00:00Is there a difference in how the society receives it, beauty and aging?
00:05There's definitely a big difference, I think, societally-wise, what people think.
00:12Well, people believe that aging cannot include beauty, that beauty is somehow singular to youth.
00:20And I find that, I keep trying to separate the two, because I feel like when you're young,
00:27and yes, of course, you're beautiful in a very sort of shiny, obvious way, but to me, that's pretty.
00:32It's pretty. It attracts your attention. It's attractive.
00:37But beauty, real beauty, that's what we have, because that's the beauty of having lived,
00:43of wisdom, of having learned things, of knowing who we are, being confident.
00:51Being older is so much more beautiful than youth.
00:57So, we're just walking down the street, and my gaze falls upon this very brightly colored small poster.
01:13This one, right here.
01:17Maybe sidle up to that? Maybe sidle up to it?
01:21I don't think I look much like that anymore.
01:24This is me at, like, 15.
01:27Unbelievable.
01:29Weird.
01:33My bilateral hip replacement journey.
01:37Yep, I have to do both.
01:39This is right after surgery, and this is about two hours after surgery.
01:43Most painful part, poor Jeff, and my IV.
01:48This is about three hours after surgery.
01:52Had to get up and walk.
01:56Is my butt showing?
01:58No.
01:58And this is about three days after I got back home.
02:17Not bad, and much less painful.
02:19And this is about a week later after I came home.
02:28Six weeks later, I'm in Florida shooting for Sports Illustrated.
02:32Six months later, I'm on the road in Portugal biking for 30 miles a day.
02:38Nine months later, I am walking the runway for the first time in 40 years.
02:43And then, about 10 months later, I get to dance at my son's wedding.
02:53What a dream.
03:03A year later, signed with Estee Lauder.
03:07Leveled up to level 60.
03:09Thank you, Dr. Roy Davidovich, for making me regain my stride.
03:16I've been thinking about relationships a lot today.
03:19I think part of that is because my love is away and I miss him.
03:24And partly, it's friends that needed a shoulder to cry on.
03:29Having been through two relationships,
03:33in which my biggest fear, abandonment, came true in both,
03:37one very slowly, kind of like the boiling frog,
03:43and the other one, like a decapitation really,
03:49has made me ponder the courage,
03:54the strength that it takes to open yourself up again
03:57when you've been crushed.
04:01Somebody said to me, just the other day,
04:06commented on how brave I was
04:08for being so public about my new relationship.
04:14Brave or stupid?
04:18Possibly both.
04:20Possibly one or the other.
04:21But I thought about that and I thought,
04:26you know,
04:27being a fool,
04:29which is what I would be if
04:30this doesn't work out
04:32and, you know,
04:33I've been going on about how great my love life is.
04:37Well,
04:38being a fool is not fatal.
04:43Real courage
04:45is not
04:47whether or not you dare to be a fool.
04:50It's
04:52whether or not you dare
04:53to open yourself up
04:55to love again.
04:58That's where true courage lies.
05:02It's morning.
05:04I'm in the hotel room
05:05and I'm slightly bored.
05:06And so I thought,
05:08how about I post a video
05:09of myself
05:10the way I really look.
05:12Obviously, I'm a model.
05:13I know how to
05:14make things look good.
05:16I'm really good at thinking things.
05:18But I'm going to pick this one.
05:20Okay?
05:20This is what I really look like.
05:23Here I am.
05:27Never liked my thighs.
05:29My stomach
05:29looks good in this light,
05:31especially when you give it
05:32a little side light.
05:33Abs look great.
05:34But the truth is,
05:35look closer,
05:37relax the tummy,
05:39and yes,
05:39it's squishy.
05:40it's got that loose skin
05:43that a lot of us have
05:45after exploding out here
05:47with carrying children.
05:50I have cellulite,
05:52which is not,
05:54yeah,
05:54there it is,
05:55there it is,
05:55there it is.
05:56You can see it right there.
05:58I have scarves
05:59from my recent hip surgery,
06:01which actually look really great.
06:02I think the doctor
06:03did a phenomenal job,
06:04but yeah,
06:05there they are.
06:07So,
06:08I'm healthy,
06:10and I'm not perfect,
06:12and that's
06:13amazing,
06:15because
06:15perfection
06:16is really
06:17quite boring,
06:18and I wish
06:19there was
06:20less
06:20focus on
06:22trying to achieve
06:23perfection
06:23when we all,
06:24actually all are
06:26perfect
06:27in being unique
06:29in who we are.
