00:00Braves' Matt Olsen, Brian Snitker ejected after controversial call.
00:05It took more than 1,200 career games, but Braves' first baseman Matt Olsen was finally ejected.
00:12And it came on one of the most controversial calls of the season.
00:16In Friday's matchup with the Pirates, Olsen was ruled guilty of catcher's interference,
00:20leading to an argument that escalated into his first career dismissal.
00:24The play unfolded when Pittsburgh catcher Henry Davis chased a pop-up off Olsen's bat.
00:29As Davis moved, he made contact with Olsen, who had remained in the batter's box.
00:34Davis then dropped the ball, but home plate umpire Brock Ballew ruled catcher's interference on Olsen.
00:40Video replays showed Olsen did not step forward or interfere with the catcher's path.
00:46Instead, Davis appeared to bump Olsen in the process of making the play.
00:50Olsen argued the call initially and then continued from the dugout after the play ended.
00:54Ballew quickly ejected him, making it the first ejection of Olsen's career after 1,222 games.
01:03Manager Brian Snitker soon joined the argument, defending Olsen.
01:07Snitker was also tossed, adding another ejection to his long career ledger,
01:11and possibly his final one, with his managerial future still uncertain heading into the offseason.
01:16Crew chief Mark Wegner later referenced Rule 6.03A3, which covers batter interference with the catcher.
01:24But the description of the call did not seem to match what the video showed.
01:29That disconnect only fueled frustration in the Braves' dugout,
01:32with players and coaches visibly upset by what they viewed as a misapplication of the rule.
01:37For Braves fans, the sequence was jarring.
01:40Matt Olsen, known for his calm and even-keeled demeanor, had never been ejected before.
01:46Seeing him and Snitker both tossed in the same inning underscored just how unusual and baffling the call was.
01:52Late in a season already defined by disappointment, the moment added one more bizarre chapter.
01:58Braves country may not remember the score of that night's game,
02:01but they will remember the sight of Olsen leaving the dugout for the first time in protest.
