00:00Tiger Woods Underwent Another Major Spine Surgery
00:03Tiger Woods and back surgery, a combo that's unfortunately becoming more familiar than Sunday Red on the 18th green.
00:11Tiger Woods, the 15-time major champion who revolutionized golf's power and precision,
00:16has undergone his 7th back surgery since 2014, a serious lumbar disc replacement at L4-L5.
00:24It's a major procedure, not a routine cleanup.
00:26Fans will recall his 2017 spinal fusion and remarkable 2019 Masters comeback,
00:34but injuries have plagued him since, from a ruptured Achilles to repeated surgeries and rehab.
00:40Woods reports the latest operation went well, and he's already feeling better,
00:44but at 49, there's still no set timeline for his return.
00:48The surgery was done at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York by Dr. Shiraz Karishi.
00:53Scans showed a collapsed disc, fragments, and a compromised spinal canal.
00:59That's not tweaked something at the gym level, it was affecting everyday life.
01:04Tiger admitted mobility was becoming a real problem.
01:07He hasn't played a PGA Tour event since the Open Championship in 2023.
01:11He did make a heartfelt appearance at the PNC Championship with his son,
01:15but he's been out of competitive golf since.
01:17Fans hoped for a Hero World Challenge exemption in 2025, but that's looking unlikely now.
01:24It's not what you want to hear from someone whose swing has shaped modern golf.
01:28He also withdrew from the Genesis Invitational this year after the heartbreaking loss of his mother.
01:33So yeah, the hits keep coming.
01:35Now, does this mean Tiger's done?
01:38Not necessarily.
01:40His mental steel is undeniable.
01:41If we've learned anything about the man, it's that he's got the kind of mental steel most of us can't comprehend.
01:49But when your body won't cooperate, especially nearing age 50, even the fiercest spirit has limits.
