00:00NFL football is back, so let's get you guys ready for the odds for Thursday's Hall of Fame game between the Chargers and Lions

00:07with our New York Post betting analyst, Eric Richter.

00:10His nickname is E. Richter, but he'll get you E. Richter.

00:14What's happening, my man? NFL football is here, baby.

00:17Oh, I love it. Yeah, dude, we're back. I mean, how good does it feel to be back?

00:21We're talking again, doing a little NFL.

00:23I mean, hey, it's the Hall of Fame game, but I'm looking forward to some NFL players hitting that field.

00:28I know you are, too. Absolutely, man.

00:31Too much baseball talk going on up around here up in New York.

00:34It's time to let the real athletes hit the gridiron, and when they do,

00:37Trey Lance is going to get the start at quarterback for the Chargers,

00:41and the Lions are going to go with Hendon Hooker and Kalen Allen,

00:44who will be available under center for them.

00:47I know it's not Justin Herbert versus Jarrett Goff, but a lot of people are excited for this game tonight.

00:53You've got the bets.

00:55What's the bets you like to kick off preseason action this year?

00:59So, yeah, I'm not going to come up here and say that Trey Lance is the former number three overall pick.

01:04He has all this potential in the world.

01:06I'm not going to come in here and sit here and say that he ain't that guy anymore.

01:09I think we all understand that, but he does have a ton to play for today.

01:13He's looking for a backup role somewhere.

01:14He's going to get most of the snaps here tonight.

01:17There is some sort of prospect pedigree that you can lean into potentially.

01:20You know, he ran the ball a lot when he was with the San Francisco 49ers.

01:24But for me, my bet is going to be the Chargers to just throw one passing touchdown for the whole game.

01:29Doesn't matter who the quarterback is.

01:31It could be, you know, Trey Lance, like you said.

01:33It could be anybody.

01:34But at minus 130, that's where I'm going to over under is 33 and a half.

01:38So unless you're expecting a heavy run approach, which is possible, you know, Jim Harbaugh versus Dan Campbell,

01:43they could just get into a slugfest.

01:44But for me, I'm going to go with a passing touchdown for the Los Angeles Chargers as my first bet.

01:51What else you got for us?

01:53Should I go into the second bet?

01:53Yeah, absolutely.

01:54The floor is yours, sir.

01:56Second bet.

01:57We're going to go and former draft pick for the Chargers.

02:01Not a former draft pick.

02:02A draft pick for the Chargers last year.

02:03Second year pro, Kamal Vidal.

02:06He has, I mean, he's on the bubble to be cut at this point.

02:10O'Marion Hampton is the, you know, first round pick.

02:12He's, you know, expected to be the bell cow.

02:16Some people are even saying he might play in this game.

02:18That would surprise me, quite frankly.

02:19I don't think, I think you get maximum one drive.

02:21So, you know, Hampton's over under is 16 and a half.

02:25I'm going to take over 21 and a half for Kamal Vidal, his rushing prop.

02:30Vidal came in with a lot of hype.

02:32If you remember this time last year, a lot of people, fantasy leagues and Jim Harbaugh was talking them up in preseason.

02:38I think that Vidal, actually, if he, you know, performs poorly through the preseason, that might be his career.

02:46I mean, he needs a show out here.

02:48He might get cut anyway because they have J.K. Dobbins.

02:51Well, they formerly had J.K. Dobbins, but now they have Hampton.

02:53He might get outright cut.

02:55And they have, you know, Raheem Sanders as well, another rookie.

02:59So, they really loaded up at the running back position.

03:01And for me, I think that Vidal has a lot to prove and potentially a lot to play for.

03:06And I would expect him to get a lot of work as well.

03:07So, give me over 21 and a half for Vidal.

03:10So, you're betting on the guys that need it.

03:12You're betting on the guys that need to come out and have themselves a strong showing.

03:16Even though it's the first preseason game of the year, you still want to put your best foot forward going into the season,

03:22especially going into that first round of cuts and then that, you know, that second round of cuts.

03:27So, you're betting on the guys like, hey, man, go on out there and do your thing, man.

03:30Because, hey, even if you don't make me money, you may not be making any money this season.

03:35You might do it.

03:36We're all on the same team here.

03:37And you'll notice that there's a lot of prospect pedigree with those two guys.

03:40Like, Vidal was not a late round pick.

03:43And obviously, Trey Lance, the first round pick, obviously, the injuries kind of, you know, sidetracked Lance's career.

03:47But there's prospect pedigree there.

03:49There's talent somewhere in there.

03:50Hopefully, Jim Harbaugh can kind of bring it out of them, you know, and get them an opportunity either there or somewhere else.
