00:00I talked to Andy and Barbara about the way Dick Halloran is depicted in the show.

00:05Are we getting any kind of crossover Stephen King stuff in the future?

00:09Well, you can see the ways that we were very influenced, not just by Dick in The Shining,

00:13but Dr. Sleep in particular, which delves into a lot of the backstory.

00:17And so we look at this show as so many things, but one of them certainly is a Dick Halloran origin story.

00:23You're seeing him in an earlier moment in his life and in his journey.

00:26Don't move, any of you. Let the OD sort this out.

00:30Okay, would you be sure to let him know Dick Halloran's out here?

00:34He's not the man you meet in The Shining.

00:36He doesn't have control over his abilities yet in the way that he one day will.

00:40And so understanding how the Dick Halloran we meet in episode one

00:43becomes the Dick Halloran that we meet in The Shining eventually felt like a really interesting story to tell.

00:48And the Dick Halloran that we meet in The Shining, the one we all know and love, is a mentor.

00:52You know, his story exists to guide Danny Torrance, essentially.

00:57But the Dick Halloran that we meet in Welcome to Derry, he exists for Dick alone.

01:01You know, we get to see him as a fully-rounded character with, you know,

01:04with a backstory and, you know, his troubles, his difficulties,

01:07and we see him grow into the character we love in The Shining.

01:10And here you go.

01:11We have to see him, and we meet with his friends.

01:12He drinks with his buddies.

01:13He drinks with his buddies.

01:14And he's like, I'm okay.

01:15And you can never buy him.

01:16He drinks like that, whenever you eat.

01:17And you just want to love him.

01:18And you know what I think about him.

01:19You can never buy him.

01:20He drinks like that.

01:21He says, I know.

01:22He's not going to buy him.

01:23He like, he's buying him.

01:25He's not going to buy him.

01:26I'm going to buy hisдеся.

01:27I'll buy him.

01:28And I'll buy him.

01:29I think I'll buy him.

01:30And I'll buy him.
