Did the Patriots get best case scenario when it comes to Stefon Diggs? More mature? Has he exceeded expectations? Can he be a #1 on a SB contender?
Transcript
00:00Is this, like, best-case scenario, Stefan Diggs, though?
00:04Like, it feels like he is giving you more than anything you could have expected.
00:08Leadership-wise, he's actually on the field.
00:12He's a legit number one receiver.
00:14I think he's in the top ten in the league in receptions.
00:17Yeah, but it makes you wonder whether it was just immaturity in, like, use the example of Buffalo.
00:23Because with the Texans, it seemed like they were okay.
00:28He and CJ Stroud and everybody else.
00:30But he certainly is not getting the touchdowns.
00:34I mean, his first touchdown was Sunday.
00:36He's not getting the touchdowns that, you know, you would have thought might have led to him being gruntled.
00:44And he's not.
00:45So I don't know if he's just grown up or if he looks at this, if he was looking at this like a last stop.
00:52I don't know what it is.
00:54I think when you see it, he sees the finish line not too far off in the distance.
01:02So he's like, all right, I'm going to – because you've got to understand, when it fell apart in Buffalo,
01:08he probably wasn't even thinking of seeing the finish line.
01:11He's like, yo, I'm still one of the best players in the league.
01:14I don't like how they're not getting me involved.
01:16I'd like to be more involved when it comes to what our offensive passing game looks like
01:21because that was becoming the big issues with him in Buffalo.
01:24But couldn't you also say, Wiggs, excuse me, that basically he feels that he's the one that unlocked Josh Allen
01:31and then Josh Allen gets $50 million a year and they're playing, you know, negotiating games with Steph Diggs
01:37and he takes it personally, right?
01:38No, but I think he got his money.
01:41I think he got the money.
01:42The thing with him was it seemed like at the end he wanted to be more involved
01:49when it came to the game planning of what's our passing game looking like
01:53because he obviously felt like, okay, I need to be a big part of that.
01:58And maybe they felt like, well, Josh Allen is becoming a better player,
02:02so we're going to figure out you might not always be the smart business to have guys
02:09if they'll do it and you can do it on a one-year deal because they want to perform
02:16and they want to get themselves money next year.
02:18And I think he looks at that.
02:19Like if you're Steph Diggs, do you think he still looks at himself where –
02:24and I know he's probably confident in his game, but it's like, all right,
02:27I'm about to set the wide receiver market if I have a great year.
02:31Or he's like, I know this is my last kick at the can.
02:33Let me do well and see what I can snatch out of it.
02:36Probably the latter, but I also think you've got to give credit to Mike Vrabel.
02:39Like I think that the relationship Mike Vrabel has with Steph Diggs
02:42is a big reason why he's so cool here.
02:44And obviously Josh McDaniels too, he should have more and more respect.
02:49But Mike McDaniels – if the reports are true that Mike Vrabel tried to recruit him
02:53out of high school, like that relationship's been going on forever,
02:55so maybe he just knows how to deal with Steph Diggs.
02:57It could also be a big compliment to Drake May.
