00:00Quick question.
00:01Why are we so stupid?
00:04As sports fans, I don't know where we get these sort of like things
00:09that are either narratives or trends that we've decided
00:12we can sort of like plant a flag in the ground on them,
00:16and then they get disproven all of the time, but we don't learn.
00:21Stop me if I'm wrong.
00:23Okay.
00:24When you're watching that 87-inning thing that happened on Monday night,
00:30right?
00:30Was it Monday night?
00:31Or Tuesday morning.
00:32Yeah, exactly.
00:33When you're watching that game and you get to the 14th inning
00:37and the 15th inning and the 16th inning and both bullpens are just dragging
00:42and there's sweat flying off of people's faces,
00:44and you're thinking about bringing in pitchers that are starting the next game,
00:48you're thinking about pitching right fielders,
00:51you're thinking about all this stuff.
00:53Don't you have the thought go through your head,
00:56whoever loses this game is screwed.
00:59Right.
01:00Right.
01:01You can't possibly come back from that level of disappointment.
01:04Yeah.
01:05Your bullpen's taxed.
01:06You had a game that you had to work really hard for,
01:09and then you lost it.
01:10Well, that team's done.
01:11You're done.
01:11You're done.
01:12All they've done from that point is go on the road twice in a row
01:17and completely punk the supposed best team in the history of baseball.
01:23They told everybody we're never pitching to Shohei again.
01:26All they've done is pitch to Shohei and get him out.
01:29You're getting hot shot ground balls over to first base,
01:32and Vlad Guerrero is slapping first base with his open hand.
01:36I mean, the Jays have just swaggered around since that game.
01:40So why do we think stuff like that?
01:42Because it's a convenient narrative.
01:45And, you know, I wonder what the actual records are in the postseason
01:51of a team losing a deep, deep, deep game.
01:55Not like a 10-inning game, but a game where both teams really get taxed.
01:59I wonder if the team that loses doesn't actually come back and win more often
02:03than the narrative is, oh, you're done.
02:06You're done.
02:06You're done.
02:06You can't possibly come back from that.
02:08Because you're emotionally spent and now you're physically spent.
02:11So you've got neither working for you.
02:13And all they've done since then is play perfect baseball.
02:16Right, right.
02:17Perfect baseball.
02:18So anyway, enough about that stupid World Series.
02:21But anyway, I meant what I said a second ago, and I'd love,
02:26we would love to sort of dip our toe in the water with all of you Warrior fans.
02:31This is silly, right?
02:32It's only been five games, and I want to make sure that, like,
02:35at least from my standpoint, I don't make it about these five games.
02:38That's not what it's technically about.
02:40But I have no interest in Giannis at all.
02:44None.
02:45None.
02:46And I wonder how many of you sort of feel like you're in the same boat.
02:52Or is that crazy?
02:54Like, I'm open-minded enough to be like, am I doing this wrong?
02:58Like, that's Giannis.
03:00All you want in the NBA is one of those dudes.
03:03That's all you want.
03:05And the dude that we've got, his days are numbered.
03:08So would it be absolutely perfect?
03:12And what does Joe Lacob do?
03:14What do we always hear from all the reporters?
03:16Big game hunter.
03:17Yep.
03:17Big game hunter.
03:18Okay.
03:19So Giannis, though, whether it's a pipe dream,
03:22whether we've talked about it too many times, okay, I get all that.
03:27But what crazy person wouldn't acquire Giannis if you could?
03:34And I guess that's me.
03:37And it's for those two reasons that I just brought up earlier on the crossover.
03:41Number one, if I believe in the team that I'm watching right now,
03:44then I only want to think about right now.
03:47Like, I do not have any interest now in talking about next year or the year after.
03:53And then secondarily, I really do have what I would call a healthy fear or respect for the idea that this would not look like you think it would look.
04:05You just never know.
04:06It wouldn't be turnkey.
04:08I don't think things are turnkey like that.
04:10Well, when Jimmy came, it was pretty turnkey.
04:12It was kind of turnkey.
04:12And the thing about that is you know that Steph and Jimmy and Draymond work, and you've seen it.
04:18And you've seen it now for the end of last year and into the postseason, the first round, and now through five games.
04:24You've seen it.
04:25It fits and it works.
04:26And so even if it had to cost you Kaminga, which you couldn't do until January or whatever, you don't know that if Giannis came in,
04:33and I think Jimmy would have to go out, most likely, or Draymond, or you'd have to part with some of your core.
04:40And I'm with you as far as, you know, it may not work.
04:43And what you're doing right now, it's working.
04:45You're four-in-one, small sample, whatever.
04:47But the depth and your core, everything you've got cooking right now,
04:52and I know you've got to knock on wood with age and health, whatever, but Giannis will be 31 in December.
04:57He's still a phenomenal top-five player currently going, but you have another guy in Steph Curry who's at that level.
05:04Well, and there's also something to be said even five games in, but when you see something, I'm like,
05:10I'd like to watch this.
05:12I'd like to see where this goes.
05:15So don't mess this up.
05:16I just, I do.
05:17I want to see where this goes.
05:18I'm not sure that it's going to lead to the Western Conference Finals.
05:22I'm not positive that Kaminga's going to be on the team.
05:25I'm not positive that everybody's going to be healthy.
05:27I'm not positive that Jonathan will continue to play this way or that Jimmy will continue.
05:32Like, I'm not positive, but I would like to see where this goes.
05:36And so that's it.
05:37I want to see where this goes.
05:39So I don't, I don't, I don't want to upset anything.
05:42And then here's where I could almost start convincing myself of maybe odd things,
05:47because Giannis is a great player.
05:49But if the idea is, hey, you'd get Giannis, it's kind of like what the Lakers just did, right?
05:55Like, LeBron's still there, but we got our guy for the future.
05:59All right.
06:00Well, is the presence of that guy alone enough to ensure that you're going to be awesome down the road?
06:07Well, his presence in Milwaukee the last couple years has not ensured crap.
06:12So, like, why, and in fact, he had some good players around him.
06:16He played with Dame Lillard all year last year until the playoffs.
06:21And?
06:23Yeah.
06:24What'd that get you?
06:25You know what I mean?
06:26So, like, that's the other thing that goes through my head.
06:30Teams are still teams.
06:31But, even in the NBA, where the number one player is most important, maybe a good team can't win without its best player.
06:39But if all you've got is the best player and you don't have a team to put around him, I don't think you have much either.
06:45Yeah, and I wonder about the impact of what Jimmy Butler has done.
06:50Like, you talked about him being an ultimate locker room guy right now, which is kind of different from, I guess, the way it was in other spots.
06:58But the mentoring that he's doing with Kaminga, the overall vibes that Jimmy has brought, beyond just the buddy heel Jimmy thing,
07:05he has come in and not only fit, but he's elevated the culture here.
07:09I'm not saying Giannis couldn't do the same thing.
07:12Who knows?
07:12I mean, Giannis is a better player than Jimmy Butler, but you would be shaking up and disrupting what appears to be a very good chemistry right now on this team.
07:21And we've got a Twitter poll along these exact lines for you.
07:26So, Dub Nation, time to get engaged.
07:28We do it before every game.

07:46And Giannis' future continues to be a big story around the league.
07:51So, if it meant losing Jimmy Butler, multiple first-round picks, and more, probably Kaminga, let's be real,
07:59would you still want the Warriors to trade for Giannis?
08:03Vote now on 95.7 The Game's Twitter page, and we will share the results with you later.
08:12And yes, Warriors Live starts in an hour and a half.
08:14Yep.
08:15So, we're firing on all cylinders quick today.
08:17We'll get to all of this.
08:18We'd love to hear from you on the idea of, do you have any, like right now, do you have interest in getting into Giannis trade talks?
08:26If it goes that way later this year, that's one thing.
08:29We will have more reaction from the Giants announcing their new manager and introducing him, Tony Vitello.
08:35I was over there.
08:36Very, very impressive.
08:37You were?
08:38I was there.
08:38Okay.
08:38Yeah, I went.
08:39I went down there, and we did the darn thing.
08:41I'm surprised they let you in.
08:42They did.
08:43They let me in.
08:43You know people.
08:44Well, I spent yesterday being like, this is how you do a press conference.
08:48So, I had to go down there and do a press conference.
08:50That's right.
08:51You know what I mean?
08:51You were pretty bossy yesterday.
08:53You've got to back that thing up.
08:54You handled it.
08:55Great question, too, which I'm sure we'll play at some point throughout the day.
08:58At some point.
