00:00Welcome to the video from the AutoMagazin Tuning Blog, where today we're going to be featuring an exciting comparison between the new Audi A5 Avant and its big brother the Audi A6 Avant, both of which are model year 2025 and therefore in their latest generation.
00:18Please note that our comparison is not a real direct comparison, but only a virtual comparison.
00:26The vehicles in the video are sample vehicles for visual simplification.
00:31With the new A5 Avant and the also recently introduced A6 Avant, Audi is fundamentally refreshing its mid-range and upper mid-range models.
00:40The A4 is becoming the A5, the A6 is keeping its familiar name, but in the future the model family will be supplemented by a fully electric A6 Tron as well as conventional TDI and TFSI engines.
00:54Visually, it is immediately apparent that both models are very similar.
00:59The A6 Avant in particular looks like a stretched version of the A5 Avant, an impression that is entirely understandable given the design and proportions.
01:08In terms of dimensions, however, there is not much difference between the two Avant models.
01:13The A5 Avant measures around 4.8 meters in length, around 1.9 meters in width, and almost 1.5 meters in height.
01:22The wheelbase is 2.9 meters.
01:25At almost 5 meters, the new A6 Avant is around 6 centimeters longer than its predecessor and also offers a wheelbase of 2.9 meters, but with around 3 centimeters more space than the A5.
01:37The width of the A6 is just under 1.9 meters.
01:41This makes it only slightly wider than the smaller A5.
01:45In terms of design, both Avant models feature flat, sporty lines and a pronounced front end.
01:52The A6 looks somewhat more prestigious, thanks to its wider grille and more elegantly shaped rear roof line.
01:59However, the flatter rear end of the A6 does compromise some of the storage space.
02:05Nevertheless, the cargo volume in the A6 Avant is anything but small.
02:09Depending on the engine, it offers over 500 liters in standard condition and increases to over 1,500 liters with the rear seats folded down.
02:17Compared to its predecessor, which held almost 1,700 liters, this is a slight step backwards, but still at a high level.
02:27Thanks to its width of around 1 meter, two large suitcases can be stowed side by side.
02:33The rear seats, which can be split in a ratio of 40 times 40, also allow for flexible loading, for example for winter sports equipment.
02:40The A5 Avant is slightly weaker, at 450 to just over 1,400 liters, depending on the engine.
02:51For example, the 2.0 TDI offers around 450 to 1,400 liters.
02:56The 150hp air base gasoline engine offers around 480 to just over 1,400 liters of cargo volume.
03:04The interior of both vehicles is also very similar.
03:07The digital cockpit consists of the Audi Virtual Cockpit with a screen diagonal of around 30 centimeters and the approximately 37 centimeter MMI touch display.
03:19A passenger display is also available as an option.
03:22All screens are based on OLED technology and have a curved design.
03:28According to users online, the quality of the materials has recently been frequently criticized, although this point remains highly subjective.
03:34The basic design appears modern and technically high quality.
03:40In terms of drivetrains, both Avant's models are future-oriented, with a focus on electrification.
03:45The new A6 Avant starts with a 2.0 TDI four-cylinder with 204H pour and a 30 TFI six-cylinder with 367H pour.
03:56Both engines feature the so-called MV Plus Milt hybrid technology.
04:00This includes a 48-volt battery, a belt starter generator, and a drive train generator with integrated power electronics.
04:10This technology enables electric parking and maneuvering and delivers an additional torque of up to 230 newton and up to 24HPS when starting off or overtaking.
04:20Up to 25 kilowatts of energy can be recovered during braking.
04:26The A5 Avant is also available with MHV technology.
04:31However, the range of engines is wider.
04:34On the petrol side, there is a 2.0 TFSI with 150 buyer and a 204HR variant.
04:40The latter also with all-wheel drive.
04:44The diesel is also a 2.0 TDI with 204H para.
04:49This one also optionally comes with all-wheel drive.
04:52A manual transmission is no longer offered in either model series.
04:55Progressive steering is standard.
04:58There are various chassis options to choose from.
05:01The A5 Avant offers a standard chassis, a sports chassis, and an S-sports chassis with adaptive damper control.
05:10Sports chassis lowers the body by 20mm.
05:14According to users online, the adaptive chassis promises a much more noticeable spread between comfort and dynamics than before.
05:22The A6 Avant offers three chassis variants.
05:26An even more comfortable standard chassis, a sports chassis that is also lowered by 20mm and adaptive air suspension with controlled damping.
05:35According to Audi, this is a combination of high ride comfort and sporty handling.
05:40The A5 Avant starts at just under 47,000 Euro 47 petrol model and around 56,000 Euro 56,000 model.
05:48The new A6 Avant can be ordered from March 2025 and starts at around 58,000 Euro with the 200 4H Boppa TFSI.
05:56The 2 UR TDI with MHEV Plus is priced at almost 62,000 Euro SU.
06:03The first deliveries are planned for the end of May 2025 as always.
