00:00Stranger Things season five is coming!
00:03You're a fan.
00:04Oh, I love it.
00:05I mean, am I?
00:06I haven't seen it in three years.
00:07I know, I know.
00:08Stranger Things, I hardly knew her.
00:10Where has she been?
00:11Literally, where has she been?
00:12I mean, this was Netflix's most recent big hit,
00:15except they were on hiatus for so long that now Netflix,
00:19it's not the Stranger Things channel or streamer,
00:22it's like True Crime and Ryan Murphy Monster
00:25and all this other stuff.
00:26I forgot Stranger Things hadn't finished.
00:28I was just going to say, I feel like everybody
00:30almost forgot about Stranger Things.
00:32It was the moment.
00:33Like, she was the girl when it came out originally.
00:35She was our girl.
00:36And then the next season came out,
00:38then we had the pandemic and they had to wait,
00:40so then that kind of threw things off.
00:42The kids aren't kids anymore!
00:44They're not!
00:45No, they're grown, they have 401Ks, they're adults.
00:47No, literally!
00:48Billie Bobby Brown is married and has a child.
00:50Yes!
00:51She's Jon Bon Jovi's daughter-in-law.
00:53Like, the world has moved on.
00:55The world has moved on.
00:56Things have changed.
00:57Things have changed.
00:58I know, it's going to be really interesting
00:59to see how they incorporate that because,
01:01so we didn't see season four until 2022
01:05and they split that up into two parts.
01:07So we haven't had any new episodes from Stranger Things
01:10since July of 2022.
01:12Over three years.
01:13Over three years!
01:14And I know they filmed this a while ago,
01:16like they had to do all the editing and all that jazz,
01:19but what?
01:20Like, how are they going to springboard
01:22to where the kids are now?
01:23Because we left off at a very crucial point in the series
01:26and all of a sudden they're just going to be, like,
01:29tying up those loose ends and making them older?
01:31Or are they supposed to act the age that they were?
01:33Yeah.
01:34Look, I'm not a proponent of AI,
01:35but if that'll speed this whole process up, like,
01:37they're spending too much time on these edits.
01:39They're doing rewrites after rewrites after rewrites.
01:41The CGI alone, I mean, are they doing it themselves?
01:44Is this, like, everything everywhere at once?
01:46They're trying to figure out how to work pro-tool.
01:48Right?
01:49No, seriously.
01:50But the thing that I do love about this show
01:52is that the original cast keeps coming back.
01:54Yeah.
01:55So we still have Millie, we've got all the boys,
01:57Winona Ryder is in it, and David Harbour,
02:00who also has had a lot of life happen in the last few years.
02:04Yeah, he divorced Lily Allen.
02:05When the show started.
02:06And then her album just came out this week,
02:08and it's dropping all the dirt about their open marriage.
02:11Right.
02:12And, you know, he's trying to spin it,
02:14you know, play dad of the year.
02:16He's, like, going to the theme park with his kids,
02:18and everything's fine, nothing to see here.
02:19Nothing to see here.
02:20So, yeah, life has happened while Stranger Things was on hiatus.
02:23I know.
02:24This is not the first time this has happened, though.
02:25Euphoria used to play with us all the time.
02:26How many years in between seasons?
02:28It's like, we get it.
02:29So true.
02:30I mean, Atlanta, there's so many shows that it's like,
02:32they just like to take their time.
02:33They're like, you'll get it when you get it.
02:34You're gonna get it when you get it.
02:35Yeah, well, so, we'll have to take it.
02:37My favorite Stranger Things scandal
02:39that happened during the past couple years
02:42was the whole Doja Cat-Joseph Quinn romance.
02:47Yes.
02:48So, if you guys remember, this is very Page Six-y,
02:50but supposedly Doja Cat slid into Noah Schaap's DMs,
02:56who may have been 17 at the time, and she was like,
02:59hey, can you hook me up with your co-star, Joseph?
03:02He's really cute.
03:03Oh, my God.
03:04It's a real story, again.
03:05And he then, in a very teenage moment, like, put her on blast
03:10and was like, can you believe she's reaching out to a minor,
03:12to blah, blah, blah?
03:13And it's like, not a good wingman.
03:15No.
03:16Yeah.
03:17It worked.
03:18Doja and Joseph are together.
03:20His character, spoiler alert, is dead.
03:22He's not coming back for season five.
03:24But their romance is blooming.
03:27All's well that ends well.
03:28That's what I say.
03:29Yeah.
03:30You know what?
03:31His character was so good in the show.
03:32He had such an amazing character arc,
03:35because he kind of started as this really rough and tough rocker guy.
03:39Yeah, bad boy.
03:40Didn't want to be bad boy.
03:41Didn't want to be messed with anybody.
03:42He couldn't be bothered.
03:44And then the end, he literally sacrifices himself.
03:46Well, the end of his story.
03:47Yeah.
03:48He sacrifices himself.
03:49Ugh.
03:50We are going to miss him.
03:51It's really sad that he won't have any kind of camp.
03:53You never know with these shows that are sci-fi,
03:55because it's like they could tie back some way to him if they're going to.
03:59Are you kidding?
04:00He's the Human Torch.
04:01He's Johnny Storm.
04:02He's on Fantastic Four.
04:04And he's going to be in the Avengers movies.
04:05He's going to be in the Beatles.
04:06Yeah.
04:07Yeah.
04:08He's got a lot going on.
04:09This show has launched some big careers.
04:11And it's tricky because when you have child stars growing up on screen,
04:16it doesn't always work out.
04:18Sometimes the cute little kid becomes kind of a weird looking adult,
04:21you know, as we've seen so many times.
04:23But so far, I think all of the cast has a good future ahead of them.
04:27They just have to get the show going.
04:29They've got to get it on the road, right?
04:31That's their point.
04:32They're probably also like, can we move on?
04:33But at least we get a few new episodes,
04:36so they're splitting up this season again.
04:38Which I kind of like.
04:39Oh, you do?
04:40I do enjoy this.
04:41I know maybe it's a hot take, but I enjoy it,
04:43because we're kind of giving me a little bit more bang for my buck, right?
04:46Like, let the season kind of play out,
04:48and then I kind of really savor it, you know, if it's the last one.
04:51That's fair.
04:52I feel like I want it all immediately.
04:54Yeah.
04:55But what I do like about it, to your point,
04:58is that they're not making us wait that long.
05:01So a few episodes in November, then we'll get, I think,
05:04two on Christmas Day, the finale on New Year's Eve.
05:07So it's spread out, but they're not making us wait that long.
05:10Right.
05:11It's very English, too, to like, put out an episode of television on Christmas.
05:15You know, the English tradition is, you know,
05:17to have your favorite TV show has a Christmas special.
05:20Oh.
05:21You know, so everyone sits around after opening their presents
05:23and watches a family-friendly show.
05:25And Stranger Things, while I find it a little too scary for me,
05:28like, you know, the monsters are like,
05:31okay, I'm like, all right, I can't sleep now.
05:33But, like, it is very, like, family-friendly.
05:35All ages can enjoy it.
05:36And we haven't really had, like, a show like that, a monoculture show,
05:40where the entire family can sit around the fire and watch Stranger Things.
05:44Oh.
05:45Like, Game of Thrones is like...
05:46Sit around the Christmas tree and watch the de-
05:48Yeah, Demorgia.
05:49Demorgia.
05:50Demorgon.
05:51Demorgon.
05:52Demorgon, thank you.
05:53Watch that attack.
05:54That should be the word of the year, Demorgon.
05:55Demorgon.
05:56You know, it will be a thing.
05:57It's true, but, like, Game of Thrones, everyone was watching.
05:59Succession, everyone was watching.
06:00But those shows were rated R.
06:02Not family-friendly.
06:03Hard R.
06:04We've got Incest, we've got F-bombs.
06:05Like, Stranger Things, it's cute.
06:07And it's also, I think, spawned a bunch of, you know, other shows.
06:14Like, you know, It, Welcome to Derry is coming out.
06:16Yes.
06:17And that show is, like, from the Stephen King universe.
06:20And Stranger Things is definitely pulling heavily from Stephen King and from It.
06:24And so, I think this is opening up a whole world of this small town, horror, supernatural world that, like, people love.
06:31Isn't there something so cozy about it?
06:33Something so fall, something so holiday, something so sweater, something so hot chocolate in your hand.
06:37You know what I mean?
06:38With the fire.
06:39You know that?
06:40I'm in your family, too.
06:41You might get scared.
06:42You might be stuck in a haunted house.
06:43It's terrifying.
06:44But at the end of the day, I've got my hot cocoa.
06:46Yeah.
06:47Now I'm picturing driving, you know, like, driving down a street on Christmas week.
06:51The families are all home.
06:52You can see in the windows the TV.
06:54The lights are on.
06:55The TV is blaring Stranger Things.
06:57And you're like, oh, what are they watching?
06:59Yeah.
07:00Just some terrifying television.
07:02Casually.
07:03There's some kids being attacked in that.
07:04I don't know.
07:05But I'm excited for it.
07:06We're definitely going to have to watch that season.
07:08Ugh, it's going to be so good.
07:09It's sad it's the end.
07:10But all good things must come to an end.
07:12But the show is always rooted in nostalgia.
07:14I mean, having, like, Winona Ryder on the show.
07:16I mean, she was my girl from the 80s and the 90s.
07:19Heather's is one of my favorite movies of all time.
07:21So having, like, Winona Ryder have a career comeback because of Stranger Things.
07:25You know, the creators of the show knew what they were doing.
07:27It's sort of instant nostalgia.
07:29Totally.
07:30And because it's set in that time period, too.
07:32It's like it takes us back and it takes us through all the emotions.
07:35And, oh, I just love them.
07:36I can't wait for it.
07:37One of the kids has that jacket that I had when I was a kid.
07:40That, like, puffer jacket that was, like, the bright orange and navy blue.
07:44You still have that bride?
07:45I wish.
07:46I wish I could still fit into it.
07:47It'll be sold in Urban Outfitters in five minutes.
07:48Right.
07:49It'll be part of a Stranger Things line come the end of November when the show comes out.
07:53Absolutely.
07:54And I still saw, I'm sorry, when I opened up Instagram last week, I saw an Eleven and Winona Ryder couples costume.
08:01So, it's still happening.
08:02People are still doing it.
08:03Like, my friend didn't have the Eggo waffles, you know?
08:06Oh, yes.
08:07That reference is maybe a little too old.
08:08But, you know, if you've got a buzz cut and you found a hospital gown and you do a little blood down the nose, you're Eleven.
08:14One, two.
08:15I'm not mistaken.
08:16I'm just mad at that.
08:17I have an old foe.
08:18Oh, my friend.
08:19I'm just mad at that.
08:20I'm not mistaken.
08:21My friend, I'm not mistaken.
08:22There's a lot of stuff in the house.
08:23I'm waiting for you.
08:24I'm going to work with my friends.
08:25My boss, my friend, family, and my friend, and my friend, and my friend.
08:26Joseph, I'm glad I'm not mistaken.
08:27And that's my friend's mom.
08:28My friend, my friend, and that's my friend, and I'm working with my friend.
08:29I can't do it.
08:30I can't do it.
08:31I'm just kidding, just STOP!
08:32There's no more fun.
08:33I know right.
08:34I can't do it.
08:35I could do it.
