00:00Kamala Harris describes when and how Joe Biden changed.
00:04Kamala Harris expected a smooth handoff when she became the Democratic candidate
00:08after Joe Biden ended his 2024 campaign.
00:12In her memoir, 107 Days, she says she was not treated warmly by Biden or his staff.
00:19As she took over, she writes,
00:21the once warm and fuzzy Uncle Joe turned cold.
00:24The then-vice president was saddened by his apparent change in attitude toward her.
00:28After warmly welcoming us into the Biden family at the beginning of the campaign,
00:33there seemed to be a change of temperature after the election, she stated.
00:37Harris opposed Biden's plan to delay endorsing her,
00:40warning the wait would sow doubt among voters and donors.
00:43Even after he backed her, she recalls,
00:45it was almost nine minutes into the 11-minute address before he mentioned me.
00:49And at the Democratic National Convention, it was a legacy speech for him,
00:53not an argument for me, and he was entitled to it.
00:56It's Joe and Jill's decision.
00:59We all said that like a mantra, as if we'd all been hypnotized.
01:03Was it grace or was it recklessness, she wondered.
01:06In retrospect, I think it was recklessness.
01:09The stakes were simply too high.
01:11This wasn't a choice that should have been left to an individual's ego,
01:14an individual's ambition.
01:16It should have been more than a personal decision.
01:18Before the book's release, Biden's camp prepared to push back by sharing secrets of their own.
01:24Kamala has a chip on her shoulder,
01:26and she's been told by everybody in the party to keep her mouth shut or will bury you,
01:31said presidential expert Leon Wagoner.
01:33Political reporter Mark Halperin said,
01:35If the Biden people feel threatened,
01:37you will hear stories about Kamala Harris as vice president that will not make her look good.
