00:04The CDC is making its most significant shift in vaccine policy since the pandemic,

00:10formally endorsing a case-by-case approach to COVID shots.

00:14The agency signed off on changes recommended by its Vaccine Advisory Committee,

00:19now led by members appointed by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

00:23Under the new guidelines, COVID vaccination is no longer a blanket recommendation.

00:28Instead, doctors and patients are urged to make individual decisions based on risks and benefits.

00:36The CDC also updated guidance for children, saying toddlers should now get a separate chickenpox shot,

00:42not the combined MMRV vaccine, which can slightly raise the risk of fever-related seizures.

00:49The agency says the goal is to restore trust and informed consent in vaccine policy.

00:54But some medical groups are warning the changes could add confusion

00:57and fuel to people's hesitancy to get a vaccine.
