00:00Boston Dynamics Robot Dog Spot is now faster than ever.
00:06Thanks to a new interface that provides direct access to its joints, Spot can now sprint at 19 km per hour, almost three times faster than before.
00:16Originally developed for transportation and inspection tasks, Spot previously moved at a maximum speed of 6 km per hour.
00:24Now it runs at a trot with a flight phase, with all four legs briefly in the air at the same time.
00:31This movement had to be integrated for the higher speed.
00:35The limit has not yet been reached. The speed is currently only limited by the battery voltage.
00:41With more powerful energy storage devices, Sports could become even faster.
00:47The update also brings greater efficiency and less noise, which opens up new areas of application.
00:53This technology is already being further developed for humanoid robots.
00:57In the future, autonomous vehicles or even jumping bicycles could also benefit from it.
