00:00Hello everyone, I'm Matt from the Evil Empire Studio and we have recently picked up the
00:04development of Brotato. We started working on the game about three months ago, and we made our first
00:08addition to the game by adding a new enemy, the Gobbler, back in late September. Now we're back
00:13with a much bigger piece of content, the New Dawn update. Let's not waste a second and dive into it.
00:22Even though our focus this time was on quality of life changes, we still wanted this update to have
00:26a little bit of meat on it, so we added six items and one weapon. One item, fresh meat, is already
00:32unlocked, but the others must be unlocked with an in-game achievement. Here is the list of items
00:37with their challenges. Now those should give you some new things to discover while you check out
00:47the new additions, and one of these is the ban system. This is something that we've seen wanted
00:53by many, so we're taking a shot at it. You can now ban up to eight items in the shop during your run.
00:59We've decided not to include weapons in the ban. During closed testing, banning weapons resulted
01:04in some pretty OP outcomes, because it gives you way too much control over the pool of possible
01:09options in the shop. So try it out and tell us what you think. You can now have three saves in Brotato.
01:16You can copy your progress onto another profile or reset the save. You can also unlock every item,
01:22character and weapon on a save profile, but this will deactivate the earning of achievements,
01:26so you'll still have to get them the hard way. This system allows you to have a fresh save and
01:32keep your old one. Copy your ongoing profile to go endless while starting a run 20 on another profile,
01:37lend Brotato to your annoying sibling with different progression and more.
01:42The codex gathers the progress menu and information about items, weapons and enemies. Think of it as a
01:47wiki in the game with additional info, like how many times you killed a specific alien and more.
01:55We also wanted to improve readability and make it easier to associate which items and characters
01:59work well with which stats. This way you can now make quicker decisions. If it's not to your liking,
02:05then this can be deactivated in the accessibility menu by turning off show effects icons. The choice is
02:11yours. Moving on to visuals, and we've added a lot of visual elements that fall into different categories.
02:17The chest and level up icons are merged when you gain more than 4 during a wave. Curse and flame
02:22VFX have been tweaked. We've added animations for the beginning and end of a run. Don't worry,
02:27this animation does not make you use any time if speedruns are your thing. And finally we've added a
02:32bunch of options for you to change the colours displayed in the game. You can find all of that in
02:36the accessibility menu. Finally, we are happy to share that Brotato is now supported on Mac and Linux,
02:42so it can now be played by even more people. Woohoo! And that's it for this first update by us at Evil
02:48Empire. Thank you to Blobfish Games for their trust, and we hope you appreciate this update,
02:53because, if you like this one, we have many more to come.
02:59And if you feel you have unanswered questions, we recently did a Q&A about our collaboration with
03:03Blobfish Games, and you can find the link for that in the pinned comment. Come tell us your
03:07thoughts on the official Discord, the official subreddit, or the Steam discussion boards,
03:11or just leave a comment here. This is Matt, signing out.
