00:00Tampa Bay Buccaneers rewrite NFL history with simultaneous rushing streaks in win over Jets.
00:07The Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave up 21 points to the New York Jets in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game,
00:13as well as giving up a blocked field goal that was returned for a touchdown with two minutes left.
00:18But that wasn't enough to sink the proverbial pirate ship as Baker Mayfield and the Bucs came roaring back
00:23to kick a field goal as time expired to win 29-27.
00:28Tampa Bay pulled off the comeback win after losing Mike Evans to injury,
00:32while already down three starters on the offensive line, Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goduki, and Cody Mott,
00:37which makes the next piece of information more impressive, in my humble opinion.
00:42During Sunday's win, the Buccaneers rushed the ball 34 times for 122 yards.
00:48Bucky Irving led the team with 66 yards on 25 carries.
00:52That was just two and a half yards shy of his over-under locally, but that's neither here nor there.
00:58On the other side of the field, the New York Jets rushed the ball 23 times for 99 yards,
01:03failing to eclipse the magic 100 number.
01:06And that's where this is all going.
01:08With the Buccaneers rushing for 122 yards,
01:11that marked 11 straight games where Tampa Bay has rushed for 100 or more yards in a game.
01:17Simultaneously, the Buccaneers stopped the Jets from rushing for 100 yards.
01:21That pushed Tampa Bay's streak to 11 consecutive games of limiting their opponent to under 100 yards rushing.
01:28Following Sunday's win, Tampa Bay's communications team announced this was the first time in NFL history
01:33that a team has had these two streaks going simultaneously, according to Elias Sports.
01:38In the 2024-25 NFL season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense ranked 4th in the NFL with 2,536 rushing yards.
01:48They had 16 touchdowns on the ground.
01:52Tampa's defense also ranked 4th in the NFL last season in rushing yards allowed.
01:57They gave up just 1,663 rushing yards to the opposition.
02:02Not bad.
02:03The Buccaneers have a brutal schedule in the weeks ahead, starting with the Eagles next weekend.
02:08They'll also face Seattle, the 49ers, Lions, Bills, and Rams.
02:12It will be interesting to see how the Bucs hold up.
02:15Philly had 366 rushing yards through three weeks.
