00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog on the topic of NGIN IPM01.
00:10As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
00:16The Chinese robotics company Songqing Robotics, also known as NGIN AI, has achieved a technical breakthrough with its humanoid robot PM01.
00:24For the first time, a humanoid robot has succeeded in performing a forward somersault.
00:32While backflips have already been mastered by several robots such as the Unitree H1 or the Atlas from Boston Dynamics,
00:39a forward somersault places significantly higher demands on agility and perception.
00:45The reason for this lies in both human and technical mechanics.
00:48During a backflip, muscle groups such as the hamstrings and the lower back work more effectively,
00:55while during a forward somersault, the abdominal muscles and hip flexors in particular have to generate more force.
01:02In addition, eye contact with the ground is lost during the rotation, which makes it difficult to calculate the landing precisely.
01:11Although robots are fearless, their joint drives must be highly flexible and powerful enough to meet this challenge.
01:18The PMN-1 has succeeded in doing so, thanks to sophisticated actuators that can generate a torque of up to 300 Nm.
01:30With a height of 1.38 meters and a weight of around 40 kilograms, the robot has more than 23 degrees of freedom,
01:37including 5 in the arms and 6 in the legs.
01:43The hands are not even included in this calculation.
01:45The combination of powerful hardware and intelligent software enables the PM-01 to coordinate its movements in such a way that it jumps off with the necessary force,
01:56precisely controls the rotation and lands safely on its feet.
02:01Another remarkable aspect of the project is the openness of the technology.
02:06The PM-1 is an open-source robot.
02:08A finished model can already be purchased and costs the equivalent of €13,700.
