00:00This government was not willing, I was not willing,
00:03to tolerate a situation in Britain's steel capacity
00:06was fundamentally undermined.
00:09And nor was I willing to see yet another working-class community
00:13lose its pride, lose the prosperity,
00:17lose the dignity that industry provides.
00:20So we chose to intervene,
00:22to save British steel and the jobs that go with it.
00:25The Tories would not back British steel
00:27and they wouldn't back Britain's steel workers
00:29but this Labour government is unequivocal.
00:33There must be a future, there will be a future
00:36for steel forged here on British soil.
00:39We're putting Britain first,
00:42empowering us to prioritise British steel ships
00:45and British forged steel.
00:47Strengthening our national economic security
00:50and creating good manufacturing jobs here in Britain.
00:55Because where things are made
00:57and who makes them does matter.
01:00And as we build those new railways and new roads,
01:04the new power stations and new runways
01:06for this generation and the next,
01:09we want the security and the good unionised jobs
01:12that come from making things here in Britain.
01:15I promised you we'd run the economy differently.
01:19The Tories didn't do it and they still don't get it,
01:22but Labour does.
01:23So don't let anyone ever tell you
01:25that there's no difference between a Labour government
01:27and a Conservative government.
