00:00Hello and welcome to this national James Weather update for Monday.
00:04We have got a cold outbreak that is moving across the southeast of the country.
00:08You can see just by all of this speckled cloud that's making it right up into southern Victoria,
00:13there are snow to low levels in southeastern parts of Tasmania
00:16and the cold air is going to slowly make its way up the east coast there.
00:20Elsewhere, the energy from this one will drive a system that is going to do some big things
00:25through Queensland and the northern parts of New South Wales over the next couple of days.
00:28Then we're going to see the next rain system kick off over in the west.
00:32Today, the heat is sort of confined here.
00:35Now, this is the heat wave, so day after day.
00:38Yes, we're getting a lot of heat that is down in southeast Queensland,
00:41but it's also about to disappear.
00:43All right, let's have a look day by day what to expect.
00:45Here we have Monday the 27th.
00:47We've still got all of this rain moving across the southeast and through here,
00:50but here is the next weather system building over the interior, over Queensland.
00:54Let's watch this go day by day into Tuesday.
00:57Here over Queensland, the majority of it, and the northern half of New South Wales
01:01just into the centre part there, but not coming any further south.
01:04We've got some warmth that is heading down into the southwest of the country.
01:07You can see by the red and purple lines there, and the cool air is lingering over the southeast,
01:13but not as bitter as what it was during the day on Monday.
01:16OK, so here is all of our big rain signal as we move through Tuesday into Wednesday.
01:22Here it is, mainly a coastal fixture and just into the ranges and just into that part on the other side there,
01:27but coastal and ranges by Wednesday.
01:30OK, here is the heat that is coming down there, and then there is a cool change.
01:33So the cool change is moving into the southwest.
01:36Let's watch this next one kick off.
01:38So here we have the heat coming down as we go through Thursday.
01:41Here is the start of the next little rain system coming through that moves across as we go through the day on Friday.
01:47This one is looking quite interesting at this stage,
01:50but my feeling is it's going to taper off a bit before it actually gets to the southeast of the country at the end of the week.
01:56So watch for that downgrade to happen.
01:57Otherwise, we go into a bit of a break in through here.
02:00Next warmth is over in the west, and here is our next feed of moisture coming in from the north.
02:05Let's watch this one.
02:06So this is what could happen.
02:08It's nearly a full week away, so there may be some movement as we approach,
02:12but this is the guidance as it stands right now.
02:14Here's the feed.
02:15Here's the energy.
02:16Let's watch those two interact.
02:18As you go through Sunday, starting to move across South Australia into the western parts of Victoria,
02:23western parts of New South Wales.
02:25Into Monday, it may hold back in through here, or it may come right on through.
02:30It may zoom out ahead into Queensland.
02:32But here is the potential for our next major rain system to come through.
02:36So this is Sunday, Monday, and then potentially into Tuesday.
02:40That's Cup Day.
02:41Yes, there might be some wet weather there.
02:43The timing of this is likely to change, but do be aware that there is something big coming at the early part of next week.
02:49OK, what might that actually add up to?
02:52Some nice falls in the southeast.
02:54This is to the end of Monday night as it stands now.
02:56Most of the heavier falls are a coastal thing for Queensland.
02:59There could be some big falls in there.
03:01And of course, if you're underneath a thunderstorm, then yes, heavy rain.
03:03In north-eastern parts of New South Wales, coast a little bit inland, but otherwise the lighter falls are running in through here.
03:10And the next weather system to come down and move across the southeast.
03:13Otherwise, again, not much happening in the southwest.
03:16As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
