00:00You've heard me say that Feastables is the best tasting chocolate in the world.
00:04And in this video, we're going to pull back the curtain, hide no secrets,
00:07and show you exactly how we make this and why it's the best.
00:10I'm taking you on a journey from farm to factory
00:13to show you exactly how Feastables chocolate is made.
00:16And stick around, because later I'm revealing a brand new Feastables flavor
00:20that you've been asking for for years.
00:22Most of the chocolate brands you see in the grocery store are over 100 years old.
00:25And when I started Feastables,
00:26I realized a lot of chocolate companies are stuck in the past.
00:30How the ingredients are sourced, how they're put together,
00:33everything was right for disruption.
00:34But before I tell you guys how we develop our chocolate,
00:37you need to see where it all begins.
00:43It all starts here, at our cacao forest.
00:46This is where your chocolate is born.
00:48Cacao pots grow right off the branches, off the cacao tree,
00:51and they take around 5 to 6 months to ripen.
00:54Harvesting is all done by hands,
00:56using curved blades similar to this, thank you,
00:58to cut the pods in half,
00:59and then split them open with the machete.
01:01And when you crack that bad boy open,
01:03you'll see these sweet and tangy white beans.
01:05Oh, it smells great.
01:07It's slimy.
01:08This process is entirely manual,
01:10and cannot be done by a machine.
01:12These beans are then left of ferment,
01:13and this is where chocolate gets its taste from.
01:15These farmers are the first step to bringing chocolate to life.
01:18But here's the reality.
01:19Over 70% of the world's cacao comes from West Africa.
01:22Sadly, most farmers here earn less than a dollar a day,
01:26and that's why over 1.5 million children are involved in illegal child labor.
01:30When I learned this, I knew feastables had to do things differently.
01:33That's why 100% of our cacao is Fairtrade certified.
01:36We pay farmers a living income reference price,
01:38and we only work with farms that use child labor monitoring and remediation systems.
01:43When farmers are paid fairly, their kids can go to school,
01:46and the farmers can focus on growing the best cacao.
01:48That is where the quality of feastables chocolate truly comes from.
01:51After a week of sun drying, the beans are ready for the next stage.
01:55Once the beans arrive back in the...
01:57They are dumped off at our factories like this.
02:00We then grab these beans, and we roast them to unlock the chocolate flavor.
02:06You could have just left them in the bag.
02:08Then you take the roasted cacao, take off the shell,
02:11and you're left with cacao nibs like this.
02:13Then you take these cacao nibs, and you turn it into a cacao liquor.
02:16You then take this cacao liquor,
02:17and separate it into cacao butter, cacao cake, and cacao powder.
02:21Allowing you to recombine them in the right ratios to make the flavor profile you want.
02:25Before a single flavor becomes a reality,
02:27we send out surveys to you guys, our fans,
02:30asking exactly what flavors you want to see next.
02:32Then we turn those ideas into thousands of prototypes,
02:35I taste hundreds of formulas,
02:36and we run a blind test with thousands of people
02:39until one flavor crushes the rest.
02:41We asked over a quarter of a million of you
02:43which flavor you wanted to see next,
02:45and the winner, reveal it,
02:48was our brand new Feastables Caramel Bar.
02:51Beautiful.
02:52You see, this is a dairy-forward,
02:54small batch, kettle-cooked caramel.
02:56We didn't take any shortcuts.
02:57No shortcuts.
02:58No fake flavors.
02:59No fake flavors.
03:00None of that cheap added caramel color.
03:02No, none of that!
03:02Okay.
03:03We use real butter.
03:05Sweetened condensed milk.
03:06Heavy cream.
03:08That's creamy.
03:08Brown sugar.
03:10Oh my god!
03:11A little bit of vanilla,
03:12a little bit of salt.
03:13Get to stirring.
03:14I can't wait.
03:15Oh, that's really creamy.
03:16Check out this bad boy right here.
03:18Look at that.
03:19Look at how drippy it is.
03:20Look at that.
03:21Now that you know how Feastables Caramel is made,
03:23let me take you on over to the taste test room
03:25where I invited hundreds of strangers
03:26to do a blind taste test
03:28on our new Feastables Caramel Bar.
03:30Here's what they had to say.
03:31Oh man, that's good.
03:34I really like the caramel on the inside.
03:36This is really good.
03:37The texture is great.
03:38The texture is nice and smooth.
03:39That's excellent.
03:40Really smooth.
03:41Deep and rich.
03:42I'm usually not a huge chocolate person,
03:43but this is actually really good.
03:45Mmm, it's really good.
03:46I recommend you.
03:47I recommend you get your own.
03:49Can I take a bar with me?
03:50Of course.
03:52It seems the new Caramel Bar is a hit.
03:54And now Carl is going to go to the factory
03:57and show you what's inside.
03:58I'm going to the factory.
03:59It's on the other side of America.
04:01What?
04:01On the other side of America.
04:03Your plane leaves tomorrow.
04:04You heard me correct.
04:05I sent Carl and Nolan inside the factory
04:08so you can see this bar come to life.
04:11You might not know this,
04:12but we're actually expert taste testers
04:14on a professional level.
04:16First, the boys must melt down 500 pounds of butter
04:20into a giant tank.
04:23That's a lot of butter.
04:24Pull, pull, pull.
04:25All right, ready?
04:26There it goes.
04:30We need new gloves.
04:31It's in my eyeball.
04:32That butter is transported into a giant kettle,
04:35which is then mixed with simple,
04:36high-quality ingredients to create our caramel.
04:39And now we're adding the rest of the ingredients
04:41to the caramel.
04:41The first ingredient is the real brown sugar.
04:44Yeah, get it all in there, buddy.
04:45I'm going.
04:46That's what makes it so delicious.
04:47Here's the real butter.
04:49And we're also pumping in real condensed milk
04:51and real creamer.
04:52Here's the real sugar.
04:54Everything's real.
04:55I get it.
04:56The kettle slowly cooks the ingredients,
04:58turning everything into liquid gold.
05:00Now the machine's going to mix it all up
05:01and it's going to go into these chambers behind us to cook.
05:05Once the caramel is ready,
05:06it's poured into a massive kettle cooker,
05:09waiting to meet our chocolate.
05:10This batch is 500 pounds of caramel,
05:13which equates to over 12,000 chocolate bars.
05:16That's a lot of chocolate bars.
05:17As the caramel cooks,
05:20the boys get to work on creating the rich chocolate
05:22that Feastables is known for.
05:24These are the chocolate wafers,
05:26and now we're going to melt them down
05:27to prepare the molds for the chocolate.
05:33Now we wait for the amounts of chocolate to melt.
05:35When it's go time,
05:36both the caramel and the chocolate
05:38flow into the mold at the same time.
05:40And this is where the chocolate and the caramel combine.
05:42Once the bars have set,
05:43they head up into a cooling tower
05:45where they're chilled for about 20 minutes.
05:48Now that the bars are cooled,
05:49they get moved over here
05:50and thumped to get demolded.
05:52Did you say thumped?
05:53Thumped.
05:53I'm really excited to try our first caramel bar.
05:55Before they can be wrapped,
05:56every bar gets checked right on the floor.
05:58Maria here is part of the quality team.
06:00Her job is to make sure that the chocolate
06:02matches the weight and size of what we're going for.
06:05How are these ones looking?
06:05I'm going to take the deep,
06:07and I'll leave it right here.
06:08Check.
06:09Is that a good height?
06:10It is.
06:11That's perfect.
06:12There we go.
06:13There it is.
06:13That's good.
06:14We did it.
06:15It's a perfectly shaped chocolate bar.
06:17These bars are wrapped at a pace
06:18of 160 bars per minute.
06:20And this is where the bars get wrapped
06:22and then boxed by hand.
06:23We're going to try our first caramel bar.
06:25Cheers.
06:26Ching.
06:29That's good.
06:30Yeah, this is my new favorite, actually.
06:31The people were right.
06:32We should have done caramel earlier.
06:33Before we ship out our boxes of feastables,
06:36we swab for allergens, microbes,
06:38and because these bars are made
06:39in a peanut-free facility,
06:41we make sure nothing dangerous is in the mix.
06:43And once every test is passed,
06:45the boxes are loaded onto trucks
06:47on their way to a store near you.
06:48And there you have it.
06:49From our cacao farms in West Africa
06:51to our intense research labs,
06:53you've seen the links we go through
06:54to ethically sourced cacao
06:55so kids can get out of illegal child labor
06:57and get into school.
06:58You've also seen how obsessed we are
07:00over the caramel
07:01and how we took no shortcuts.
07:02We do everything we can
07:03to make this chocolate bar
07:04as good as it possibly can be.
07:06So the next time you're walking through a store
07:08and you're in a chocolate aisle like this,
07:09you have a decision to make.
07:11Support the status quo.
07:12Or buy a chocolate bar that tastes better,
07:14is better for the farmers,
07:15and better for you.
07:16The brand new caramel bar
07:17is available at Walmart, Target, and Albertson.
07:20It's very interesting, amazing.
07:21Go give it a try.
07:22Go give it a try.
