00:06So a little bit of backstory. My paper came back 23% AI, according to the professor.
00:11And I write all of my papers in Microsoft Word because I've never had an AI issue.
00:17So I've never had to actually track my writing.
00:19Because the system picked up her writing as AI, she has received a zero for her grade.
00:24I don't save anything to OneDrive.
00:26OneDrive helps teachers keep track of students' projects.
00:30So when I sent it to my teacher through OneDrive, it showed no version history for him because it wasn't ever saved into OneDrive.
00:37The moment she found out she had a zero on her paper, completely broke her.
00:42And the teacher's trying to say that it's AI.
00:47Like, I'm sorry that I talk normal. Like, what do you want from me?
00:53And for some reason, my Microsoft Word also did not track the time that I was writing.
00:59It said that I had literally created the document in less than one second.
01:03Like, I don't know what to do.
01:08So now I have a zero.
01:12And the teacher thinks I'm using AI for everything.
01:14Students should not have to worry about sounding like AI.
01:17This is so unfair to someone who has worked so hard.
01:20What?
01:24Like, you're telling me I wrote it in less than a second.
01:30Even if I copy and paste, it takes more than one second.
01:35She had to fight extremely hard just to have a chance for her paper to be graded.
01:39So after emailing back with my professor and advocating for myself,
01:43he ended up saying that he re-read my paper and that it doesn't sound anything like AI
01:49and that he's going to accept it and grade it.
01:52So he graded it and I got 100.
01:54She was so relieved to hear this.
01:57It brought her to tears.
01:58But I have truly learned so much from this experience.
02:02Now I'm going to be writing all of my documents in Google Docs and also recording myself.
02:06She now doesn't want anyone else to go through the same experience she went through.
02:10So she's spreading her message to the whole internet.
02:13And I really hope my video helps other students and it helps to prevent this from happening to somebody else
02:18because it's truly heartbreaking and discouraging.
02:22And it has made me second guess everything.
02:25But I'm leaving my faith in God.
02:28No one deserves to be prosecuted like she was.
02:30What happened to her was unfair.
02:32And a hardworking student like her does not deserve this.
02:38And I also want to say thank you so much for all of the support.
02:41I truly needed support so bad at that point.
02:44I was breaking down because it's discouraging when you didn't do anything wrong
02:49and you're getting accused of something.
02:51She is now applying for a master's.
02:53If she didn't get a second look, it could have ruined her future.
02:56AI is a great tool, but we don't want it destroying people's features.
