Being a farmer in regional Queensland is nothing like McLeod’s Daughters, Beck Smith said. Her dog Duke has been crowned Australia’s hardest-working dog in the 2025 Cobber Challenge, covering 556km across the three-week competition. Footage supplied by the Cobber Challenge

00:00it's not a very forgiving lifestyle and um you know it's definitely not a mcleod's daughter so

00:05if you ever see mcleod's daughters it's a complete opposite to that and that's probably the best way

00:09to sum it up i'm beck smith and this is evangie station near stonehenge to be honest i am still

00:15um trying to sink in and let it like be real um i'm blown away because from the get-go i thought

00:22duke and i were just the ring-ins living on my own i definitely wouldn't be able to do half things

00:26that i do do like for example with duke um the end of last year when it was drought and i had a um

00:34unwell bull and i had to bring him into home which was only about 20 kilometers and it should have

00:40only taken a few hours in a straight line but because of the thick scrub um for eight hours

00:45duke was with me and i had to obviously i couldn't just go on a straight line i'd have to detail around

00:50pick a path through all the thick scrub and duke stuck with the bull and then if i couldn't find

00:55them duke would come back to me and then lead me back to the bull
