00:00This video was filmed by a UN team that had rare access to the north of the Gaza Strip.
00:22It shows the once vibrant seafront after a year of Israeli bombing,
00:26now in ruins, emptied of its population.
00:30Before the war, northern Gaza had a population of 500,000 people.
00:34A year later, the UN estimates there are just 70,000.
00:38Northern Gaza was the first part of the territory that Israel bombed after Hamas' surprise attack on October 7th, 2023.
00:46Israel resumed its attacks on the north this October, ordering thousands of residents to flee the densely populated Jabaliyah camp.
00:54The Israeli army has been besieging the camp ever since.
00:58A collective of local journalists sent France 34 interviews with residents forced to flee the camp.
01:05It was from the 7th of the afternoon to the 7th of the morning.
01:08It was a long time to get out of the day.
01:09Of course, God bless you.
01:11We were all five young people, in Gaza.
01:13We were all in Gaza.
01:13We were all in the same place.
01:14We were all in the same place.
01:15From the morning, we had a man who ran away.
01:17We didn't run away.
01:18We wouldn't run away.
01:19They came out of Gaza.
01:20The Israeli army says the evacuations in Gaza are intended for the safety of the territory's
01:42residents while military operations are underway.
01:45But the NGO Human Rights Watch says that in many cases, the evacuations are intended to
01:50be permanent and amount to mass forcible transfers which are banned by the Geneva Conventions.
01:57By the end of October, Israel had destroyed or damaged nearly 70% of the buildings in
02:02northern Gaza, according to researchers in the U.S.
02:06The destruction is visible, entire neighborhoods flattened, here in the city of Beit Lahia,
02:12near the border with Israel.
02:14Or in Jabalia during the Israeli offensive in October.
02:19Satellite images show the army is building a road across northern Gaza.
02:24Some analysts say it might become a new buffer zone in the Gaza Strip.
02:28In its report, Human Rights Watch documented the creation of such buffer zones across Gaza,
02:34saying the Israeli army systematically razed land and buildings along the roads they have
02:38built to enter Gaza, including the access road to the Jabalia camp.
02:43Other analysts like Brian Carter say the Israeli military will be under pressure to explain
02:48the level of destruction once the fighting ends.
02:52That's going to present a serious problem for the Israelis, because as this war, when this
02:56war winds down and foreign journalists can go back into the Gaza Strip, there is going to
03:02be a big kind of public relations problem that the Israelis are going to face, because they
03:10need to explain, you know, A, why this destruction took place, and B, how it's going to get repaired.
03:20Senior Israeli commander Brigadier General Itzik Cohen reportedly told an off-the-record press
03:25briefing on November 5th, there will be, quote, no return for any residents of northern Gaza.
03:31The Israeli army said his remark was taken out of context and did not reflect the army's objectives.
03:36These civilians are caught in the crossfire between separatist militants in southeastern Iran and
03:50Iran's security forces. At the end of the day, four of the militants were dead and three members
03:56of the security forces. The separatist group is called Jaish-ul-Adul, or Army of Justice. Sunni Muslims,
04:09they are fighting for the independence of the Iranian province of Sistan and Balochistan.
04:14The group is listed as a terrorist organization, not just by Iran, but by Russia, Pakistan, China,
04:20and the U.S. The latest wave of attacks started on September 27th in the town of Suran, with one
04:27member of Iran's security forces killed. Five days later, the security forces responded in Dashtari
04:33County, killing one member of Jaish-ul-Adul. While neither side has published total casualty figures,
04:39the Front's 24 observers has documented at least 18 clashes since late September, with at least 32
04:45members of the Iranian security forces killed and 40 members of Jaish-ul-Adul. We spoke to a
04:52resident of the province who supports Jaish-ul-Adul's aims but not their use of violence. We're hiding
04:57his name and voicing his account for security reasons.
05:00Sistan and Balochistan is home to the Baloch minority. Sunni Muslims
05:30in predominantly Shi'a, Iran. They have long struggled with poverty and underdevelopment,
05:35and there are frequent demonstrations against the regime. We spoke to another resident of the
05:39province who says the violence is not productive.
05:42This is true that the regime has caused the violence against the violence against the government.
05:48The regime has caused the violence against the violence against the government.
05:52The regime has caused the violence against the violence against the government.
05:54But this is the reality that many people are killed, because the victims of the
06:14between the latin groups will lead to them.
