00:00Muggen goes all out on aerodynamics with the Honda Civic Type R Muggen is also working
00:05on LED taillights and a new exhaust system for the sporty compact car.
00:12Muggen has announced a series of aerodynamic improvements for the Honda Civic Type R,
00:16which will soon be available across Japan.
00:22The release of these parts comes more than a year after most of them were unveiled with
00:26a special concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2023.
00:31The most noticeable change to the high-performance compact car is the installation of a redesigned
00:35rear wing.
00:40This wing, which costs ¥308,000 and will be available in late September, has carbon fiber
00:47end plates and is adjustable.
00:52Complementing this is a new front spoiler, which will set buyers back ¥110,000 in Berlin
00:58black or ¥99,000 in the unpainted version.
01:06Muggen recommends installing both the front spoiler and rear wing to optimize downforce
01:10balloons.
01:12Additionally, the Civic Type R can be ordered with new rear-side splitters to complement the
01:17standard diffuser.
01:21These splitters cost ¥99,000, $640, painted or ¥80,000, $515, unpainted.
01:32The body upgrades are completed by front bumper kits, which cost ¥77,000, $500.
01:40The aerodynamic changes reportedly increase downforce by 25%.
01:46Muggen isn't done with the aero additions, however.
01:51The car now includes 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, which are lighter than the standard
01:55wheels and can be ordered with new racing nuts and lock nuts.
02:01These wheels were developed in collaboration with BBS and cost ¥176,000 each.
02:10Honda Civic Type owners can also order some special interior parts.
02:17For example, a new carbon fiber center console is available for ¥71,500, $460, as is a new
02:24Alcantara gear knob for ¥22,000, $142.
02:32Honda already supplies its flagship compact car with some of the best seats available.
02:38Muggen also offers newer carbon fiber seats for ¥297,000, $1,900.
02:47You'll also undoubtedly notice that this Civic Type R has special LED taillights and a single
02:51exhaust pipe.
02:52However, these parts aren't ready for release yet.
02:57A new carbon fiber steering wheel is also in the works.
