00:00Welcome to the video of the CarMagazine tuning blog about the Fiat Fastback, an exciting new SUV coupé from Fiat, which was introduced in Brazil based on the well-known Pulse model.
00:17The Fiat Fastback brings a breath of fresh air to the Brazilian crossover segment and combines the sporty design of a coupé with the practicality of an SUV, a combination that is also very trendy in South America.
00:32Fiat had already presented the Fastback as a concept vehicle at the Saulo International Motor Show in 2018, arousing great interest.
00:40Now, the Fastback has seen the light of day in the automotive world and marks the new top model in the Fiat passenger car portfolio in Brazil.
00:50In terms of design, the Fiat Fastback shows parallels to the popular SUV coupés from Mercedes and BMW, but in smaller and therefore more stately dimensions.
00:59The striking rear end of the vehicle stands out in particular.
01:02It is shaped by a spoiler-like structure in the trunk lid, which is rounded, off by a hint of a roof spoiler.
01:12The LED taillights also attract attention as they extend from the side panel to the tailgate and visually connect to the bumper.
01:22These details give the Fastback a muscular and dynamic appearance.
01:26A stylized diffuser sits in the lower rear area, giving the SUV coupé a sporty touch.
01:34The trunk of the Fiat Fastback is extremely generously sized.
01:38Between 600 and 1187 liters of storage space are available.
01:44This makes the SUV coupé ideally suited for longer trips or bulk shopping trips.
01:48The model measures 4.43 meters in length, exceeding the dimensions of the Fiat poles, on whose platform it is based by almost 30 centimeters.
01:59This increase in length fits in with the aim of positioning the model higher in the Brazilian market.
02:05The sideline is emphasized by wide plastic cladding on the wheel arches, which run around the striking alloy wheels.
02:12An interesting design touch is the so-called Hoffmeister kink, which Fiat has integrated into the rear windows.
02:20A reference to classic European coupé lines.
02:24In addition, the Fastback's ground clearance is an impressive 192 millimeters, which not only looks robust, but is also advantageous on uneven terrain.
02:35The front end of the Fastback shows a clear relationship to the poles.
02:40Here, LED headlights with daytime running lights, and a hexagonal radiator grille bearing the Fiat logo, and a honeycomb grid characterize the appearance.
02:50The spoiler lip at the front has been given a more striking design by the Fiat designers.
02:54While the side air intakes are somewhat more restrained,
02:59Inside, the Fiat Fastback presents itself as modern and comfortable.
03:03Drivers have access to a digital cockpit with a multi-configurable 7-inch display and an 8.4 or 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.
03:16Here, you can integrate your smartphone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and even charge it inductively.
03:22A feature that you don't necessarily expect in vehicles in this price range.
03:27Like the Poles, the Fastback is also based on the Fiat MLA platform and relies exclusively on turbocharged petrol engines.
03:36The entry-level version comes with a three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1 liter and an output of 125 HEPRs in the petrol version.
03:44The maximum torque here is 200 Nm.
03:48Those who opt for the ethanol option in Brazil can look forward to a slight increase in power to 130 HEPRs.
03:55Alternatively, there is a more powerful version with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
04:01This produces 180 HEPRs and offers a torque of 270 Nm.
04:08Air 2, slightly more power, is released in ethanol mode, specifically 185 HEPRs.
04:14The smaller engine version is equipped with a CVT transmission that enables continuously variable gear changes
04:20while the more powerful engine is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
04:25In both cases, the vehicle can be operated using shift paddles on the steering wheel.
04:29The Fiat Fastback also offers three selectable driving modes, Normal, Manual, and Sporty.
04:37These influence, among other things, the steering, the engine's response, and the suspension,
04:41thus allowing individual adjustment to the respective driving situation.
04:47Fiat offers the Fastback in three different trim levels.
04:51The basic version is called Audazza, followed by the mid-range impetus,
04:56The top-of-the-range, limited edition, powered by Abarth,
05:00also comes with some sporty extras that further emphasize the performance and design of the Fastback.
05:07The entry-level price for the Fiat Fastback starts at the equivalent of around €24,700,
05:13making it an attractive proposition in Brazil for SUV fans who value sporty design and modern technology.
05:20With its elegant design, flexible interior layout, and powerful drive options,
05:26Fiat wants to appeal to a new target group with the Fastback.
05:31Interestingly, however, the model remains limited to the South American market.
05:37It will not be released in Europe.
05:39Fiat is already well-positioned here with a comprehensive portfolio of compact and small cars.
