"don't hassle, play." a real hidden gem here. a collection of demo quality recordings ranging from pysch-folky guitar pop to freakish (but tasty) prog-jazz improv. u.s blues is a personal highlight, the deranged vocals bordering on spoken word paired with the saxophone spasms and the instrumental meltdown at the end is visceral as hell. fruk juices also fucks, love the banter.dietlemoncoke Mar 05 2021
The only album by the rock band from Queens (New York City). There were at least three different prog/psych rock bands active in the late 1960's and the 1970's who were called Octopus. There was one in the UK and one in Germany. The Octopus from the UK released just one album but the German band recorded several. The US also had a band called Octopus and this band was the first of those three to release an album.
This S/T record from 1969 is a mix of early prog rock, bluesy and jazzy elements and some psychedelia. The band does a pretty good work with their instruments and the compositions are quite nice. Nothing extraordinary or unique but pretty enjoyable. The album cover is pretty sweet. I've always liked it.CooperBolan Nov 02 2015
