00:11The New York Times reports that a 155-millimeter shell prematurely detonated Saturday,

00:17sending shrapnel onto highway patrol vehicles parked on a closed ramp along Interstate 5 in Oceanside, California.

00:24The officers were part of Vice President J.D. Vance's security detail.

00:28No one was hurt. Governor Gavin Newsom had ordered a 17-mile stretch of the freeway shut down

00:34after objecting to the plan to fire over it, calling the move reckless.
