A migrant sex offender who was mistakenly released from prison has claimed he tried to hand himself in to police the day before he was apprehended.Hadush Kebatu told Sky News he approached police on Saturday morning, when he was in London, and told them he was a wanted man but was ignored. The Metropolitan Police has said it is “not aware of any evidence” to support Kebatu’s claims and said his actions when he was arrested were “more like those of someone trying to avoid officers”.The Ethiopian national was forcibly removed to his home country on Tuesday night with a team of five escorts on the flight, and arrived on Wednesday morning with no right to return to Britain, the Home Office said.
