00:00at the early stage so that's why my first recommendation stick with e4 d4 just you know
00:05don't try to sort of enlarge the scope of your of your investigation e4 if you want to be more open
00:12more aggressive more dynamic or d4 and by the way with this development of modern theory even after
00:18e4 you can play something quiet and positional like for instance you can play after knight f3
00:23knight c6 you can play bishop c4 d3 c3 so quiet italian uh or you can play
00:30quite you know aggressive openings after d4 for instance d4 say knight f6 c4 e6 knight c3 bishop b4
00:38it's in nimsu indian classical you can play f3 some very sharp moves um so that's why it's it's not
00:46all it's not all being decided by the first move what kind of position you want to to to reach uh
00:54but still as a general rule e4 is more aggressive it opens the game um almost immediately uh while d4
01:05or other moves like c4 knight f3 they lead to more positional game uh
01:12now i remember that i when i played e4
01:17uh almost exclusively until 1977 when i switched d4 and uh then again almost exclusively until i
01:29played antelikarpov i stick with d4 and i have to say that i believe that d4 was even more aggressive move
01:36because i actually found ways of playing fairly aggressive openings even for instance against the
01:43um uh um queen's gambit so i uh i managed to work out quite an aggressive system taking on f6 playing e3
01:56and then playing queen d2 and then long castle or queen c2
02:05you
