00:00I have my highest poll numbers that I've ever had, and you know, based on what I read, I guess I'm not allowed to run, so we'll see what happens.
00:09That's President Trump, asked about the possibility of a third term while on his diplomatic trip through Asia.
00:15Trump later added what the Constitution says about that.
00:20And I would say that if you read it, it's pretty clear, I'm not allowed to run, it's too bad, I'm just too bad, but we have a lot of great people.
00:28His remarks followed comments from House Speaker Mike Johnson, who said there is no way around the Constitution's 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms.
00:38It's been a great run, but I think the president knows, and he and I have talked about the constrictions of the Constitution, as much as so many American people lament that.
00:48Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of a third term, fueling speculation, after former advisor Steve Bannon told The Economist, there's a plan for Trump to seek one.
00:57But White House officials have dismissed that, saying Bannon was simply trying to draw attention to himself.
01:03The president has also shot down talk of a vice president workaround, calling the idea too cute, and saying it wouldn't be right.
