00:00It all comes down to this, the heart-pounding, spine-chilling finale of Halloween Wars.
00:06Poisonous perfection versus the undercakers.
00:09We are here in the finals and it's time to get uncomfortable.
00:12Both teams have sliced their way through the competition with razor-sharp precision,
00:17creating jaw-dropping, terrifyingly delicious masterpieces that combine cake and the most pumpkin we've seen yet.
00:24That's a really heavy pumpkin.
00:25That's so heavy.
00:25We have won three out of the four challenges.
00:29And then we have the undercakers who are our underdogs.
00:32We haven't won a challenge yet.
00:34They've been nipping at Poisonous Perfection's heels.
00:37You hear that?
00:38Huh?
00:39That's the sound of risk.
00:40Now they face off for the final time in a head-to-head battle where stretching themselves to the limit is the only way to prevail.
00:47I've done a few of these.
00:48I have yet to win one.
00:49It would feel so good to not walk home in second place again.
00:53And only one of them can win.
00:54To win, they'll have to push themselves to the breaking point.
00:58It's going to eat your face off.
01:00Only one team will succeed to claim the coveted championship title and $25,000.
01:06I love a good competition.
01:07Who will survive the ultimate showdown?
01:09The clock is ticking and the stakes have never been higher.
01:13Oh my God.
01:13Oh!
01:14What was that noise?
01:15No!

01:27Poisonous perfection and the undercakers.
01:30You survived everything from scare school to the boogeyman's lair to find yourself here
01:36in the finale of Halloween Wars.
01:38Come on, guys.
01:39Great job!
01:40Yeah!
01:41Let's do this.
01:42Now you're going to attempt to cast one last spell over the judges, literally.
01:48We want you to conjure your most wickedly delicious display yet
01:53by imagining a scene where someone has fallen under the power of a modern-day spell-a-thon.
01:59For your tasting elements, transform savory ingredient into an unexpectedly sweet treat.
02:07In the Skill Spotlight tonight is everyone.
02:13This is the finals.
02:14Of course.
02:15Pumpkin carvers must carve a full character.
02:18Sugar artists are responsible for an entire story element.
02:21And cake artists must create a key structure out of cake.
02:26Nice. Okay. You got that.
02:28The Halloween Wars title and $25,000 is on the line.
02:34Your final seven hours starts...
02:37Now!
02:41Wait, where'd it go?
02:43Oh, Jonathan?
02:44It finally worked already.
02:47My gosh, it's the finals. Here we go.
02:49Look at our glowing cauldron.
02:51What do we got for tasting element here?
02:54Miso.
02:55So we got a nice salty umami flavor here.
02:58We have tahini.
02:59Oh, tahini's good.
03:02All right.
03:03I like tahini. It's sesame paste.
03:04I mean, it is savory, but man, sesame goes so well in so many desserts.
03:08I think this is going to be great.
03:10We have won three out of the four challenges we have worked on together.
03:15And we know that we're a solid team.
03:17And we just want to bring it home in the finale.
03:19What are we thinking with the spell of topics?
03:21So what kind of, like, modern thing would be going on with magic nowadays?
03:27AI is like...
03:28It's kind of like magic.
03:30Maybe witches, wizards, sorceresses are using AI now to create spells?
03:37Yeah.
03:37What's the best thing about AI?
03:40You plug in a prompt and it shoots out something that's, like, not quite right.
03:45Right?
03:46The idea for our display is that there's this spell GPT pod.
03:51But since it's going haywire and malfunctioning, we have these monsters breaking loose out of
03:56the wall and the employee is trying to contain them, but having a hard time.
04:02And every single one of us has a spotlight.
04:04Yeah.
04:04So I've got to make sure that whatever I do for my sugar, it is, like, the big, like, magical element.
04:10The pod being a scene item should definitely be cake.
04:14I'm going to do a creature that's come out of the pod, right?
04:16Yeah, busted pod.
04:18He busted out of it.
04:20All right.
04:20So it is modern day spell-a-thon.
04:23Okay.
04:24Okay, so we need spells.
04:25I think the hard part of this is most magic is set in the past.
04:30So I think we need to have a little bit of old magic with new magic.
04:33Oh, a wizard could be the old.
04:35We should have, like, witches, I guess.
04:37We decided we're going to do an old wizard battling a modern witch.
04:42She will be levitating, trying to close this portal before he releases this monster.
04:49Pumpkin, cake, sugar, it's no longer one spotlight.
04:51It is all the spotlight.
04:52Every element on this board has to be on point.
04:56So we want to go all out for the finale.
04:58We want to have, like, a portal spinning to create a very cool portal effect and the witch will levitate.
05:04I am nervous because this is my first time making an armature that floats.
05:09This is the finals, guys.
05:11Everything we got, let's all just come together and just peek at the right moment.
05:14Okay?
05:14Yeah.
05:14Perfect.
05:15Yeah.
05:15Finale.
05:16Let's do it.
05:17Let's go.
05:18All right.
05:19About to pop off here.
05:20As pumpkin people, we've got to help each other out.
05:23This is my pumpkin.
05:24Okay, that's good.
05:25Oh, no, it's old.
05:26Don't you go over.
05:28You couldn't have picked a round one.
05:29Nope.
05:30Just leave it here and we'll go get yours.
05:31This one?
05:32I think so.
05:33Oh, my God.
05:33This one's heavier.
05:35Oh, it's going.
05:37That's good enough.
05:38Okay.
05:40Well, ladies, this is it.
05:42We are in the finale of Halloween Wars.
05:44And what great teams to have.
05:46Poisonous Perfection and the Under Cakers.
05:49These two teams are so different.
05:52We have Poisonous Perfections.
05:54They've won three out of the four challenges that they've been in.
05:57And then we have the Under Cakers, who are underdogs, if you will.
06:01And they haven't won a single one, but they've always been so close.
06:05Yeah, Under Cakers has been nipping at Poisonous Perfections heels.
06:08And it's been a stronger nip every week.
06:12And this is the thing.
06:13This finale challenge is gigantic.
06:16Every single medium needs to be on display in some way.
06:20I'm looking for complete designs that don't look stock, that don't look bare.
06:25And aren't just propped up by three characters or three separate pieces.
06:30All right, let's do this.
06:32So, for the finale, everyone has a spotlight.
06:35And for Pumpkin, we have to make a full character.
06:37And that's a lot of work.
06:40So, I'm going for a centipede-like creature.
06:43This guy is monstrous.
06:45And I'm going to build him all on the table and then transfer him over.
06:50And it is pretty risky.
06:51It needs to be extremely sturdy because we don't want this thing getting wobbly.
06:55To accomplish the arm, I'm actually using really big chunks because I want this creature to be very lengthy.
07:02Making a piece like this is time-consuming because making sure that you're fitting all the pieces together right.
07:08So, a lot is riding on me to make sure I get that finished.
07:12Arm segment one.
07:13Nice.
07:15Right now, I'm using a round dowel.
07:19And I'm pushing it into my face.
07:22So, it makes like a round indentation.
07:25And that's going to be the bricks for our walls.
07:29Karine is working on our floor and our brick backboard.
07:34And Jamie is starting on her tasting element.
07:36I'm creating my pate-a-choux to make profiteroles, which is just fancy for cream puffs.
07:42Our assigned ingredient is tahini.
07:44Tahini is a challenge because it is more savory of a flavor.
07:48Jamie is making a profiterole with a tahini, mascarpone, and cardamom filling.
07:53This is my finished pate-a-choux dough.
07:55I'm going to pipe it into a mold because this mold is going to make my pups super consistent, nice and round.
08:02And they're going to look just even across the board.
08:04Okay, bringing this in the oven.
08:08Margie, how we doing?
08:09Good.
08:09I'm going to work on the face and get it out of the way.
08:11Excellent.
08:12And I'll carve the face probably on this side.
08:16Marguerite is sculpting our wizard.
08:18He's old with a furrowed brow.
08:20He's kind of worried.
08:21He's wizened.
08:22He's got sunken cheeks.
08:24I'm nervous about this one because I will be doing the biggest character that I have done so far.
08:28There's no do-overs for this one.
08:31I used butternut squash to make the hat because it starts out as the right shape.
08:35We're going to get the sugar going.
08:38And this is what we're going to pour over the plexiglass for our base.
08:42Hopefully, it is not so hot that it melts it.
08:45But I've never seen anybody do it.
08:47So, first time for everything, right?
08:49Poisonous Perfection has won almost all of their challenges.
08:52And we have yet to win one.
08:55So, this is the big one.
08:57I've been on a lot of teams.
08:58This team is an extremely talented team.
09:01I really would like them to be able to win their first one they've ever done.
09:04And I would really like to win one.
09:06All right.
09:07Let's see if this works.
09:08So, I'm trying to swirl the colors in so when the light shines through, it'll look a little bit more mystical, magical.
09:19This is the big one that I'm worried about, though, because you can hear it.
09:23You can hear the board crinkling.
09:25Yep.
09:26You hear that?
09:27Uh-huh.
09:28That's the sound of risk.
09:30So, everything's looking all right.
09:32I mean, really, time will tell because it has to set.
09:34It looks like it's working.
09:36We haven't had any catastrophic problems yet.
09:40All right.
09:41I'm happy.
09:43That's a risk today, but it's go big or go home.
09:48So, for our backdrop, I'm creating this portal effect.
09:51I'm starting off with a base color of light pink.
09:54Next, I'm going in with my airbrush machine to add a bit of an ombre because I want the sky to fade out to darkness.
10:02This is my favorite part.
10:04I'm using my spatula with some colored buttercream to make the trees.
10:10So, last time, I didn't get to do the kind of amazing colorful backdrops I usually do because we were doing a kid's room, which I know the judges loved.
10:19And that's why we're bringing it back this time.
10:22So, hopefully, it would give us the win.
10:26We've got under cakers over here.
10:28Tanisha is hand painting, yet again, you know, the most beautiful sunset in her trademark colors.
10:36Again, like, their backgrounds have always been a character in all of their designs.
10:41And because she's so good with the palette knife, she expresses such character and movement so quickly.
10:47It's such a joy to watch.
10:49I could watch her paint all day.
10:50It's hypnotizing.
10:50Like, it's hypnotizing.
10:51I found myself staring at her painting, watching her do it, and I got drawn into it.
10:56All right, that should be good there.
10:58Six hours left.
10:58Six hours.
11:00Whoa.
11:01Let's go.
11:01We're an hour in.
11:04Got to keep moving.
11:05Don't stop.
11:06Is that large enough?
11:08No, you're not.
11:09Right now, I'm working on the top of our pod.
11:12For our cake spotlight, we need to have an element of the scene being made out of cake.
11:19So what better than that pod that is making these creatures?
11:23I'm working to win.
11:25I'm really working as neat as I can, so our piece is perfect.
11:30I'm coating it in a thick ganache.
11:33Oh, very nice.
11:34So it's going to harden really well?
11:35Yes, and it's going to stay put.
11:37It means a lot to me to be able to show what I can do, so I really, really would like to
11:44have that champion title to bring back home with me.
11:47My daughters will be so proud and so stoked.
11:53Are you good?
11:54Yep.
11:57Okay.
11:58We do really want to win this finale, not only for our whole team, but also for Jamie,
12:03because she's been here before, and she knows what it feels like, and we want to make sure
12:06she takes home a win today.
12:07It would feel so good to not walk home in second place again.
12:13I have been to the finale twice.
12:16This is, hands down, the best team that I've ever had.
12:21I just want it to work out this time.
12:24Nils?
12:25Yeah?
12:25I've got two failures under my belt.
12:27How are you doing?
12:28I've got, you know, like five.
12:30I think there's an interesting story here between Jamie on Poisonous Perfection and Nils
12:35over here on Under Cakers.
12:36Both of these artists have been here a couple, two, three times.
12:41Yeah.
12:42And they've never tasted the sweet flavor of victory.
12:47So I think that that's also supercharging both of these teams.
12:51It's the competition between the two historical underdogs.
12:55Yeah.
12:56And they both want it so bad.
12:58Yeah.
12:59And only one of them can win.
13:01I am pouring tahini right now.
13:08And it's sesame seed paste.
13:10It tastes like nice and toasty and a lot like sesame.
13:14The trick to balancing this is going to be to kind of make it a little bit sweeter.
13:17So I'm going to be incorporating the tahini into a creamy mascarpone filling for our profiteroles.
13:25This is just tahini and mascarpone.
13:27And I'm just going to mix this together until it's relatively smooth.
13:31I have a plan to make these profiteroles look like spiders.
13:34The story is somebody asked for dessert.
13:37Instead, what comes out is a nest of spiders.
13:40So I've got to make little chocolate legs stick onto my cute little profiteroles.
13:45Bunch of spider legs.
13:46So I've definitely been in the finale before.
13:50And sometimes it's really, really close.
13:52And it just comes down to the tasting element.
13:54So I've got to make sure that these are looking pretty, tasting amazing.
14:00Because if it's close, I want to win with my flavors.
14:03As far as competitors go, Nils is the one that has also been crushing it along with me with our flavors and our desserts.
14:11So I think this is a really great, like, head-to-head.
14:13And I love a good competition.
14:16It's not stressful at all.
14:19For red and white miso, I've never really tried them by themselves.
14:22So let's figure that out real quick.
14:26For the tasting element, I get miso.
14:29That's not something I've used a ton of in my life.
14:32In fact, I've probably never used miso paste.
14:35Didn't even know there were two types of miso.
14:36Ooh, salty.
14:44Also salty, a little more funky.
14:47The red miso's got a little bit more flavor and that aged sort of fermented flavor to it.
14:54This one's a little bit lighter.
14:55They're about equal salty.
14:56So I think if I run both, we'll see which one tastes better.
14:59And we're going to go with the one that comes out best.
15:01Here we go.
15:02For the tasting element, I don't believe I've seen anybody do a creme brulee on this before.
15:07So we're going to run some creme brulees.
15:10And what I'm thinking is, since we've got a burned sugar on it, it can be sort of deflected spells that start to melt the ground around since it's a spell battle.
15:18Double whisking.
15:19This is the white miso.
15:23Red miso.
15:28It's going to be red.
15:29They're both salty, but the red really has that pop I think the judges are looking for.
15:34It's a little bit more texture in it.
15:36And I just, I think it's really important at this point to really pop the flavor up.
15:40So we're going to go with the red.
15:41What's creme brulee without sugar?
15:43Pudding.
15:45Four hours left.
15:46We've got four hours.
15:47Four hours, yeah, I'm good.
15:49Are you good?
15:50Five hours, how are you feeling?
15:51Jamie, I need you to hold this piece.
15:55I love the shape of this.
15:57It's a very borax abdomen-like insect.
16:01I'm using zip ties to hold my pieces to that steel armature because I can't screw into it like wood.
16:07Just FYI, guys, I am a little behind on my time.
16:11So I'm just keeping you posted.
16:13Okay.
16:13And I think this is a good point to consider moving it over to our base.
16:19It's a moment of truth because if anything happens while we're moving it, we won't have
16:24the time to create one with as much detail that I put into this first.
16:28Oh, here they go.
16:29Oh, jeez.
16:30Where am I standing?
16:31Okay, we are twisting it first because we want the tail to be here, right?
16:36Okay.
16:37So if you could push while we push simultaneously.
16:40That's a really heavy pumpkin.
16:41That's so heavy.
16:42Don't pick it up.
16:43Just slide.
16:44Slide that.
16:46Good.
16:46Ready?
16:47Yes.
16:47Okay, here we go.
16:48Here we go.
16:49Oh my gosh.
16:49One, two, three.
16:51Yep.
16:52You got it?
16:53It looks so heavy.
16:54This has to make it.
16:55Okay, stop.
17:00Down.
17:02Right there is perfect.
17:03There we go.
17:04Oh.
17:05That little hand dodge right there.
17:08Now what?
17:09Now they're going to take it off that.
17:10They're going to screw it into the board.
17:11Can you pick up by the flange, not the pumpkin?
17:13No.
17:13I'm trying.
17:15Yeah, she'll take the wood.
17:16I guess I'm so tense.
17:17Ready?
17:18Yep.
17:20Slide it out.
17:21Smooth.
17:22Smooth.
17:22Smooth.
17:24They're like butter.
17:25All right, hold it there.
17:27Is this where we want him?
17:28We did it.
17:28Yeah.
17:28Okay.
17:29Wow, your palms were sweaty, huh?
17:31This would be his knee.
17:32This will be his ankle.
17:34It's going to go like this.
17:36I am making some legs.
17:38The wizard is kneeling down, so he's got the power to fight Aurora.
17:42Movement is really important, of course, and sometimes it's hard when you have static things like pumpkins and cake.
17:48So this part is pretty important because you've got to get it in the right position.
17:52So Margaret has never done a piece this big, but she's going to take the risk for this finale because she wants to go all out.
17:59I am using this loop tool.
18:01This is one of the larger ones that they take a lot of stuff off.
18:04I'm making a fabric texture on his clothing.
18:07I think it's so exciting.
18:08I'm kind of doing it for my grandkids, and I kind of want to just send them a little message that just go for it and have fun and do something that maybe you're not that comfortable doing.
18:18Because I was a little nervous.
18:20I still am, kind of, but, you know, just go for it.
18:22Don't be afraid to try new things.
18:23I've really grown as a carver because I plunged myself into doing things I've never done.
18:28That's going to work perfectly.
18:31These are ribbon strips.
18:32I just, I like them to make fabric look flowy.
18:34And he's kind of a wizardy, raggedy kind of a guy.
18:36That cape looks dope.
18:41I'm going to pour my panel.
18:43I need to have three panels for this pod.
18:45And actually, two of the panels are going to be busted because we need a monster, like, coming out of it.
18:53I need some good-looking panels that I can control the brake and then glue everything back in place in a sophisticated way.
19:04Really?
19:06Strongest piece of isomalt ever.
19:09Oh, my God.
19:14There we go.
19:15Did you see the broken glass that Jamie is working on out of sugar?
19:18Yes, yes.
19:19Crazy.
19:19If I asked you to take a panel of real glass and break it into pieces that you can put back together like a puzzle piece, would you be able to do that?
19:27No.
19:27I mean, she's literally doing that, but with sugar.
19:31Done.
19:31Done.
19:36It's looking super nice and clean so far.
19:38I'm really liking it.
19:40We just got to make it look dark and terrifying.
19:43I'm starting off with my structure.
19:45I'm just going to put the cake, put it together, covered with chocolate, then put the cake on it.
19:51I'm going all out for the finale.
19:53I'm creating a levitating witch character that's fighting our evil wizard.
19:56This is a little nerve-wracking for me because I am nervous about my character falling over.
20:03Making cake pop filling, instead of stacking the cake on her, I'm just going to use cake and buttercream just so I'm squishing it together.
20:10Just so she isn't too heavy and it'll be easier to mold.
20:13I really want my piece to be light because she'll be flying and the less cake I put on and pack on, it'll make her light enough so she wouldn't fall off.
20:23I'm just about to start sculpting her face.
20:26Ten years ago, back in Ghana, that's when I first started trying out making cakes.
20:31I had to make my fondant from scratch because we couldn't go to the store and buy fondant.
20:36Like, that wasn't a thing.
20:37So, I eventually just didn't move forward with it because it was time-consuming and makeup is what took off for me in my career.
20:46And fast forward to two years ago for my son's first birthday, I made the cake and it was so fun.
20:53As a makeup artist, still have to go into these characters and highlight and contour.
20:58So, it was basically the same techniques and just using different mediums.
21:01She's just one of my clients, getting her makeup done.
21:05No one paints a face like Tanisha.
21:07That is true.
21:07I'm just saying, best makeup we've ever had on the show.
21:11Fierce.
21:12This is the finale and I cannot believe that we are here.
21:16I'm very grateful because I'm self-taught and from a little country in the Caribbean and now I'm here doing this.
21:25It still feels like a dream.
21:26Okay.
21:27The most impressive part to me of their design is in the back.
21:30They're going to have this spinning portal that's opening up.
21:33So, we're going to try to make this really light because the turntable is designed to sit flat, but we're going to try to mount it to the back so that it'll turn this way through the board.
21:43So, hopefully this works.
21:45We're taking some risks today, but we are here in the finals and it's time to get uncomfortable.
21:50I've done a few of these.
21:51I have yet to win one.
21:53I'd really love to win it.
21:55You know, I know my kids are at home sending me videos being like, dad, you can do it.
22:00And so, I just, you know, just want to win for everybody that sort of supported me through all this.
22:06Tanisha, you still got to paint the inside of that.
22:08I'm painting the portal with the same colors of buttercream I used for the back job.
22:13Get it going.
22:22It's working and it's rotating.
22:26Oh, my God.
22:26Oh, my God.
22:28What happened?
22:28Oh, no.
22:31Oh, careful.
22:32Watch him.
22:33Watch him.
22:33So, I really got to glue it.
22:35Okay, glue it now.
22:36So, if this witch falls, we're losing this finale.
22:40Tanisha, so metal and glue doesn't really go together that well.
22:45So, we're going to hit it with a little bit of duct tape.
22:52Okay.
22:53So, see how that holds right now?
22:56She's going to rotate a little bit.
22:58Did it hold?
22:59It's still going to rotate.
23:00Right now, it feels like everything is going wrong and nothing is going right.
23:04We didn't realize that glue, plastic and metal, don't glue well together that well.
23:09The pipe was not glued in when it was put on.
23:12And at this point, it's really hard to take it off and fix the problem.
23:16I'm going to see if I can loop it and basically keep it from doing anything too crazy here.
23:22We twist the copper pipes around the base of it, which gives it even more support.
23:28Nils has been here a number of times and Tanisha and I haven't.
23:31It's really helpful to have him reminding us all the time of what we're doing.
23:35Keeping on task.
23:36Keep working.
23:37Have fun.
23:38Don't stop.
23:39Don't breathe.
23:40Just keep going.
23:41Them never having done shows, I take it upon myself to make sure that they can succeed.
23:47And ultimately, I think being a team leader, you don't sit back, you get your hands dirty,
23:51you get in there and you just try to lift everybody up.
23:54Okay.
23:54Sweet.
23:55You're a hero.
23:58Got to get a lot of green for a lot of tentacles.
24:00Or the giant creature coming out of the portal with the big green arms.
24:04The hard part about this is these are really big pieces of sugar, so they have to be fairly thick.
24:09So these tentacles are becoming out of the backboard, so I have to put a little bit of a dowel in it,
24:14because I drilled a hole, so it'll go through and it'll hold so it won't go.
24:18But basically, I have to make sure that the general support of it is strong enough.
24:24That's why I torched into it.
24:27Give it a twist here.
24:29I can't make them too thin, but then we're going to use this just sort of give them some movement.
24:34So as it solidifies, it'll hold a cool shape, because they can't just be like this.
24:44All of Nils' sugar work seems to be sort of supportive, either underpinnings or backboard pieces,
24:50but still like huge characters in the story.
24:52Yeah, and what I really love is he's being very deliberate tonight.
24:56Yeah.
24:56He is trying out different methods.
24:58I'm trying to get this guy on.
24:59It's hot sugar, so it's going to bend, but I need it in a specific shape at a specific length.
25:04It has to bend just right for the piece, because it's going into this spring,
25:09and then I have another one coming out, so it needs to feel like it's actually moving.
25:13Now I'm working on our magician.
25:16It's going to be building the body with rice cereal treats,
25:19and then making the details with modeling chocolate.
25:21I'm going to need to move him to the base.
25:25Here, little guy.
25:26Let me grab you.
25:28Yay.
25:29For sculpting my head.
25:32Last week went really, really well, so this week they know what I can do,
25:38so I need to bring it once more.
25:40Corinne's characters are getting better and better with each challenge.
25:44The details.
25:45Do you see the hair?
25:47You can actually see the way the hair is combed back.
25:50Mm-hmm.
25:50I feel like I can almost see every strand.
25:53Yeah.
25:53It's looking very good.
25:56So I have some gold and some silver isomalt that I'm going to pull,
25:59because I'm going to have this unicorn that's kind of cute,
26:03but not really, because it got messed up in the machine,
26:06and it's going to eat your face off.
26:08The unicorn will be rice cereal treat and modeling chocolate.
26:10Jamie was on Halloween Wars in two past seasons as a cake sculptor,
26:15and I know she is very excited to actually get her hands into some sculpting.
26:21So I have found my way back into cake sculpting land.
26:24I am making the most deadly purple unicorn I have ever seen in my entire life,
26:29and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
26:32How do we feel about them right there?
26:35Yeah, it looks good.
26:36I am pulling strips of skin from this giant pumpkin,
26:42because I want to use them to help cover my zip ties,
26:45but also give some texture to my bug monster.
26:50Paulina, can you go into super high gear?
26:53I'm trying.
26:54I am super stressed for time,
26:57because I still need to paint this whole guy,
26:59and there are a lot of zip ties to cover.
27:01Even though their characters are on the board,
27:03they're nowhere near finished.
27:03Like, we have characters on the board,
27:05but we still have a long way to go with Poisonous Perfections.
27:08I mean, we don't see any painting, nothing.
27:10It's just pumpkin on sticks right now.
27:12Yeah, we can see what everything's made of.
27:13That is not the point.
27:15And also, in terms of carving and intricate pumpkin manipulation work,
27:20I think actually Margie's done a lot more.
27:22That is true.
27:23In terms of details.
27:24That's a good point.
27:25So, I started to spray his cape.
27:28I wanted, like, a rich purple,
27:30and it was coming out more like our aprons, burgundy,
27:32so I'm adding some blue to it.
27:33I'm going to see how that looks.
27:37This wizard, it's just a complete different level for Margie.
27:40I've never seen this from her.
27:41Yes, and I'm just so excited
27:43that we're seeing what Margie is capable of.
27:46This blood is the blood of the past competitors
27:48who have been eliminated,
27:49and I'm going to add to it very soon.
27:51Well, now's a good time for us to see what Margie's made of,
27:53because this is the finale.
27:55Yeah.
27:55So, if you're going to deliver,
27:56now's the time to do it.
27:58All right, I'm going to grab here.
27:59You grab there.
27:59Mm-hmm.
28:00I'm going to walk backwards.
28:01Holy smokes, he's heavy.
28:02I know.
28:03Watch your squatch cord.
28:04Mm-hmm.
28:05Good, we got to go around that cart.
28:07Where's he going?
28:08Well, he's going to...
28:10Okay, he's on.
28:11Yeah.
28:11Careful.
28:12He's only going to ring.
28:13All right, you're good.
28:15All right.
28:17You're my hero.
28:18All right.
28:18Let's go.
28:20All right, let's get him on,
28:21make sure he looks right.
28:22Just make sure he's facing that way.
28:24Is there any way to lift up his visor?
28:27Oh!
28:28What was that noise?
28:29Oh, my God.
28:29Oh, no.
28:31Oh, the wizard fell!
28:34No!
28:37No, no, no, no, no.
28:38They were in such good shape.
28:40Oh, my gosh.
28:41All right, where did he hinge?
28:43All right, push up.
28:44Push up.
28:45Push up.
28:45Just push up.
28:46Get him up.
28:47Get me some dowels right now.
28:48Wood dowels.
28:49Here we go.
28:50I've been in the crap before.
28:52Let's get out of it.
28:52What's going on with his head?
28:56Everything.
28:57Hold on, hold on.
28:59Don't stop yet.
29:01It ain't over till it's over.
29:02Just chill.
29:03Hold on.
29:04Hold tight.
29:05Don't let go yet.
29:05Don't let go yet.
29:06Don't let go yet.
29:07They have to be wicked careful, right?
29:09They've got one character that is not that steady on the left-hand side.
29:13They've got now their character on the right-hand side falling over.
29:16And don't forget, they have massive pieces of sugar in the middle of their entire design.
29:22It's so precarious.
29:23They've got to work quickly, but they've got to work with a lot of delicacy.
29:26Yeah.
29:26Snail, snail, snail, snail.
29:27You're fine.
29:28Don't be sorry.
29:29We're not done.
29:29All right, Margie.
29:31Let's see if he's...
29:33Okay.
29:34Well, let's put the chest plate over this, see what it looks like.
29:36Breathe.
29:37I'm going to skewer through the back and through the front, all right?
29:39All right, I'm going to hold it this way.
29:40Yep, you're good.
29:41Hold him.
29:43Hold it.
29:45We got him, Margie.
29:46Okay.
29:47That's in.
29:48Nils came to the rescue and pulled us all up and figured it out.
29:53Thank goodness.
29:53So now you've got to cut and cover, okay?
29:56Okay.
29:57Teams, you have 30 minutes left.
29:5830 minutes.
30:00Here we go.
30:00Let's go.
30:01You only have 30 minutes left.
30:03What color do you think I need to paint this in?
30:05Because remember, the purple was brown.
30:08Well, we need something quick.
30:10Could you paint my guy?
30:11Could you just do him in red?
30:12Coat it all in red, and I'll come in and do the highlights.
30:15I feel a little stressed for time.
30:17We are just all hands on deck to get this guy painted.
30:20Just be gentle and fast.
30:22We'll airbrush the spikes.
30:23Black on all the crevices.
30:25The red will be the base.
30:28Thanks for all your help.
30:29I'm making some magical splats out of isomalt right now.
30:35You know, like it's been thrown against the wall kind of shape.
30:39Jamie, we need you on tasting.
30:41Please.
30:41Yes.
30:42Yep.
30:42Excuse me.
30:44Coming in.
30:47Can we torch the nest?
30:49Oh, yeah.
30:50Hang on.
30:50So the effect that I'm going for with this nest is they get zapped and burned, but some of them escape.
30:58I'm going to get everything I need to put on at the end ready, all right?
31:01I'm working on wands.
31:02So hers is really nice, light, futuristic, and his is a little bit more oldie but goldie.
31:09All right.
31:10We'll go get some tasting elements.
31:12I'm making some flames to be sort of around where the tasting elements are because they're going to be spells that didn't quite make it or they got deflected.
31:18So they're little burn spots and fires that are on the ground.
31:22Heads up.
31:23I got to get in here.
31:24Hey.
31:25That's on.
31:26I have this bar of green and we wanted to put a magic meter next to our pod.
31:30So I'm going to bust out a magic meter as fast as humanly possible.
31:34Five minutes left.
31:35Five minutes.
31:36Here we go.
31:36Five minutes to go and Jamie's creating an entirely new piece for the design.
31:42Have you ever generated images using these AI generators?
31:46Yeah.
31:46Like you have to watch the clock as it tells you.
31:49It usually takes like a few seconds, sometimes longer depending on how complicated it is.
31:53In the world.
31:55Because she had the time to do it.
31:57Yeah.
31:58That's really smart.
31:59That's wild.
32:01All right.
32:01You're hitting him with silver?
32:03Yeah.
32:03Okay, cool.
32:04He's going to need silvers in his striation.
32:06Yeah.
32:07Right?
32:07So it gives more movement to his cape?
32:09Yeah.
32:09Let me know if you can see any more of the dowels.
32:12Hit the portal so it's got a little bit more oomph, okay?
32:15Okay.
32:16It just needs to be shiny.
32:17It's not shiny.
32:18I'll do it myself.
32:22We need some shading on your dude and the unicorn, please.
32:27This rubble is really cool, you guys.
32:29Okay, can we put rubble over there?
32:31I'll grab it.
32:33Ten.
32:34Just need to get everything on.
32:35Nine.
32:36Eight.
32:37I'm coming in.
32:38Seven.
32:39Six.
32:40Five.
32:42Four.
32:42Anything, anything, anything.
32:43Three.
32:44It's going.
32:44Two.
32:45One.
32:47Time's up.
32:48Well done, you guys.
32:50Congratulations.
32:51Yay.
32:53I love it.
32:55I love you girls.
32:57Good job, guys.
32:58That was hectic.
32:59That was bad.
33:00It's all right.
33:01Stuff happens.
33:02It looks terrifying.
33:03Okay.
33:04Why?
33:04I like the best way.
33:06Okay.
33:06He did good.
33:07He did good.
33:07He's super cool.
33:09Looks good, guys.
33:10For all the stuff that just went down, it ain't bad.
33:14I'm so scared.
33:17I'm so scared.
33:25Undercakers, tell us what magic you came up with.
33:28Sometimes old problems have modern solutions, and Aurora was the top of her class in mage
33:35school, but she was banished because she was doing things people didn't understand.
33:39She finds Dartholomew, the dark mage, putting the final touches on his spell to keep the
33:44forest in darkness forever.
33:45And Aurora takes it upon herself to stop him.
33:49Aurora is made of cake and chocolate.
33:52Dartholomew is all pumpkin.
33:53The evil creature coming through the portal is sugar.
33:57I've really enjoyed watching you as a team.
34:00You've grown so much.
34:02I love the sugar work that you have on the base there, Nils.
34:06Tanisha, every single challenge, you create something absolutely gorgeous with your painting,
34:11with your sculpting.
34:12Your palette knife skills are out of this world.
34:15However, one thing to note, with this backdrop, which is gorgeous, if you just switched the
34:22color and you created a darker border with a lighter center, your characters would pop
34:27a lot more.
34:28Because right now, your witch character is pink on top of pink, and then your wizard
34:32is the dark on top of dark.
34:34So in order for them to pop, we need higher contrast.
34:38I think that this is the strongest piece that you guys have created to date, and this is when
34:42you want to be peeking.
34:43Margie, I didn't know you could do this.
34:46Neither did I.
34:47There is so much texture.
34:49There's so much personality in the hunch of his shoulders, his cape kind of billowing behind
34:54him, and I just love seeing this kind of work out of you.
34:58This whole design has such great moodiness to it.
35:02I will say the one concern I have here is that, you know, the story.
35:05When you tell me the story, then I understand how this is a modern sorcery tale.
35:10But if you hadn't told me that, I don't think it comes across clear enough that this is sorcery
35:15happening in 2025.
35:22So what treat are we eating?
35:24So we got miso today.
35:26So we made miso creme brulees, and I put a little touch of lemon in there just to brighten
35:31the backside so it didn't sit too salty.
35:33Freaking abracadabra nails.
35:40Like, this is so good.
35:43You use the red miso, right, instead of the white miso?
35:45I think that was a brilliant move.
35:47There is just the right amount of, like, nutty, savory underbelly to this thing that then
35:54you balanced with sweetness.
35:56That savoriness is so present.
35:59I can almost taste the beans.
36:01So great job on that.
36:03The only thing.
36:04I don't think you torched all the sugar completely.
36:07So there's still a little bit of granulated sugar around the edges.
36:11So I taste the sandiness of the sugar.
36:14That's the only thing.
36:16Undercakers, well done.
36:19It's like freaking out.
36:22Look at that.
36:22I really don't process everything in my head of how cool it looks.
36:26That's good.
36:27And I would come back, and I'm like, I just think about it.
36:30Turn some lemons into lemonade, right?
36:32I think.
36:33Poisonous perfection abracadabra.
36:36Tell us what you made.
36:38In a world of modern witchcraft, SpellGBT is the newest magic-powered 3D prompt generator.
36:45However, unfortunately, on this day, it malfunctions, and all the prompts are turning into nightmare monsters.
36:53And poor Mike has to fight them off and contain them.
36:57So we have our centipede-inspired monster is made out of pumpkin.
37:02Mike over here is rice cereal treat and modeling chocolate, as well as our lovely mutated unicorn doll.
37:08All the spells and the wand and the glass sheet, that's all sugar work.
37:14The SpellGBT pod is also made out of cake.
37:18Welcome to the finale.
37:20You ladies really want this bad.
37:22And it just really shows because not only does it have a very interesting body,
37:28but you also segmented all the parts so that it looks like it's just not something you would find in nature.
37:35I also love, Karine, that you've added such dynamic movement to Mike,
37:40because he really looks like he is just fighting and trying to hold his position here.
37:45Jamie, you are all over this piece.
37:47I love the fact that you gave us broken sugar glass, and it looks super believable.
37:53I love your centipede monster.
37:55I think it has this sense of a little bit of, like, terror and fear,
37:59and things have gone oh so terribly wrong.
38:01So I love this idea of working AI into the craft as old as time sorcery.
38:08I think that you showed a lot of real intelligence in, at the last minute, shading the floor,
38:13throwing the rubble down, adding the lighted elements.
38:16I know that you're trying to convey chaos, but I'm still not fully convinced that it's not a teeny tiny bit too much.
38:22The last thing I'll say is that centipede does match your background.
38:27So it's not quite standing out enough from the backdrop.
38:30What sweet treats did you make for us?
38:32We have tahini.
38:34So I have made tahini profiteral spiders.
38:38It is a tahini mascarpone cream with cardamom, drizzled with a dark chocolate ganache,
38:45sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds, chopped up toasted and salted pistachios,
38:50and just an extra sprinkling of salt.
38:52Jamie, first of all, I think this is such a great idea.
38:55I'm really looking for, like, a strong sesame flavor.
38:58And because you used a mascarpone cheese with the tahini, the tahini is lost in the mascarpone.
39:06And I really want it to get that nuttiness and the slight chewiness of tahini.
39:10I get it.
39:12I mean, we're just tasting things differently, which happens sometimes.
39:16I think that this is such a wonderful dessert.
39:19I really love it.
39:19I loved that when I picked it up, I could smell cardamom immediately.
39:24But then I get the chew from the tahini in the filling.
39:28So I know we're having different experiences of it, but I'm very satisfied.
39:33Poisonous perfection.
39:34Great job.
39:35Great job, guys.
39:38Why was there a less filled one at the front?
39:40That's my fault.
39:41One was less filled than the others.
39:43Oh, I know.
39:44Exactly.
39:45Under Cakers and Poisonous Perfection, we asked you to deliver an epic spellbound display,
39:52and you did not disappoint.
39:55Each team had the judges entranced with your captivating design and tasting elements
40:00that had us all saying, which please?
40:06Under Cakers, we've seen such growth from you as a team, and this is definitely the best
40:12work we've seen all season.
40:15Nils, you took on the role of team leader, team fixer, and team cheerleader, and that
40:21really impressed us.
40:22And all three of you are amazing artists, and your attention to detail is magical.
40:29Unfortunately, some of that was lost because of color choices and a story that doesn't make
40:33sense.
40:36Poisonous Perfection, you have impressed us with your humor and polish week after week,
40:42and you deliver a clear story.
40:44Today, we got a true sense of that horror that we love here on Halloween Wars, but you
40:50over-delivered on the chaos.
40:52And while the centipede is beautiful, it blended into the brick background.
40:56In a championship battle where the teams are this talented, the difference can sometimes
41:03come down to the smallest detail, and which team pushes themselves to come up with something
41:08that has truly never been seen before.
41:11This was the toughest decision of the season.
41:14The winner of Halloween Wars and $25,000 is...
41:26Poisonous Perfection, congratulations!
41:38I am so thrilled and so proud of our team and what we produced.
41:50I bet they did it!
41:53Yes!
41:54I couldn't be more happy for Jamie, for Kareen and I on our first try.
41:59We couldn't have asked for more than this incredible experience we had.
42:03Jamie!
42:04Jamie!
42:05Jamie!
42:06Jamie!
42:07Jamie!
