes it worth defending as a courageous generation.
15:22And another thing that Charlie used to say all the time is that it does not take skill
15:26to be courageous.
15:28It takes a choice to be courageous.
15:31And now is the time to make that choice.
15:37Either you sit on the sidelines.
15:38I mean, I don't know what else can wake you up.
15:41I really don't know what else could stir that fire within you to get involved or to use your
15:48voice or to make a difference.
15:50If you're looking for another sign, I have no idea what to tell you.
15:58I just want to encourage you, though, that, yes, this is about America.
16:09And, yes, my husband would say saving Western civilization, that's true on both fronts.
16:18But deeper than that, this is about your soul.
16:21Because the fight for freedom starts within, inside of each and every one of you.
16:28So, again, please, stand firm against the wickedness of the devil and the schemes of man.
16:41Be alert because his tactics are so clever.
16:45What he'll do is he will find one thing.
16:48He will find fear.
16:49He'll find disappointment.
16:50He will find one thing, and he will wedge it in between you and the Lord, and he will make it grow.
16:56He will make it grow so much that you lose sight.
17:01It becomes this, almost like an eclipse, where the truth is hidden behind it.
17:09And, yes, the light's still there, but you can't see it anymore.
17:14That's the enemy's tactic.
17:16And the bottom line is that the enemy doesn't need to change your theology.
17:20He just needs to change your vision.
17:23And if he can get in your head and blur your vision and distort your vision, he'll do whatever he can.
17:34But what the enemy forgets, though, is that the presence of a shadow is proof that there is light.
17:43He forgets that.
17:46And Charlie's murder might seem like we're standing in a shadow, as if death was the victory meant for the enemy.
17:52But looking around in this arena, you are proof that this light of truth burns so brightly.
18:02So brightly.
18:03The Lord is calling you to rise.
18:17Please hear me when I say that courageously.
18:19He is.
18:22Do not be afraid.
18:23It is so easy to be afraid.
18:25But we are commanded to not be afraid.
18:27And when you take that stand, it will encourage and inspire someone else to do the same.
18:40Whether that is someone in your circle, whether that's a family member, whether that's someone you never even met before because they saw you posting something on social media.
18:51You can't change a nation if you're enslaved to fear.
18:58And you can't call out corruption if you're still chained to comfort.
19:06And you can't stand for truth if you first do not kneel before the Lord.
19:10And I know I keep saying it, but I'm trying to drive home a point with you all being labeled as the courageous generation.
19:35Because this generation will decide if America remembers who she is or if she'll forget.
19:47And I believe with all my heart that God placed you here now at Ole Miss.
19:54Not by accident, but by assignment.
19:57There is no mistake that you are here in this stadium and arena today.
20:02No mistake.
20:03God doesn't make mistakes.
20:06It doesn't make mistakes.
20:09And when being on this campus, I think of 18-year-old Charlie, who would always say,
20:18you know, when I started this, I had no money, no connections, and I had no idea what I was doing.
20:27But what he did know what he was doing was that he was obeying the Lord.
20:32He was obeying what the Lord had placed inside of his heart.
20:35To fight for.
20:38He did.
20:39And he persevered.
20:40And he persevered.
20:51He persevered.
20:52And look what he left us.
20:55Look what he left us with.
20:58He didn't leave us empty-handed.
21:00He built a machine.
21:02And all of you are a part of that.
21:05Again, the heartbeat of Turning Point USA.
21:10That's what happens when you obey the Lord.
21:12A movement like this, it becomes unstoppable.
21:18It becomes the revival that it is.
21:20And I just want this to be the generation that says, we will not apologize for loving our country first.
21:34We will not be silent about our faith.
21:37We will not back down when the world tells us to kneel.
21:41We will not be silent about our faith.
21:42Because we bow only to the King of Kings.
21:45and it's from him that we rise
22:01I personally still believe in America
22:06I still believe in her founding
22:11I still believe in her future
22:13I don't care if people think it sounds crazy
22:16but I still believe that our nation can heal
22:18but we can't save a country
22:22that we're too afraid to defend
22:23we can't
22:26on a more personal note
22:37when we first moved into our home
22:40inside of our bedroom
22:43I had on the side wall
22:46when you walk in
22:47it was above the bookshelves
22:49it says
22:49on two framed pieces of paper
22:54it says
22:55they will be known
22:56by the boldness of their faith
22:58and when I hung that
23:02as many women can attest to this
23:04when you hang things
23:05you see them all the time
23:06you just kind of go about your life
23:07and so
23:09being in the position that I am now
23:13it took me a while
23:15to even just make it back into our bedroom
23:17I used to
23:18sprint from the opening door
23:22into the bathroom
23:22and sprint out
23:23I was not ready to walk into our bedroom yet
23:24and
23:26when I was finally able to sleep in our bed
23:29for the first time
23:30I slept on his side of the bed
23:33and I noticed
23:35because he had to sleep a certain way
23:37on his side
23:38facing
23:39the outside of the bed
23:42because he
23:42he had a bad back
23:43I'm sure most of you
23:44didn't know that
23:45but he had a really bad back
23:46anyways so
23:47it's also why he wore compression socks
23:50socks too
23:51I know a lot of people are like
23:52why did he wear compression socks
23:54circulation
23:55anyways so
23:57he
23:58he would sleep that direction
24:00and so
24:01I found myself sleeping that direction as well
24:04and when I
24:04woke up
24:06for the past
24:08several nights
24:09that I've
24:09been able to be in there
24:10I saw that the first thing I'd see
24:14is that
24:15on the wall
24:18they will be known by the boldness of their faith
24:20and I thought to myself
24:22he saw that every single morning he woke up
24:24I didn't
24:25because I'm on the other side of the bed
24:26so I'm facing the window
24:27but he saw that every single morning
24:30and then I
24:31I thought to myself
24:32because when I go to the office
24:35I
24:36I
24:36I will never sit in his office chair
24:39so I sit
24:39there's like a couch on the side
24:41when you walk in
24:41and I sit on the couch
24:42and on
24:44his desk
24:46flanked between
24:49the Bible verse of
24:52Micah
24:52chapter 6 verse 3
24:54it all kind of
24:57came together for me
24:59so he sees us on the wall
25:01and then he sees on his desk
25:03these three questions
25:05that he would ask himself
25:06every single day
25:08and it would be
25:12what is something I can do
25:14for someone today
25:15the second one was
25:18what is something I can do
25:19to add value
25:20to the world today
25:21and the third was
25:24how can I honor God today
25:26those were the three questions
25:28combined with the words he saw
25:30every single morning
25:31so to me
25:33seeing that
25:37seeing on his desk
25:38that was him suited up
25:40with the armor of the Lord
25:43every day
25:44that was his combination
25:46and what I'm realizing
25:50with that is
25:51those were the action points
25:54of how to have courage
25:57because you can ask me
26:00well how do I get
26:00how do I become courageous
26:02ask yourself those three questions
26:06every single day
26:07and I promise you
26:09you will get courage
26:13you will
26:15because
26:17what death
26:20amplifies even more
26:22is that
26:23you only get one life
26:25just one
26:27that's it
26:28it's an eternal life
26:30so that's why you have to live
26:34like it matters
26:34but
26:35I want to remind you
26:37that God has created you
26:38for greatness
26:39not for
26:42something that's lifeless
26:45just greatness
26:46and the question
26:48isn't how long
26:50you're going to live
26:51it's what are you going to do
26:54with your life
26:54in the time that the Lord
26:55has blessed you with
26:56what are you going to do
26:58with that
26:59that's the question
27:01and when you get
27:10to the end of your life
27:11will the Lord be proud
27:17of what you stood for
27:18will you be able to say
27:23that you
27:24ran the race
27:25that you fought
27:26the good fight
27:27or will you realize
27:31that you wasted
27:31your time
27:32that the Lord
27:32has blessed you with
27:33chasing after things
27:34that didn't even matter
27:35hold that into perspective
27:38and remember
27:42being the courageous
27:44generation that you are
27:46stand up for the truth
27:49defend life
27:51love your family
27:54fearlessly
27:55love your spouse
27:58fearlessly
27:59love this country
28:03defend her
28:04defend her
28:07and serve our God
28:09and don't think that
28:11it's someone else's role
28:13to do it
28:14you do it
28:15you do it
28:19do it for Charlie
28:22do it for Charlie
28:25and I am tremendously
28:43blessed and honored
28:45tonight to be able
