00:00President Samia Suluo Hassan of Tanzania made her final campaign push on Tuesday ahead of this week's general elections.
00:08At a massive rally for the ruling CCM party in Mwanza, she addressed a crowd of supporters touting her government's record, specifically its gains in the fight against corruption.
00:21We have moved away from issues of corruption and our reputation is gradually improving.
00:26We are continuing with that fight.
00:31But at the same time, areas such as good governance, reconciliation, the pursuit of a new constitution and the preservation of Tanzanian traditions and culture are all important for the well-being of the nation and its people.
00:45Although Tanzania is a multi-party democracy, a version of the CCM has been in power since the country's independence from Britain in 1961.
00:56Everything she is saying is quoted from her election manifesto, but other parties don't have one.
01:05So the first thing they think of when they wake up is what to go out and talk about.
01:10They even depart from basic principles.
01:13They just say, let me seek power and start with insults.
01:17We hope that whoever wins will empower women in entrepreneurship as well as farmers and livestock keepers, because many people are afraid to engage in farming and livestock keeping.
01:31As voters head to the polls on Wednesday, this election is unfolding under what Amnesty International calls a climate of fear, with a widespread crackdown on opposition leaders such as Tundulisu and journalists.
01:51Critics note that the approved opposition has been largely silent, with one ruling party supporters setting their lack clear policies.
02:00With Ali voting already underway in Zanzibar, President Samir Suluhu is widely expected to secure another term.
