00:00Now it's a sit down with Madeline Brewer.
00:02Hi, Madeline.
00:03Your new movie anniversary just dropped and it is wild.
00:07The previews are such a tease.
00:09How hard is it to stay tight-lipped about it
00:11to friends and during promo?
00:12Do you have a line ready for it
00:13when people ask you for the dish?
00:15I am trying to not be too revealing
00:19of what happens with my character.
00:22But also, I really do want people to watch it
00:25and not really have me in their mind.
00:28I want them to experience it for themselves.
00:31I think that it is the kind of film
00:34that gives you the opportunity to take some time to digest it,
00:38to really think like, what the hell just happened?
00:41Your sister went missing.
00:44It's not a coincidence.
00:45The movie truly has an all-star cast.
00:48Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Phoebe Denivore,
00:51Zoe Deutsch, Dylan O'Brien.
00:53Who had you fangirling the most?
00:55I want to say Diane Lane, but it was Kyle Chandler.
00:58I mean, Diane Lane is an icon.
01:01Like, don't get me wrong here.
01:03She's a freaking icon.
01:05But Kyle, I was really big into Friday Night Lights.
01:09I'm a big fan of this.
01:11This battle is not over.
01:14I've kind of circled around Zoe for years.
01:17Like, we are at the same events,
01:18and I just always felt like we would get along and we do.
01:21Phoebe is a doll.
01:22And then a reunion with my girl,
01:26my McKenna Grace, my bird girl,
01:28because we met when she was 13 years old
01:30when we were doing The Handmaid's Tale,
01:32and now she's a movie star.
01:34So, look at her go.
01:36And, you know, Dylan O'Brien, he's great too.
01:39Was acting alongside Diane Lane scary?
01:41What was the biggest takeaway from that experience?
01:44Any advice?
01:45You better be covering your face from that sun.
01:48Better be wearing sunscreen,
01:50and you better be covering your face and your neck
01:52and your hands from the sun.
01:56She was very, um...
01:57She's really a very poised and deliberate individual.
02:02And I mean that in the best possible sense.
02:04She's very warm.
02:05She felt very, like, mom.
02:07She's the matriarch, literally, of the family,
02:09but of this shooting experience,
02:11she really held that space very, very well.
02:14Your acting career is incredibly prolific,
02:17including Orange is the New Black, Handmaid's Tale, You.
02:20Do you have a spidey sense for interesting projects
02:23or an agent with an incredibly keen eye?
02:26A lot of it is the director for me.
02:28What's on the page is on the page.
02:29That's great.
02:30There's a character there.
02:30If there's a character I can connect to, perfect.
02:33Yes, when I read a script,
02:34I know pretty immediately whether it's for me or not.
02:38I get this feeling sometimes,
02:39like, I need to bite into raw meat.
02:43Like, I need to dig my fingers
02:44and, like, rip apart a piece of raw meat.
02:46Rip apart a piece of raw meat.
02:50And sometimes I find a character
02:52that makes me feel that way.
02:53They're few and far between.
02:55This was one where I was like, yep, I must.
02:58Okay, in 10 seconds or less,
03:00tell everyone why they should go see Anniversary.
03:02Ready? Go.
03:04I want people to experience the film
03:07and really just spend some time with it.
03:10Talk about it.
03:11I want people to discuss it
03:13because that's what art is supposed to do.
03:17Madeline, thank you so much for dropping by today.
