The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that Prime Minister Modi performed his Chhath Pooja and Surya Arghya at a “fake Yamuna” created at Vasudev Ghat. The row erupted after the BJP government showcased a cleaner, froth-free Yamuna this year, a sharp contrast to its condition during previous AAP administrations.

00:00We're getting some breaking news. Delhi Chhat showdown on Yamuna. Delhi witnesses cleaner Yamuna this time.
00:06Decades on, froth missing at Chhat Ghat this year, as you can see in the visuals.
00:12And in fact, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta leads the Chhat celebration in the national capital.
00:17Yamuna River witnessed from drain to divine this year, the great Yamuna cleansing.
00:23So, as you can see in the visuals, on your left is the Yamuna River during Amadmi Party's rule
00:29when the devotees used to pray in the Yamuna River amid froth.
00:34But this time, that froth was missing in the Yamuna River.
00:38In fact, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself led the celebrations, the Chhat Pooja celebrations, in the national capital.
00:45And today was the morning erg day. The Chhat Pooja has now ended.
00:49It was the fourth day today when the devotees prayed to the rising sun in the morning.
00:55And you can see in the visuals, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
00:58But what was different this year was that the froth in the Yamuna River was missing.
01:04Ten years of Amadmi Party's rule, but the pictures did not change.
01:08Year after year, we used to witness froth in the Yamuna River and the devotees praying in the middle of that froth.
01:14We are showing you the visuals also.
01:15On your left, you can see those visuals.
01:18The pictures did not change despite ten years of Amadmi Party's rule.
01:22But it's not even been a year since the BJP government came to power in the national capital.
01:26And the picture has already changed.
01:28This year, the froth in the Yamuna River was missing.
01:31And my colleague Amit Bharwaj is now joining us with more details on this.
01:40Amit, how different did the Chhat Pooja in the national capital, particularly from the point of view of Yamuna, look like this year?
01:47Well, Anjali, you saw that Chhat festivities are back on the track as far as the celebrations along the ghat of Yamuna is concerned.
01:59And across the national capital, the Delhi government had allowed and also set up, facilitated the, you know, putting up of the Chhat Ghats and Pooja Pandals around on the banks of Yamuna,
02:13which we had seen coming to a complete halt ever since the COVID era.
02:18The Bhartyajanta Party had often accused the earthquake government of not respecting the faith and beliefs of the Purwanchalis and not allowing them to offer their prayers and urges to, you know, Lord Sun and Chhatimaya for that matter.
02:39And the Amadli Party had often accused the lieutenant governor in the national capital of passing orders, banning any Chhat Pooja festivities and celebrations along the bank of Yamuna.
02:51So this time around, what we saw was construction of...
02:55We saw was construction of Chhat Ghats on the banks of Yamuna, Purwanchalis and Chhat Fratis coming there, celebrating it in full throttle.
03:04And also the political, you know, leadership such as Manos Tiwari of the Bhartyajanta Party himself offering the prayers and arga.
03:13And you also had Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visiting and traveling to each of these ghats along the Yamuna bank.
03:20You know, if you compare it to the Amadmi Party era, back then you would have nearly 1,000 artificial ghats and other ponds coming up in different parts of the national capital
03:31with the Chhat Pooja committee is being felicitated.
03:35But the major difference this time around is that Chhat was allowed along the banks of Yamuna.
03:42So you are and you were allowed to offer the arga in the real river rather than, you know, in the artificial ponds.
03:51Anjali.
03:51Right. In fact, not just allowed to pray and to pray to the sun god on the banks of Yamuna,
03:58but in fact, the stark difference was that the froth and foam was also missing.
04:02Year after year, we used to see that the devotees used to pray amid that froth in the Yamuna river.
04:08But the visuals that we're getting from this year, that froth is clearly missing.
04:11And now the questions are being raised that despite 10 years of ruling in the national capital,
04:15why did the Amadmi fail to address this issue?
04:23Well, Anjali, that will remain a very controversial issue in the national capital
04:28because what we have seen, the change this time around is obviously that there is no froth on the surface of river Yamuna
04:36and constantly the Delhi government and different agencies of the Delhi government have worked around the clock
04:42and in tandem as well to ensure that there is no froth or foam, you know, covering the surface of the Yamuna river,
04:51which often led to a situation where the pictures would look like that the devotees are offering prayers amidst cloud.
04:57But having said that, the Amadmi party has also accused the Delhi government and the Bharatiya Jinta party
05:03of using the same deformer which they used to use during their tenure
05:08and the BJP would, you know, come attacking them.
05:14You had Prave Svarma, the MP back then, you know, those visuals are still very much in the public memory
05:21where he was kind of being aggressive and also questioning the Delhi Jalpur officer who was using that deformer
05:30and similar deformers were used.
05:32Now, Amadmi party has also come up with allegations that fecal coliform, you know, content in Yamuna river
05:39is at very dangerous level.
05:41Now, such impurities or such pollution in river Yamuna will not be visible through your normal eyes
05:50because it's not something like froth or foam which will be visible,
05:54rather the water testing on water labs will give you results of as to how the pollution levels are at higher level.
06:00But that's politics on one side, other side the visuals certainly were pleasing this time around.
06:06Absolutely, Amad. Do stay with us as we're getting some more inputs on this story.
06:10So, Delhi chhat showdown on Yamuna and Delhi witnesses cleaner Yamuna this time
06:18and the politics over this also continues.
06:22Now, froth-free chhat in Yamuna has now irked the Amadmi party
06:27and the Amadmi party now claims that Prime Minister Modi cancels his chhat puja and surya irg
06:34at a fake Yamuna manufactured at Vasudevkhart.
06:37This is what the Amadmi party is claiming.
06:39Amadmi party goes on to say that BJP leadership seems quite embarrassed
06:43that their chief minister, Rekha Gupta, government's fraud on pollution
06:47has been exposed widely on social media.
06:49Amit Bhardwaj continues to stay with us.
06:51Amit, the Amadmi party has now attacked the BJP saying that Prime Minister Modi
06:56cancelled his chhat puja celebration and surya irg
06:58at what Amadmi party calls fake Yamuna ghar.
07:02Anjali, you know, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Vasudevkhart during the chhat festivities
07:13was expected to happen today.
07:15It was informed that he could be coming to offer the morning irg at Vasudevkhart,
07:20which is on the bank of Yamuna.
07:22It's on Yamuna itself.
07:24You know, when you go towards the ISBT, where we also saw a sort of flooding like a flood like situation
07:29this time around during the monsoon when the water level of Yamuna had increased.
07:34And that is why full throttle arrangements were done in this particular ghat as well
07:39in terms of security, cleaning up and setting up the protocol.
07:42The Amadmi party has been claiming that a wall was created between Yamuna and Vasudevkhart
07:49and clean water was put there.
07:50All right, Amit, thank you for those details and for that context.
07:52So, the war of words between the Amadmi party and the BJP over chhat puja continue.
07:59Cyclone Montha over west central bay of Bengal and it has moved north-north westwards
08:04with a speed of 15 km per hour during the past six hours,
08:08intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and lay centered at 5.30 a.m. today.
08:14About 190 km south-south east of Machli, Patnam,
08:17where the landfall is expected to occur in the evening.
08:20270 km south-south east of Kakinada,
08:24that is going to be the worst hit due to this cyclone.
08:27And 340 km south-south west of Rishakha, Patnam,
08:31where severe impact is going to be seen.
08:33550 km south-south west of Gopalpur in Odisha.
08:37So, that's the latest update that's coming in as far as the cyclone Montha is concerned.
08:42We're constantly tracking the movement of the cyclone.
08:45In fact, my colleague Abdul Bashir is now joining us from Vijaywada.
08:50He's at the Amitra Pradesh Disaster Management Control Center.
08:55Abdul, give us the latest details.
08:56How far is the cyclone currently?
08:59Well, as the time passes by, the cyclone is intensifying.
09:08It's turned into a severe cyclone.
09:09We are right now at the Disaster Management Authority of Andhra Pradesh.
09:13The control room here, where real-time monitoring is going on.
09:15As you can see, right behind me, the impact,
09:17the real-time monitoring of the cyclone at the moment,
09:20where the cyclone is right now at 190 km south-south west of Andhra Pradesh
09:27is what we are learning.
09:27Now, this monitoring is right now ongoing.
09:29The weather update on one screen.
09:31The other side, you have the whole rainfall update
09:33for the next five days,
09:35where most of the districts are set to receive
09:38very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall,
09:40which is Rikas, Kulam, Vizak, Sita, Alluri, Sitarama,
09:44and Ankapalli, Kakinada.
09:45Kakinada is also going to receive
09:47very extremely heavy rainfall.
09:48What we are learning is that
09:49Vishaka Patnam has already received
09:5121 centimeters of rainfall.
09:53This is the update at the 9 o'clock.
09:55As you can see here,
09:56that the storm Manta is west-centred way of Bengal,
10:00moved northward at the speed of 15 kilometers,
10:02and it is about 190 kilometers south-south-east of Machili Patnam
10:06and 270 kilometers south-south-east of Kakinada.
10:09And this is right now moving north-north-westwards
10:12is what the bulletin has to say.
10:14And as you can see here,
10:15the cameras here in every district,
10:17real-time monitoring as to what is the current situation
10:19at major junctions.
10:21Do stay with us.
10:22We also have my colleague Apoorva,
10:25who is reporting from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
10:27That is expected to be the worst hit
10:29due to this cyclone.
10:30Apoorva, give us the latest update.
10:31How does the situation look like now?
10:36Well, Anjali, as you can see,
10:39the cyclone Manta's effect has already started here in Kakinada.
10:43In fact, there is heavy torrential rainfall here.
10:46We are at Kakinada Beach,
10:48where you can clearly see just the impact of these rains
10:52and the wind that has been lashing across,
10:55you know, Kakinada as well.
10:57Not only here, but also in various districts
10:59between Machli Patnam and Kalinga Patnam as well.
11:03In the belt between Konasima and Vishaka Patnam
11:07is where cyclone Manta effect is likely to take,
11:11you know, its full effect as well.
11:13We are here in Kakinada Beach
11:15and the effect out here is simply something.
11:17In fact, what IMD is predicting is that
11:20as the hours pass by closer to us this evening,
11:24it's only going to get more rough.
11:26The sea is going to get more rough.
11:28The winds are going to be much more stronger as well.
11:32Well into the speed limit of 90 kmph
11:35to up to 110 kmph.
11:37That's the speed that the cyclone Manta effect is said to be as well.
11:42IMD is also going to be making an unfinished garment.
11:45I know it seems to be the setting stop
11:47also situated on town.
11:50Special loader officers have been deployed
11:52across 90 districts
11:54right from the coastal town of Nellul
11:57into the coastal town of Sivakulam as well.
12:00You can see just how harsh the sea is right now
12:04and what we are expecting is towards later this evening
12:08it's only going to be even more rough as well.
12:11You know, in across various districts here in Andhra Pradesh,
12:15beaches have been shut off for the public as well.
12:19People have been advised to stay indoors.
12:22Healthline numbers that have been given for people
12:25to ensure that those who are in low-lying areas,
12:29they can be evacuated at the earliest as well.
12:32All measures, precautionary measures have been taken
12:36by the Finnish government to ensure
12:38that people's safety is at most priority as well.
12:42From local officers who are visiting every low-lying area
12:46or ground to NDRF, NDRF officials
12:49who have been, you know, kept to us.
12:52Yes, as well, this is the condition that you can see.
12:56The speed is rough.
12:57So, with the not continuously lashing
12:59and cyclone mocha effect is still continuing
13:03more stronger as ours passed by.
13:06Anjali.
13:07Right, Apoorva.
13:08So, impact, even before the cyclone made its landfall,
13:12it is expected to make its landfall in the evening.
13:14The impact is already being seen in Kakinara
13:16as my colleague Apoorva is getting us all the details
13:18right from the ground.
13:19Apoorva, is the evacuation operation over?
13:22Has everybody been evacuated from the coastal areas?
13:29Well, so far, several publics who have been living
13:32in low-lying areas, they have been, in fact,
13:35evacuated from here as well.
13:37What we are getting to learn is that, you know,
13:41there have been NDRF, SDRF teams who have been deployed
13:45in the regions to ensure that, you know,
13:48people living in those low-lying areas,
13:50they are evacuated at the earliest as well.
13:53And not only that, between, like I mentioned,
13:56it means that most of them know
13:57very easy to be Shangapattam and Kalikapattam
14:01that is likely to be, you know,
14:03much different than in Kalikapattam
14:05where the landfall is excellent.
14:07And then near Kakinara, where I am currently,
14:10I am now, you know, people have been evacuated as well.
14:13The winds that you can clearly see, you know,
14:16it has not only, you know, been very strong,
14:20but also you can see the entire area
14:23has been absolutely, you know, put on block as well.
14:27Officials who have been kept to be on standby,
14:30all of this to ensure that public safety
14:33is the utmost priority.
14:34In fact, the Andhra Pradesh APSCR,
14:37they are also on ground,
14:39they are also ensuring that all reef camps
14:43that have been set up,
14:44they have food, water, and other amenities
14:47that have also been stocked up
14:49in those areas for the next three days.
14:52Not only that, also, you know,
14:54there is medical facility,
14:56medical camps that have been provided
14:58in these areas where it is likely
15:00that over the next 24 to 48 hours,
15:04as Andhra Pradesh witnesses
15:06the full effect of cyclone monta,
15:08which is, the state is prepared in all aspects
15:11to overcome this cyclone.
15:15Absolutely, Apoorva.
15:16And how long is the cyclone expected
15:18to be there in Andhra Pradesh?
15:20How long will it take for it to cross Andhra Pradesh?
15:23Well, what we are learning currently
15:30is that the cyclone is expected to take this landfall
15:34to work later this evening
15:37and well into the night as well.
15:38That's what we are getting to learn
15:40from IMP officials
15:42and that it is going to get
15:44take over three to four hours
15:46those complete landfall
15:47and the passing of cyclone monta
15:49to completely be dispersed.
15:52But the, you know,
15:53later towards the eating and well into the night,
15:56the three to four hours
15:58is definitely going to be
15:59extreme heavy rainfall here
16:02and across various districts
16:04in the coastal Andhra Pradesh
16:05as well as heavy winds
16:08that the state will witness as well.
16:11The coastal towns of Rakinada,
16:13Konasima and Yushaka Patsum
16:16they will witness heavy rains
16:17as well as, you know,
16:19rock seas here as well.
16:21Fishermen have been advised
16:22not to venture out into the sea
16:24going for some gushing winds
16:26but you can see as well
16:27over the next 24 to 48 hours
16:30it is going to be an absolute,
16:33you know, a chaos
16:34that will be here
16:35as the cyclone monta's fury
16:37continues to go on as well.
16:38We are expecting to see
16:40that within the next 24 to 48 hours
16:43once the cyclone passes
16:45it is going to, you know,
16:47take some time for normalcy
16:49to get back
16:50but until then
16:51officials on ground
16:52are, you know,
16:54staying there
16:54to ensure that public
16:56are staying indoors,
16:58staying safe
16:58and more importantly
17:00should help be needed
17:01by any more of the people there.
17:04There are health care numbers
17:05that they can reach out to
17:06and that there will be officials
17:08who will go ahead
17:10and also help them
17:11during this time
17:12as cyclone
17:13probably continues to go ahead
17:15and get stronger.
17:16All right, Apoorva,
17:18do stay with us
17:19and please stay safe.
17:20Also take a look
17:21at the situation
17:22in Odisha's Gopalpur.
17:24My colleague Tapasen Gupta
17:25gets us this report.
17:30Andhra Pradesh and Odisha
17:31is racing
17:32for severe cyclonic storm,
17:35Montha.
17:35We are standing
17:36at Gopalpur beach
17:38and this beach
17:38remains to be
17:39absolutely desolate
17:40since yesterday.
17:42People have not been allowed
17:44to come anywhere
17:44close to the beach.
17:45You can see
17:46surges in the sea
17:47and high tides
17:48could do witness
17:49and its situation
17:50will only aggravate
17:51as we move closer
17:53to the landfall time.
17:54It is expected
17:55that by today evening
17:57or late evening
17:58the landfall will occur
17:59in Machlipatnam
18:01in Andhra Pradesh
18:02but it will also have
18:03its impact
18:04here in Gopalpur
18:05and this will also
18:06be affected.
18:07So keeping that in mind
18:08all possible
18:09measures have been
18:12taken by the authorities.
18:13The SDRF,
18:14the NDRF
18:15have been kept.
18:15Red warning
18:16is issued
18:17for the district
18:17of Ganjav,
18:19Gajpati,
18:20Raya Gada,
18:20Khoraput,
18:21Malkanagir,

18:40Manta.
18:40Apoorva.
18:41How much damage
18:42is this cyclone
18:43expected
18:44to cause
18:46Kakinada?
18:47Well, in fact,

18:53as you can see
18:54here,
18:55it is complete chaos
18:56as well.

19:13in these coastal
19:14regions
19:15that I have mentioned
19:16and the landfall
19:17is expected
19:18to take place
19:20between

19:45The rainfall
19:45here has been
19:47constantly
19:48there since
19:48late last night
19:49and what we are
