00:00Hi, my name is Olivia Goncalves, I'm 13 and I'm trying to grow in the game of
00:04field hockey on Long Island. Growing up it was tough for you to find a really
00:08competitive program here. What did you end up doing to play competitively? I
00:12ended up going to my club AGH and I feel like I've grown a lot and I've
00:16played at a much more elite level. Where is AGH? In Greenwich, Connecticut.
00:20Sometimes like I have to do my homework in the car or like stay up late after my
00:24practices. Well like it's been like a struggle to like fit everything in but
00:28like I've managed to do it. My parents are committed to taking me and it's been a
00:32great experience so far. I've been doing AGH for about two and a half years so far
00:36and I'm really enjoying it. I play middle school field hockey so after my
00:40middle school practices sometimes I have to either leave early or find some time
00:44to like make my AGH practices. So I try to balance my academics and my field hockey
00:51play. It took a big effort like to like get there and sometimes I have some
00:57teammates asking like how I come from Long Island. I'm trying to eventually make
01:01it to college for field hockey and you need to have good grades before and I'm
01:07also trying to make sure that girls play at a younger age in Long Island. In
01:13order to grow the game on Long Island I've been doing some some trainings.
01:17I've been donating sticks then I've been introducing field hockey to girls first
01:24through fifth grade and I made a strong effort to do that and I also created a
01:29training video for for Stratford School to introduce field hockey to girls.
01:35Stratford School is a local elementary school here and I've also created a
01:40website for parents employers to have easier access.
