00:04When I saw Mamma Mia 2 in 2018, my life was changed.

00:08I didn't grow up on the original jukebox musical,

00:11but watching Lily James and Amanda Seyfried dance around Grease

00:14was exactly the kind of escapism I needed at 19 years old.

00:18I've been waiting for Mamma Mia 3 ever since, haven't we all?

00:21And while we've gotten a few updates here and there,

00:23creator and producer Judy Kramer told Deadline a third movie

00:26is in earliest stages in May of 2023.

00:30Amanda Seyfried just answered a major question fans have,

00:33why is the threequel taking so long?

00:35When asked if Mamma Mia 3 was on the way,

00:38Amanda Seyfried told Deadline,

00:40it is, yes, I think.

00:42She noted the cast is on board,

00:44but said the sequel depends on studio timing.

00:47Joking to THR, she added,

00:49show me the money,

00:50while confirming producer Judy Kramer is working on it,

00:52though Universal is focused on Wicked 2 first.

00:56Amanda joked about the high costs

00:58and described Universal's approach,

01:00as knowing they'll eventually make it with no urgency.
