BJP’s Tuhin Sinha says that Bihar has a lot of legacy issues, including weak health infrastructure. In this Exclusive conversation, he acknowledges progress but admits that much more needs to be done to transform Bihar’s development model. Watch the full discussion.&nbsp;

00:00you talked about uh hospitals the videos that we're seeing on social media of darbanga hospital

00:06uh darbanga medical college and hospital the visuals are pathetic i mean the condition of

00:11hospitals from inside and the health minister will definitely be questioned on that so that's

00:17an exception and nobody can defend that in fact you know the the health minister should have

00:23immediately taken all the remedial and i'm sure the remedial measures have been taken but the very

00:27fact that that you know issue came to the fore shows that a lot more needs to be done see bihar has

00:34had many legacy issues but if you look at pure data from 3300 kilometers of national highway stretch in

00:412004 2005 to 6000 plus kilometers of national highway stretch in bihar now from 350 kilometers of rural

00:50roads in 2005 to 120 000 kilometers of rural roads from five to six hours of average

00:57electricity in 2004 2005 to 20 21 hours of average electricity now in fact if you look at the

01:04poverty rate in 2015 in bihar it was 40 percent now it is four percent which shows that one of

01:10the biggest successes among other states in fighting poverty has been of bihar so all of these augur well

01:16for the future of bihar on the other hand you spoke of infrastructure why do we have crores of rupees of

01:23bridges collapsing every time there is a rain in bihar there are four or five of them which have

01:29collapsed and definitely you know nobody can defend the the flawed construction of those bridges

01:36and uh you know i'm not privy to what the investigation revealed because many of these were staked uh you

01:41know perhaps many of these were were expedited at the time when they just sweep yeah the government

01:48was in power for 18 19 months in between and whenever they come you know get a hang of power

01:53they indulge in unabated corruption but if you look at the overall picture of bihar you know the kind of

01:58connectivity three airports simanchal which you which these people had made the hub of illegal migration

02:04today has a airport right in the heart of purnia a distance which you know people from the border

02:11area of purnia used to cover to delhi in 26 hours that's being covered in two and a half hours by air

02:18that's the level of development and airport in darbanga and all across the state if you you know i would

02:24suggest i would request you travel you know since there are a few days remaining for the elections

02:29journalists who have gone to bihar to cover are mighty impressed with the seamless road connectivity

02:35in just the last six years that's the base of development which bihar has witnessed in the last

02:40few years you touched upon corruption the CAG report which came out recently it flags that there was a

02:46there was an irregularity of 70 000 crore rupees in government departments in bihar how do you respond

02:52well that's that's still uh that i don't have much information about that because you know they're still

02:58being investigated and the CAG reports reveal a lot of things but there are subsequent investigations

03:03don't necessarily corroborate the initial findings so i will wait for the final report
