00:00Let's ask Matt Bloxham, Senior Analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence, whether Elon is firmly back in the driver's seat.
00:07Matt, what do you reckon?
00:10Yeah, I mean, I think he's definitely in the driver's seat.
00:12I guess it's a question whether he ever left it.
00:14But I think the question for shareholders right now is whether he's definitely got both eyes firmly on the road ahead for Tesla
00:20and not distracted by other projects, not least SpaceX and his political ambitions.
00:26Obviously, we've heard some pressure recently from shareholders that the board needs to kind of apply more pressure to Elon to be much more focused on Tesla.
00:35And there's even been some suggestions that maybe it's time for him to step down as CEO.
00:39And obviously, that's worked quite well for SpaceX.
00:41So, yeah, you know, definitely you can see his influence coming very much back to Tesla.
00:46And, you know, they're really diversifying away from just the cars into robo-taxes and beyond.
00:51So, I think there's going to be a lot of interesting announcements in the coming months to do with Tesla as he kind of gets back into that kind of regular mode of operation.
01:02Yeah, a pretty bumpy ride for the stock price so far this year.
01:05And similarly, you've had pretty spotty demand for Apple over the past two years.
01:10And we know that they're planning this ambitious pipeline of new products for release in the first half of next year.
01:16Do you think that these models are really going to be all that different, Matt?
01:21I think that certainly the kind of the lineup they've got for next year, which is kind of low-end iPad and the cheap iPhone, the 17e, maybe not that different, more incremental product developments.
01:36Obviously, I think that the big focus is really on the full launch, which is really the spotlight for the new iPhone 17, which I think is going to be a bit more of a significant launch.
01:46And, you know, there's talk of the iPhone Air, a kind of very thin version of the product.
01:51So I think to some degree, you know, they want to sensibly phase their products and really kind of give the iPhone 17 enough kind of its own space, if you like, to kind of really drive sales in the near term and then balance that out with other products into next year.
02:09And also, you've got the whole tariff situation, which continues to be very uncertain.
02:12And I think with some of these products, you know, there's perhaps a question mark for them about where can they price these or where should they price these, depending on how much the tariffs end up being and when they kick in.
02:23So I think there's certainly some uncertainty there for Apple in terms of their pricing strategy for some of these products in the next 12 months.
